will this adapeter carry audio throughout the hdmi? or will i need a audio cable as well?

Bought as a gift for my sister. Haven't given this to her yet. She previously had one (stolen) that connected through DVI to the TV and it transmitted sound. I'm guessing that if it worked with DVI, it should work with HDMI as well. I know that my research online says that audio doesn't get transmitted from her year MacBook Pro, but I can't dispute that it worked with a mini to DVI in the past. So, I won't know until her birthday.

Will this work on a Macbook late 2007?

Yes, had no problem. Pay close attention to the design as 2007 was the year Apple changed the DVI. Should note it does not transmit sound.

Do you have one of these with a longer cord?

You don't really need one that's longer. Just get a longer HDMI cord.
