At the Moment I have a QNAP but for my next NAS I’d like to get a Synology but still use them both as they both have Rsync I was wounding if I could use that protocol to sync info between them or if it has to be the same kind of NAS on both sides?

I cannot speak for the QNAP device, but the Synology runs an embedded version of Linux.  I am sure it is possible to rsync between both devices.
