What's the difference between this W1801R model and the other W8100R model router?  They both have the same specs on the websites but what's different?

Update: I was able to finally speak to a Tenda support rep and she sent me the latest good working firmware version for this W1801R router. So I was able to reload the same original firmware that it came with out of the box. The firmware version that it comes with is V2.0.0.10_EN.  The old incorrect firmware that is currently listed on their website is V2.0.0.1_EN.
Noticed the difference in the number!!! I told the support rep that she should tell the Tenda Web developer to correct the firmware download on their support download site.

Is this router MAC compatible?

the box says it is i dont have a mac but the tenda works great t had no problems with it easy to set up but make sure when u set it up u change password to make it more secure hope this helps :)

Does the Tenda W1801R come with adequate setup instructions or is telephone tech support available?

I have had it for a few days, just set it up today. Almost all of the info you will need is on the web. Set up is easy, works great!
  After installation use 192.168.1.1 to bring up the software. The one they tell you to use is incorrect.
  Just started using it but I have a good feeling about this router.

how many wireless devices can connect without slowing down the internet connection?

I have 3 TV's getting wifi from it and seems ok. I used the wds mode. easiest to connect with.

The description states it is a gigabit router, but the specifications indicate only 10/100.  Which is it?

Does anyone know if this is compatible with Tomato-usb? How is it different from the w1800r?

yes. compatible with tomato-usb. i've flashed it tomato w1800-121.
