Pros: Solid construction, adjustable knobs for fan speed, USB powered. Comes with stand. Not loud, even with 2 running.
Cons: None.
Overall Review: Bought 2 to fix a 47" LCD with overheating problems. Duct-taped them on the back and used a cheap USB hub to connect both to the single USB port labeled "For Maintenance Use Only". TV works after a bit of experimentation on where the fans should go. The whole setup is on the back where it's completely out of sight. The fans can't be heard at all over the TV audio. Another great thing is the fans are only on when the TV is on.
Pros: Close to brilliant idea well executed - case fans aren't just for cases anymore. The variable speed control is really nice, and I like the retractable cord with USB2 power.
Cons: Price is high, but will probobly stay that way until somebody else bends some wire and makes their version of this. Not really a con...all it needs to finish the masterpiece is to include a USB-to-Wall Plug adapter...I know you can get one of these adapters seperately, but Thermaltake should include one.
Overall Review: I use it to attach to a wire rack that my modem/router and a home network switch sitting on to keep them cool...works fantastic for that purpose. I have a 2nd fan that I use to blow over HDD's I buy and scan for errors (before I put them in any builds) to keep them cool while the scanning is going on.
Pros: - Easy to use (it's fan, after all). - Quiet (except at the highest setting). - Keeps me from sweating like a nasty pig while at my desk at work.
Cons: - Doesn't make smoothies. - Wire base was slightly bent.
Overall Review: Originally bought this to stick inside a case right next to a GPU that was overheating. It did the trick until I could get some better case fans installed. Now, it keeps me nice and cool at my desk. Only thing that would be cool is if they changed to fan power input to the universal android, or other USB type hookup.
Pros: quiet, comes with its own stand, adjustable speed, usb, includes retractable cord
Cons: None
Overall Review: Handy item. I have a router that runs a little warm. Placed this facing the rear of the router and temp immediately dropped by 20C.Nearly silent unless on full speed, and even then its very quiet.
Pros: - Reliable 120mm fan with virtually zero bulk (the bulk being the stand) - Excellent rigid metal stand with very little mass - Low noise especially if below ~80% speed - Adjustable speed knob (doesn’t seem like it will break/wear out) - Metal grilles (front and back of fan) - - Grilles can easily be removed for cleaning or other reasons - Convenient retractable (via push button) USB connection cord utilizing flat cable - - USB connection length measures 64’’ without a lot of tension (could stretch another inch or two but I wouldn’t recommend it) [162.56cm] - On/off controlled via USB - Practically unbeatable price + value when compared to other products in this application field
Cons: -Rigid metal stand can vibrated on some surfaces depending on fan speed (mostly unnoticeable but see below) * * Rigid metal stand can be improved with sticky felt or other such materials to remove this Con - Fan not simply replaceable without proper knowledge/tools (not marketed to be replaceable though…) - Rigid metal stand not adjustable to modify fan vertical angle (at least the manual doesn’t advise as such) - - Bending the metal stand to modify fan vertical angle could weaken the metal’s structural integrity if done repeatedly
Overall Review: I purchased 2 of these fans to help cool an enclosed tiered level entertainment center which houses multiple pieces of equipment (3x game consoles, 1x satellite television receiver, 1x surround sound receiver, and a mess of hidden cables). I had been planning to buy computer case fans and mockup the entertainment center myself but came across this product which is exactly what I had been designing and ended up highly satisfied. Now the entertainment center which used to be able to get up to 120°F (48.8°C) over prolonged periods of time will not go above 90°F (32.2°C) and averages around 75-85°F (23.8-29.4°C) which is a substantial difference. I setup both fans in a type of intake and output style, similar to a computer tower, and they generate a perfect jet stream flow which I measured with colored smoke. The connection to the USB cable is a type of modified (probably proprietary) 2-pin power connector. The fan itself appears to be a 3-pin 120mm fan. Two of the cables for controlling the speed are wired off to the speed knob and the other two go to the 2-pin connector. I have no doubt if I wanted to swap, repair or replace this fan with another 120mm 3-pin, 4-pin or 3/4-pin fan I would be able to fairly easily. In my application these two fans both power up when I turn on equipment inside of the entertainment center which is ideal as they turn off with the equipment as well. This could be a Pro or Con for some but is strictly a Pro in my situation. A small side note to this is the fans are truly very portable; I can connect them to a USB adapter on my smart phone or even my mobile battery charger pack and have the fans operate. A fully charged 4000mAh mobile battery charger pack that I’ve had for a while was able to operate one of the fans for well over 8 hours.
Pros: The larger 120mm (vs 80mm version) is nice because the larger fan moves more air at lower RPM (and consequently less noise). You can hear a soft hum if you turn it to max but I've found that when dialed to about 80% and not placed directly in your face, you will barely hear anything. I own 3 of the vertical standing (fanless) Seagate Backup Plus hard drives. They're among the cheaper drives and have a reputation for running hot. Looking at SMART monitoring data, my drives had hit >60C on several occasion with 69C as a peak...definitely not ideal. While there is some conflicting data about whether heat damages these external hard drive, I am of the firm belief that if not bad for the hard drive itself, will be bad for the other electronic circuitry. I've been doing an external HDD-to-HDD transfer for about 4 hours straight now and the temperature has not budged beyond 38-40C. My setup: 3 vertically standing Seagate Backup Plus drives with the TT fan set up behind it to blow air perfectly through the width of the air slats/vents of 3 drives. Why not get an external enclosure you ask? 1) Cost 2) Doing so would require all 3 drives to be persistently on. Also, I do believe that minimal use (backup drives) is somehow better than constantly on; if not the HD motor, then other parts or possibility of data corruption/loss. Anyway, I can selectively plug in the specific hard drive I want. I'll leave the fan on regardless because it saps negligible amount of power (~3Watts). The box rates the fan at 30,000 hours (~3.5years) continuously makes the $23 bucks I spent a great investment.
Cons: No on/off switch; somewhat audible at max setting though from ~80% to 100% offers no real world incremental temperature benefit (for my use).
Pros: Not to fast (loud) and not to slow. Speed adjustment is is in the right range.
Cons: None
Overall Review: I think I will buy few more.

Pros: With speed control knob set at minimum the fan is very quiet. On minimum speed we have two of these which have been running trouble-free for four years! Using one fan as intake and the other as exhaust (both on lowest speed) these move enough air to keep our enclosed equipment cabinet cool. When A/V receiver is playing loud for a couple of hours the temperature in the cabinet is warm but never hot.
Cons: Orange color fan blades. Increasing speed makes it a little too noisy for home theater use, but in a less critical environment i would still rate the fan as quiet when running at medium speed.
