The Thermaltake TR2 (W0093RU) is a 500 Watt power supply unit ideal for high-end multi-card systems. Perfectly blending power, price, and functionality, and compatible with the ATX12V 2.0 standard, it's a sharp value and a powerful player. The high efficiency design (which saves power) and the large 120 mm fan keeps it up and running under the most strenuous circumstances. The unique design and position of the fan optimizes airflow while reducing noise. The side air vents and mirror-casing design further increase airflow and also enhance cooling considerably.

One main connector (20 + 4 pin), one 12V (P4), one PCI-E, eight peripheral, four SATA, and two floppy connectors are more than enough for all your components. Active PFC improves efficiency, and over current, over voltage, and short-circuit protection shield your critical components from errant power fluctuations. The LED indicator indicates whether the power supply is in standby mode (orange) or is running normally (green). The TR2 500W supports both Intel and AMD-based systems.

Thermaltake is known for steady reliable power and great cooling. This one's no exception.

Farewell thee power supply 4/24/2016 6:15:46 PM

Pros: - Ran for 10 years.
- Never a single issue.
- Built like a tank.

Cons: - Ah, the halcyon days of "Cable Management? HAH! What's cable management?"

Overall Review: You done good old girl, you done good.

Retiring it after 8 years! 11/19/2015 8:34:52 AM

Pros: Still works and quiet as a mouse after 8 years of nearly constant use!
Just time for one with more watts and 2 PCI-E cables.

Cons: Are you kidding... :-)

Overall Review: Got my money's worth out of this power supply for sure!

Great Power Supply, Still Running 6 Years After Installation 11/5/2011 3:35:21 PM

Pros: Quiet
Easy installation
Long enough cables for a large Lian-Li case.

Cons: Slightly louder than it was when I originally installed; but still thats nitpicking since it is 6+ years old!

Still going @ 3+ years. 9/14/2011 1:10:48 AM

Pros: Inexpensive Quiet enough to sit on my desk without bothering me. Performed faithfully for 3+ years at this point with no issues. I've used this PSU in two PC builds, and perhaps will use in a third. I would recommend this product.

Cons: I could use more cables myself, but it certainly meets the needs of most.

Overall Review: It may be noteworthy that this PSU has resided on a UPS line for it's entire life, which I also recommend to everyone as I believe it very likely contributed to it's health.

Current build:
Intel Pentium D 3.22ghz, 1x GeForce 8800 GTS, 4x 512mb DDR RAM, 2x internal IDE HDDs, 2x internal SATA HDDs, 1x internal SATA SSD, 2x external HDDs via USB, 2x CD/DVD burners, 2x 80mm case fans, 1x 120mm case fan.

After 3+ years, still going strong 10/11/2009 2:52:56 PM

Pros: Bought this back in September 2006. It has been going strong for all these years without a single hitch. Just wanted to let everyone know since I saw a few reviews saying it crapped out.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Back on 09/15/06 I bought this along with:
-Abit AT8 32x
-Athlon 64 x2 3800+
-2 GB Corsair DDR PC3200
-Sapphire X1900XT
-Auzentech X-Plosion

I had replaced the X1900XT with a X1950XTX and have been using this as my main gaming rig. I still can play many games @ 1080p resolutions on MAX settings. The new Batman game runs pretty well, Crysis sucks, Source engine games run great, Guild Wars easy, Burnout Paradise flies, Need for Speed Shift runs choppy.

Good replacement in a pinch 9/19/2009 9:33:45 AM

Pros: Stays quiet with the automatic fan speed control, looks nice with the mirror finish and wrapped cables, no power issues so far running at about 80% (400W) of max load.

Cons: Not a lot of fancy features.

Overall Review: I bought it to replace a toasted PSU in my old Athlon XP system, made possible by the 20+4 ATX connector. It's worked flawlessly for 10 months now but is connected to a UPS.

Fail once, shame on you, fail twice shame on me 8/17/2009 1:28:32 AM

Pros: A well performing PSU that does everything it claims, except have long longevity.

Cons: Original PSU was purchased to replace the one that came with a normal case when the system was originally built, lasted for around 16 months and died under warranty, RMA'd it to Thermaltake and used the replacement until it died tonight during a reboot, lasted about 2 years.

Overall Review: I've been working with computers for 15 years and have never had a PSU fail on me before these two Thermaltakes in the same system. As I see this is now a common occurrence with many other reviewers I am also going to have to say that I am done with purchasing anything from Thermaltake.

Bought 2 and 2 failed after 2.5 years 8/7/2009 12:51:23 AM

Pros: Worked great until they failed.

Cons: Bought two of these power supplies for two builds in Q4 2006. One supply failed about a month ago and the other one failed yesterday.

Overall Review: Both failures were the same: Computers were off but plugged in, an electrolytic cap popped in the power supply followed by a small amount of smoke from the power supply. No damage to the computers. Switched out both supplies. Computers work fine now, but I'm done with Thermaltake.
