Pros: Overall a great buy. The performance for the price is quite nice. Processor is fast enough for most tasks, graphics are sufficient for all the games out now as well. Sound system is great. Full keyboard and num pad are certainly a plus, buttons feel nice, although a bit noisy. Screen looks great, I actually prefer the lower resolution, means I don't have to get new glasses. Overall build is good, everything feels solid.

Cons: Only get a backup disc, so no reformatting with a fresh vista install. From what I've gathered installing XP is a pain as there is no driver support from Toshiba. I called Toshiba about this and was basically told there was nothing I could do...you're stuck with all the bloatware. Don't let the "subwoofer" fool you...it's not able to reproduce a decent 2.1 system. It all still sounds good, but don't expect anything amazing. Lid picks up a ton of prints...the red tiger design is...interesting. I'm not sure if I like it yet, but it's not bad. Power input is in an awkward position, it tends to come loose when i'm using it on my lap. Short battery life, but I didn't really expect much given the specs...I almost always use it on "performance" power mode and get around 2 hours.

Overall Review: The Vista disc bothers me...apparently you can choose which software to install when using the recovery disc...we'll see. Toshiba support seems nice...you can actually talk to a person fairly easy. Doesn't seem to be any chat or email support, though, unless I just can't find it. Haven't installed any games yet, I'll probably only throw on COD4. Runs Sonar 6 Producer with no problems. I can manage a handful of soft synths with a decent amount of effects processors without much trouble. A full multitrack recording session seems to be very possible with this. I found NONE of the included software to be even remotely useful. I guess Office is nice...but it's a 60 day trial.

Pros: Solid build, beautiful bright screen, nice "out of box" experience, snappy performance, very decent graphics card for the money, very attractive, nice case design, comes with recovery discs(!), great performance w/Vista. Tons of ports and connections. Best speakers and audio I've ever heard from a notebook - incredible quality, clarity and presence. Simply amazing. Incredible at this price point.

Cons: vertical viewing angles limited (very common w/all laptops), bloatware, dual-mode touchpad only works if 'tapping' enabled, large power brick (but w/this card and screen size, understandable), big and heavy (but this is really a DTR not a portable), all ports on sides can be good and bad

Overall Review: Wow! This is one beautiful rig! It looks like a 2-4k system. The 8700M GT is a decent card and will run well at 1440x900 (it falls of at higher resolutions) so well matched here. Very nice setup, no problems at all, everything went very smoothly. Very snappy Vista performance. This is my first Vista unit and it's not bad at all, much better than I expected (I prefer XP usually). The audio on this notebook will knock your socks off as will the beautiful 17" screen. When I loaded up WinAmp to check out the speakers, the sound quality was awesome. Then I turned on full screen visuals and was blown away. I actually spent the next 10-15 minutes just listening and watching - it was that good. Haven't had time to try out my games yet, but most games run well by all accounts. All in all I am very well pleased with this system. A super rig for the price asked. Everything feels solid and well built. Lots of nice little unique features. Some genuinely helpful Toshiba software.

Pros: This laptop rocks. It is so much faster than my last Toshiba there is no comparison. I really like that that keyboard is set up like a desktop keyboard with the number pad. The speakers sound good, so much in fact that I have to keep the sound turned way down, especially when traveling. I was looking at going back to Apples when I saw this on Newegg's website. This is a lot of laptop for the price.

Cons: Vista. I guess I'll get used to it....eventually.

Pros: Very fast, runs Vista fine. Huge display. Sound quality is spectacular, so much better than my first laptop.

Cons: -A lot of bloatware - easily removed. -When it came time to purchasing the computer the fingerprint scanner sounded awesome, I used it for the first week, then I went back to the password login. -Battery life is short, but acceptable for what I need it for

Pros: good keyboard, touchpad lights up. Great speakers. nice screen. everything working. very quiet. webcam not swivel.

Cons: all usbs in the very front, should be toward the back. power plug should be in the back. heat blows out the side and blows on your hands or your drink. if you have extra usb items that u want to plug in and leave plugged in they are protruding from the side and are usually in your way if your working on a small desk and are cramped for space.

Overall Review: seems to be a good system. processor a little on the slow side,could use more memory, don't like vista at all. my biggest complaint about the system is the layout of the usb,power network cable etc. i like all my connections to be in the back or torward the back of the system. if u use a wireless mouse.. guess what is sticking out of the side in the way same goes for network cable or usb cables on the side of the system is that they stick out in the way. the heat vents are also on the side which pose a problem for the right side because that is where my mouse is and the heat is directly blowing on my hand so i have had to adjust my hand to a different area of the desk for my mouse. the touch pad lights up that is cool. the webcam is not swivel could benefit better if it were. the speakers sound great. wheel for volume is nice. i would like it better if connections were on back or toward the back and heat on back

Pros: Nicely built and solid construction. Well thought out machine. It has all the ports and connectors you'll need.

Cons: I've had the machine for two days and I have to say that I didn't get that WOW factor with the speakers. In fact they don't play at a high volume as I expected. I've tried various cd music, dvd movies and I am not impressed at all. I even updated the drivers and stil poor sound performance. VERY DISAPPOINTING. The graphics aren't that great either.

Overall Review: I have a Gateway Lap M6705 and its speakers have the same quality as my new Tosihba. Newegg has not been of any help and Tosihba hasn't either. Maybe, my machine is defective? Don't buy this machine.

Pros: This computer is amazingly fast. I'll give that I do not personally own this computer, but my friend who purchased this needed me to help him set it up. I own a Gateway M-6755 NoteBook, and I am not going to bash my laptop, but this toshiba makes me rethink my purchase. This Toshiba comes with little manufacturing "junk" (I.E. extra programs that eat your CPU usage) that is a pain to get rid of, and is FAST.

Cons: Only two gig's of ram for this price, but the NVIDIA 8700 make's up for the lack of ram.

Overall Review: If you have the extra money for this, but it. You will love this, especially if your a gamer. My friend plays COD 4, CSS, and he just bought Crysis, WHICH DOES RUN ON THIS. this is a amazing laptop, and definitely worth the money.
