Question 1

Tried to set this up as an access point, no security (for testing), 20mhz channel width, everything else default.
No devices I have tried will connect to it - just get an error message.

Any suggsstions?

To use as an access point, I think airmax needs to be turned off.  Also keep in mind that you may be seeing the network, but the radio in the device may not be strong enough to send a signal back to the nanostation to make a connection.

Are these battery operated?

These units uses POE (power over ethernet), an power adapter is included with the unit to provide power if the upstream switch does not provide power.

Will this work as a wireless bridge for ip Security cameras?

Accepted Answer

Yes, this should work as a PTP transparent bridge when used in pairs. 
Keep in mind that Ubiquiti has some features you may need to turn off if you want it to be a standard AP (if you change your mind later).
Any of the Litebeam, Nanobeam, Powerbeam or NanoStation products can be a PTP bridge or a station in a PTMP config.
If you use the BM2HP or BM2-Ti with an appropriate antenna as a base station, the Locos can be stations in a PTMP configuration.
I prefer the 5GHz Litebeam or Nanobeams for PTP. a) spectrum is less crowded, and b) cost is about the same ($55) as the Locos with much greater distance and capacity. NBE-5M-16 is also a good choice.

how many amps does the poe injector draw?

POE adapter stats: Output Voltage: 24VDC @ 1.0A
Assume the AP will draw less than max output so somewhere less than 1 amp under full load. Less when idle. I don't have the tools to measure precisely.

What is the Max Range on this?

Hi. I don't know about the max range. it's prob listed in the specs somewhere. I would suspect that that is very dependent on obstacles between the 2 points.
I can tell you from my exp, that this thing has shoot a signal, I kid you not, right through a small storage building and hit a 2nd nanostation on the other side and still had plenty of signal. I ran these for about a year before my situation changed, but in that time frame, never had a signal drop.

does this come with a mount of any kind?

The back of the nanostation is molded to match the profile of a round pole. It comes with a zip tie so you attach it easily. Check out the documentation on the manufacturer site...

Question 7

I need to know if this antenna I can connect to a remote wifi?

Yes, up to 5 KM. You would need a pair to set up a transparent bridge, clear line of sight, mounted outside. POE through very good quality cable to each antenna, or you will have issues down the road and no apparent cause. Make sure it is mounted at least 15 feet off the ground or someone may park a semi in front of it and kill your signal.
I prefer the 5GHz equip since it costs about the same, has higher capacity, and the frequency range is not as crowded.

Question 8

I have a building 900 feet away that I want to get my internet signal to. does this unit work? I dont see any info on how to plug it in and what to do with it.
I have a cisco router, and it is inside the office, about 10 feet away from the window that has line of sight to the other building.

Absolutely.  However, if you want the best performance get the Nano M5.  It will bridge that with limited 2.4 noise and put your around 120-150mb transfer rate.  Both the LocoM2 and the NanoM5 use POE injectors and the M5 has 2 ethernet ports.  Very easy to configure and rock solid performance.  Keep in mind if the window your aiming at has tint, you can have issues with penetration.
