Huge increase in overall performance1/4/2010 10:52:43 AM
Pros: Where I currently live, the highest DSL rate I have is 1.5, while is more than enough for general use, online play is seriously lacking. The Killer Xeno Pro card makes a huge difference in performance not only with games, but while running streaming video as well. I love this card. Price wise, it is acceptable. I was hesitent for a few months but I am kicking myself for not getting it sooner. The free month of EQ2, while not my most favorite mmo to play was also a bonus.
Easy to install, CD install was easy to use. Killer Tray icon makes it simple to switch out performance for games to performance for general applications and back again with a simple click on which you want to run. No issues with power supply to the unit itself. Also has a firewall which you can use as well.
Cons: Since I've had this card under one month, I have no cons, I've read about the LCD lights being annoying, however since I can't see the back of my computer, this is not an issue for me. Not really a con, I have not used the headset/microphone jacks for the vent/teamspeak as of yet, so I do not know how overall performance would be while using the card for both games and voice capabilities.
Overall Review: If you live in rural areas and have limited dsl/cable bandwith speeds, you really need to invest in this card, as long as you have a computer capable of handling this card there is a huge noticable change in the performance of your computer.
Pros: Card can be installed in ANY PCI-e slot. Nothing to setup or configure, plug it in, install drivers and go.
Cons: Very odd problem - the card barely reaches the slots on the motherboard, I was worried that a little bump could jar the card loose from the slot.
I don't know if it's out of spec, or what, but it just doesn't seat firmly like a video card does.
Overall Review: For some reason my Logitech G35 headset was stuttering every 15-30 seconds. I found out the cause was my onboard LAN causing a spike every now and then when moving data, streaming music/video etc. Installed this card, and the problem is gone.
Can't see much of a difference1/22/2010 2:15:36 PM
Pros: Ability to cut down other programs that use your bandwith
more RAM is always appreciated.
Has LEDs
Cons: I don't see much of a difference between my onboard LAN connectors that offer 1000mbps and this card. STEAM still downloads at a nice 2.4mb/s regardles of either connection. I don't have an idea how it would compare with a PCI LAN card, but I would figure it wouldn't make much of a difference, if any.
Overall Review: I had read about it not making much of a difference by numberous web postings about the card, but I like the option of having my PCI-e ports used. But, I have o be honest there really isn't any noticable difference with this and my onboard connection. (i7 975 on GA-EX58-UD5, 15GB RAM, Windows 7 64bit)
Pros: It boost my ping but not that much and I do notice that my pc boots faster after i installed this NIC.
Cons: "Game Mode" is not compatible with most programs that i run.
So I use the "Application Mode" all the time to prevent BSOD's.
*Card does not seat firmly on any of my PCI/PCIe slots.
Overall Review: Try not to use those built-in/on-board stuff from ur mainboard. U will notice the difference!
Pros: Great NPU for gaming
Key Benefits I have found:
*offload network traffic from CPU
*Dedicated Memory and CPU for networking traffic
*Gigabit interface
*USB feature to add USB headset or USB storage for torrent.
*voice/ team viewer option for offloading from CPU to NPU
*Network Application Prioritizing software
*Flashable/Up-gradable firmware and software
*Great for heavy network traffic
Cons: *Only lowered ping and latency by 5-10%
*No noticeable change when using Integrated NIC
Overall Review: Well when it came to network speed and latency this NPU did not make a difference.
The best feature was the software with application prioritization that allows you to choose what programs have priority over others or close off bandwidth to programs you don't use. If you are buying for software I recommend going with programs or software from Cisco, Netgear, or MSI that can prioritize applications.
One great thing about this card is it offloads all network traffic processing from the CPU and RAM an provides dedicated processor and memory for networking. This is especially helpful for single, dual, triple, and some quad core systems and frees up resources that the network would use for a better gaming experience and helps increase FPS on lower to mid level GPU systems.
You wont get the WOW factor but will help system run fluently and less lag or hang ups. If you have a newer CPU with quad or more cores you probably won't need a NPU like this and could go with a Intel or generic NIC card to achieve the same effect.
Great if using with Dual NIC setup, used in servers and PC that are used for storage or heavy network traffic.
