Because in the end, there is a purchase from the retailer, Newegg in this case, the y pay a certain price per unit for any given item, and from there they set a price where they can not only stay somewhat "reasonable" in price but at the same time make a profit from whatever it is they are selling

are people really buying these for $409 when the msrp is $249? screw this company, Newegg shouldn't let them gouge like this, but more importantly people should really not be buying them for this and encouraging more price gouging. It kind of defeats AMD's whole purpose for  releasing these cards, to make a top of the line graphics card that the average person can afford. Please do not buy from these price gougers. Be patient and wait for new stock.
