Had to RMA first one. Second one, has been fine8/13/2013 1:33:02 PM
Pros: Decent price for the amount of space. Would like to see a faster 2.5" hard drive for $54.99
Cons: Had to RMA the first one. Physical errors were present and I could hear clicking.
Overall Review: I received the first drive and had it in a client's machine and was installing Windows 7 Home Premium in a few minutes. During install I hear a clicking sound and then the screen went blank while the clicking continued. I powered the machine down and tried to re-create the sound again. About an hour later, the clicking continued and the machine froze.
Newegg was fast at taking care of the RMA for me, and I had another hard drive back within a week. Installed with no issues and got the laptop back to the client. This is expected from time to time, as hard drives are pretty delicate devices.
Dead after 5 months!! Really?!!1/22/2012 3:59:23 PM
Pros: Worked for roughly 5 months. When it did, it was quick and fairly quiet.
Cons: Worked for roughly 5 months! Only 866hours of use according to smart data. Grrr. I guess it happens to the best of them. But seeing how the other guys had such problems with the drive. Now I'm not surprised.
Overall Review: Just got off the phone with my customer. Her laptop had been acting funny (random freezes mostly) and she finally decided to give me call. We replaced her old dead drive with this WD around Aug./Sept. 2011 in her Lenovo IdeaPad. I remoted in, ran CrystalDiskInfo and got BAD as the status. Luckily I have a WD 320GB drive lying around that we can use to get her back up and running.
Pros: This is the successor to the WD3200BEVT.
- It reads 82MB/s at the beginning of the platter and 44MB/s at the end of the platter, so it's quite speedy for a drive of this capacity.
- No seeking noise whatsoever, as silent as can be.
- Advanced Format drive uses 4KB sectors instead of 512 byte sectors, allowing for greater platter density and therefore fewer platters & faster sequential read/writes.
Cons: - Lack of reviews will make some people spring for the tried-and-true, albeit power hungry, WD3200BEVT.
- Works right out of the box with Windows Vista & 7.
- Windows XP users, see Other Thoughts.
Overall Review: If you're installing this drive on an XP system, you MUST download Western Digital's "WD Align" program to format the drive prior to Win XP installation.
Format process for XP:
Attach the drive to a computer with Windows already installed, run WD Align, follow the prompts to format the drive. Pretty simple, but an extra step some may want to skip.
(Windows 7 and Vista users can ignore this part and format the drive just like any other.)

Pros: its a WD, they have awesome rma and sent me an upgrade replacement for my troubles, 500GB scorpio blue which installed recovery CDs with out a hitch.
Cons: this hdd was simple DOA which is no good when your client is waiting for their computer
Overall Review: im not overly annoyed with the dead drive cause like I said, client got an upgrade "which he really liked" and this is the first time i have ever received a defective drive from wd. plus WD rma process is excellent.
Cons: Came DOA from NewEgg. Wasn't WD fault, NewEgg packed it poorly . They accepted it back and shipped a new one, in better packing.
Overall Review: The replacement drive has been working for 2 years with out issue.

Pros: Inexpensive and works.
Cons: None
Overall Review: This was a replacement hard drive on friends computer. She had given me the computer to see if I could repair. It would not load the operating system. Quick test - Unbuntu live disc, everything work, except the storage. Replaced the drive, reinstalled the operating system, and her computer works again.
Pros: Stores data.
Doesn't randomly burst into flames or summon demons that devour small children/pets.
Cons: Not exactly speedy, but blue drives aren't. That's how it goes.
Overall Review: Purchased this drive to replace a failing HDD in an older ACER laptop, certainly can't complain, working as advertised.
Note: A green drive would have been better for a laptop, yes, however the machine in question is always plugged in, it's battery has probably been dead for years tbh.
Pros: Decent price for the amount of space. Would like to see a faster 2.5" hard drive for $54.99
Cons: Had to RMA the first one. Physical errors were present and I could hear clicking.
