how do you remove filter?

Pull out the water container and you will see the black thin screen filler by looking upward. Pull the filter down and it will slide out. You can see the filter by looking directly through the panel above the water container. The filter is very thin.

does it have the non-freeze capability for its lines?

I am not sure I understand the question. I have been using this product for over 1yr now, and I run it continuously. So far I have not experienced any problems with this product, freezing or otherwise. I hope this helps.
