Great Printer till you find out you must BEG FOR PARTS. 12/27/2016 1:57:20 PM

Pros: Economical first printer.

Cons: All 3D printers will need parts replaced over their lifetime. This company will take a month or longer just to agree to sell you the simplest thing. They have only a few assemblies listed on their site. When you need something else (and you will), you will learn like I have, biggest flaw here. NO SERVICE. After being asked to prove I purchased a printer several times including copies of my New Egg receipt, Serial numbers, registration then serial number again before they would agree to discuss with me my desire to spend money with them to buy repair parts. They they want photographic proof of broken parts, they then reluctantly agree to sell to me what I want. I am waiting now 3 weeks before they tell me what I owe them and how to pay. 3 weeks waiting on an invoice. I have over 1 month trying to deal with this company to spend what will likely be less than $20 for two simple items. The real cost of any printer from xyzPrinting is that you need to have 2 or 3 of them so you can stay up and running all the time. If you can afford more, get more. Get something else. If the company cannot sell you parts, then you are buying a throw away item. Understand this reality going in before you invest in this company. I think they may not understand how modern business works. The customer wants something, they click on it to put it in the shopping cart, pay with PayPal or a credit card and the company ships it to them. I'm afraid xyzPrinting is stuck in some other weird time distortion not understanding how to service what they sell. It's as if your buying a pair of shoes. When it fails, throw it away, get another. I would not recommend this company until they list parts on their website and agree to allow people to buy them. Please check their site before ordering one of their products.

Overall Review: I would never buy a 3D printer made by this company again, I would not recommend you buy one. Up your budget and get something you can keep working. If You buy from xyzPrinting and your machine goes down, it will be down for a very long time. You've been warned. I am shocked NewEgg is exposing it's customers to inevitable disappointment here. I would highly recommend this printer if you could buy parts for it without going through a proctological exam, pregnancy test, DNA test and weeks of begging. It's just too hard.

Great 3d printer 12/2/2016 4:03:50 PM

Pros: Price you can get it around 300 if you wait.
Out of the box it is set. First print was perfect.
If you set it to fine detail the prints look amazing.
Includes everything to get started.

Cons: Might be a tad slow specially when using fine print resolution. But lets face it 3d printing isnt injection molding.

Have to calibrate when switching between pla and abs.

Overall Review: Some complain about the cost of the cartridges. Show me any other printer that is assembled configured and can print 5 mins out of the box anywhere near this price. I for one dont mind paying for a well made product.

I personally only have been printing ABS. The prints are flawless. Only when I try to cut corners or print using the faster setting have I had a bad print. I will say 95% of "bad prints" were my own errors, I suspect the same with other reviewers.

Remeber take your time let the bed cool off. Think about it the bed is designed to keep it from warping by heating it to bond to the bed. If you rush and ram the scraper under the print thats still bonded dont be suprised if you break it off. My larger prints pop themselfs off the bed.

I purchased the 1.0 and I just purchased the 2.0. It was well worth the money I have spent on it and I recommend it to anyone. Specially those that dont want to have to take a week to build the thing and tinker with it.

Worst Customer Service ever 11/7/2016 2:12:49 PM

Pros: The printer worked for the first 3 prints very well.

Cons: The printer broke after the first 3 prints and ive been working with customer service for about 2 months now. they had me ship in the nozzle, then the motherboard and now they've had the motherboard for 2 weeks and have told me nothing besides the fact that they will contact me when their technicians are done looking at it no estimates or anything.

Overall Review: Would not recommend this printer to anyone it may be the worst customer experience I've ever had

Perfect Entry Level 3D Printer! 11/2/2016 2:33:10 PM

Pros: - Price!
- Plug and play; comes pre-calibrated
- Supports ABS, PLA and TPE flexible filament
- Simple GUI
- USB Interface
- Relatively fast 3D printer
- Simple filament replacement
- Large work area; almost 8 inches cubed!
- heated glass work surface; reduces chance of print warping/curling
- Fully enclosed; great for temp/noise management
- Simple to maintain and calibrate
- Down to .1mm layer height; very accurate

Cons: - Work surface is just plate glass; broke by second week (partially my fault, see other comments)
Have to use manufacturer's filament cartridges; this is both good and bad as you can't take advantage of economy deals out there, but the manufacturer can't blame poor performance on sub-standard filament

Overall Review: I have over 100 hours on this bad boy already, and have had very few issues. The one problem I did have with the printer itself had to do with the work plate. It's just cheap plate glass, and when I used too much adhesive to hold down a large print, I couldn't get it to separate from the job without chipping. Fortunately there is a company out there that makes a replacement plate for this printer that uses borosilicate glass; a much superior material. I also learned to use hairspray instead of glue sticks; no more problem.
Although this is an inexpensive printer, it is well designed. Fully enclosed to maintain consistent temp for the build and reduce noise, it also is aesthetically pleasing. Some have had problems with the printer recognizing the filament cartridge, and it HAS happened to me once. There is a small chip at the bottom of the cartridge the provides the info needed to the printer, and if the contacts get dirty it may not read right away. For me, I simply pulled the cartridge, wiped the contacts, re-installed and was good to go.
Altogether I've been very happy with this printer and would recommend it as an entry-level or hobbyist product. Can't beat the price!

Good hobby desktop 3D printer 11/1/2016 7:41:31 PM

Pros: - Good quality builds
- Prints don't warp once bed is seasoned
- Prints better than MakerBot
- Reasonably priced machine for hobbist

Cons: - Heating element connector broke after a year. Soldered it back together. Works fine now.
- Adjustments are limited but it prints fine with stock software.
- Noisy, sounds like R2D2 rambling on about how lame C3PO is. However, all FFF/FDM printers are this way.

Overall Review: I work with different 3D printing technologies and this is great for home or small office use. You have to manage expectations and know that you won't get an injection mold quality part off it. Also note that since it FFF/FDM, there are layers that produce stress concentrations. This will lead to parts breaking if you treat them like molded parts.

Very low quality. 10/23/2016 10:24:41 PM

Pros: Cheap.
Easy to set up.

Cons: Non-adjustable temperatures.
Bad calibration system.
Expensive proprietary filament.

Overall Review: Do yourself a favor and spend a little more on a quality system. This one will give you headaches and waste plenty of filament on failed prints.

My first 3D Printer 10/8/2016 4:04:48 PM

Pros: This is my first 3D printer and so far I am loving how easy it was to setup I am still learning about 3D printing but it has been a very nice experience I think it's a great starter printer for anybody that wants to get into 3D printing

Cons: After a few prints the glass started chipping away but after talking to customer service they shipped out a new one it was very easy to replace and there is YouTube videos on how it's replaced

Good Beginner Printer for Cheap 9/20/2016 8:37:18 PM

Pros: -Was on sale for $300 and had a $20 off code so a steal for $280usd.
-very easy to setup. quite literately plug and play, says you shouldn't need to calibrate it right off (tho i would because mine was about as level as a 1920s house) but isn't really needed. just i Highly recommend it.
-comes with "filament" only half a xyz role which is 300g(see other 1)

Cons: -Xyzware..... Its the worst slicing program....ever....seriously ditch it...
-proprietary filament rolls(see other 1)
-Mine needed a calibration though it said it was calibrated from the factory
-have to mod the printer to have it be good/seems like the xyz devs were like, lets make a cheap printer that is good under the hood and give it some dumb limitations and fore people to use our bad software.(see other 2)

Overall Review: Xyzware is garbage, ditch it and reflash the firmware to repetier (you will not regret it)
1. Comes with a 300g roll of filament. the standard xyz filament is 600g compared to the standard 1kg rolls out there. AND the xyz rolls cost like 5 to $7 more. one you reflash you will not only be able to use ANY FILAMENT, but you will save money because the standard 1gk stuff is cheaper.
-IMO its dumb to have proprietary stuff like this on anything especially when its not needed..... at all... serves no purpose other than to charge people more.
2. I mentioned that the devs seemed seemed to make the printer more dumb because once you switch to repetier you gain sooo many more features that arnt even in the xyzcrapware that make your prints even better. Switch and you will gain so much and lose hardly anything. you cant even change temps on filament or the bed with the standard firmware, but EVERYTHING is adjustable once you switch.

Would i Buy.... well for 280 its a steal and even with xyzcrapware its worth it, if you couldn't reflash this then i wouldn't recommend it. Its like they give you a tease and give you a cheap printer for a decent deal and then proceed to take away any options of customization away. cant use other filaments or mod any temps or anything. you essentially can just place an object in and print and nothing more.

You should be able to change settings which you can... but you have to mod. buy an sdcard extender and relocate the sdcard so you can easily place gcode on it and print without having to have the printer plugged into the pc. get some painters tape and enjoy. I will say once you switch to repetier you will need to experiment with the settings to get a better print but i assure you once its dialed in you will notice a big difference between xyzware and the repetier
