hi i have a 1250W powersupply is this fine when i use this video card is the speed still the same?? or will it decrease?? please help?

I run Thermaltake 1250 Grand modular PS.  It runs 3, 7200rpm hard drives. a DVD writer the 8 core cpu water cooler , 32 gig of 1866mhz ram, a Sabertooth 990fx motherboard 3 120mm fans&2 140mm fans and the XFX 990X 8 GIG card. 2 1080p HD monitors The Vcard & power supply handles this easily. it took 3 ultra 4K High Def monitors running games at the highest settings across all 3 screens to finally get the fans on the Vcard to finally spin up to high. the PS has been more than ample. However I only run one Vcard if your planning on running two Vcards i would go with a 1500w PS

NewEgg's description of this card states that it's 8gb of DDR5 memory, but XFX's website specs have it listed as GDDR5.  Which is it?

The simple answer is that if is GDDDR5. DDR4 ram is only recently being used on newer motherboards. The G in GDDR5 basically stands for Graphics. Even when DDR5 becomes the new standard on motherboard ram, it will not be as fast as GDDR5 is running through PCI Express 3.0 lane on a GPU.

Graphics Card ram will be even more efficient  when Windows 10 and Direct X12 releases as it will give graphics cards lower level access to games and productivity applications then ever before.

In case you need to know, I have a Corsair HX 850 watt power supply powering this card along with 3 256 Gb Solid State Drives and 2 Two Terabyte hard drives, an LG BluRay burner, an AsRock z77 extreme 6 motherboard, 32 gigs of Corsair Vengeance ram, a Noctua CPU cooler, and an i7 3770k in a Corsair Carbide 500r case.

As a test though, I ran a power test with 3d Mark benchmark tools on full load to the power line to measure total power draw and I was able to run it all even on my older Corsair CX 600 watt with power to spare even on load. The total power draw with everything was 459 watts.

What is the minimum PSU wattage needed for this card?

Per the packaging requirements a 750W (or greater) power supply with one 150W 8-pin PCI Express power connector and a 75W 6-pin Express power connector is recommended.

I am using a 700W OCZ power supply, 2 HDDs, 1 solid state drive, 32GB ram, and two LCD monitors with a 2560x1440 resolution (one vertical, one horizontal). No problems to date. After several hours of gaming the running temperature of the PSU does increase a bit.

Windows 7 is reporting a 7.9 for both Graphics and Gaming Graphics (as high as it goes). Diablo III runs smoothly.

I can run both monitors at the same time -- previously I had to enable/disable Crossfire to switch between gaming on one monitor or having an expanded desktop. With the new card this is no longer an issue.

I have not seen any "Windows is running slow" warnings since this latest upgrade. I can actually watch different movies on both monitors at the same time (tried this just for kicks).

I'm a gamer, so I love to have my games at maximum quality, by chance, for example, could this graphics card actually max out GTA 5 on 1080p 40" Monitor?

I dont play this gam myself and I have been reading posts. It seems every one is having some kind of trouble with GTA5 nvidia and AMD.
 Your rig has allot to do with it. It should run the game, how high the setting depends on your Comp and other factors. There is a fresh driver out with updates for GTA 5 
 It is an awesome card and the price you can not beat.

Would this card run well on my msi 890fxa-gd70 that has pci express 2.0 x16? Running 850w antec try power Quattro ps.

I'm sure you've already researched this topic from sources more reputable than random people on Newegg, but you should not see more than a marginal difference between a high end graphics card on a PCIe 2.0 vs a PCIe 3.0. At most, you will see a 2-3% difference in performance. This is negligible, and does not warrant buying a whole new setup for this graphics card, or buying a cheaper graphics card that is aimed at PCIe 2.0 (which would be a pretty old card anyway). The only major reason you should hesitate about buying this card is if you don't plan on having a 4k or Eyefinity set up. If that's the case, I'd just go for the 4GB version as someone else mentioned. If you do plan on using 4k or Eyefinity, go for the 8GB version.

So long as your motherboard has a PCIe-2.0 slot it should work fine, also keeping in mind it will use that slot AND cover the slot beneath it.  Be sure that your power supply can handle the wattage needed to cover this card as well as the rest of your system.  The DDR3 memory that your motherboard uses for system memory doesn't have much to do with how this card will perform. BUT, if your current system didn't already have a card that you are replacing, installing this new card could give you some great pep because it will free up some of the resources you were using.

Will this work in crossfireX with my current 4GB 290X Lightning? I would get another Lightning but it looks like they're permanently out of stock.

I would steer away from this product. XFX told me when i had issues with it they could not replace it within the first month as it is limited edition and they had none in stock. So i purchased a 970 it works fine and a Asus r9 290x that also works fine. This card at the moment is sitting on my bookshelf holding up books. Different brands will however work crossfire as long it is an r9 290x. Memory wise, if you have a 4gb and an 8gb card they would only use 4gb extra 4 would be a waste.

What are you currently using for a GPU? And what PSU is it. Crappy PSUs don't put out consistent power. If you are going to go big on the GPU (IE $400+) you might as well drop an extra 100 to get a quality PSU. I run mine on a 850 watt gold EVGA with no issues.

Question 9

Does this support DirectX 12?  The specifications only list DirectX 11.2.

Actually it does, the GCN architecture is programmable and does allow this design to be Direct X 12 compliant.  Remember any AMD card that isn't a GCN core will not be able to do DX12.  Also remember that you will need Windows 10 and new DX12 drivers an applications that support DX12 before this will work.

What are the differences between DDR5 and GDDR5 ram?  Is one better than the other?

GDDR5 is high-performance, high-bandwidth memory used on devices that need such high performance, such as a graphics card. DDR3 (DDR5 isn't a thing) is general-purpose memory suited for low-latency devices, like a CPU. One isn't better than the other: they're used for different tasks, and they're not interchangeable (a CPU can't directly use GDDR5).

8GB of DDR3 is normal for a PC these days, while most video cards have 4GB of GDDR5.
