Pros:
I'm not abig believer in changing components all the time.
Spent extra at the time to get a performance card and have been total satisfied
Cons:
a con was the size (for the time)
mount it well
Overall Review: XFX warranty has been great - on other products - this card hasn't needed anything.!
Pros: Nice GPU never had a single issue, even bought a second one 6 months later for Xfire :) i was unsure of switching to XFX brand but am glad i did was less $$ then others i was looking at and has lasted about 2 years no problems
Cons: a little bit of a budget breaker when i first got the card 6 months later was much cheaper ;)
Overall Review: would buy xfx again but i don't see much for the new XX70 cards from them...
Pros: Wow!! Great card compared to my old 9800gt 1gb. Plays everything i need at excellent framerates most maxed out. nfs most wanted, medeval 2 total war, and bfbc2 with this card plays at 60+ with high settings (shadows turned low) 4xAA and 4x filtering. WEI rates this card 7.8 Cant hear the fan till u hit 45% speed. Good card for my overclocked Amd 940 at 3.5Ghz and 4gb sloww 800mhz ddr2 ram (next upgrade) Fits in coolermaster cm690 case and works with Antec bp 550watt psu.
Cons: Runs hot under load to my liking temps hit 85c in my case with a fan blowing air directly in front of the gpu. Could b fixed with raising the fan speed on the card some but the fan turned up high sounds like any other fan turned up high: annoying as hell. DRIVERS are garbage!! first time ati card user and i have to say these drivers are junk . Even windows load up time slowed down because of the drivers.. what is that all about ?!
Overall Review: This card runs fine with Antec bp 550 watt with 22 and 25 amps on the 12v rails. i have yet to feel any wierdness from my computer due to power shortages of any kind. Ran this gpu 100% load in several games so not really a power hungry card for the kind of performance you are getting. max 188 watts drawn.
Pros: Very durable, excellent-performing card. Last night, my water-cooled PC lost video output and when I started taking the PC apart to check it out, I noticed coolant on top of the video card below one of the water tubes. I took the video card apart and dried it with a hair dryer and vacuum cleaner to get out all of the coolant (there was actually a good amount underneath the GPU). When I reinstalled it and boot up my machine, the card worked fine as if nothing happened. Big kudos to XFX. I highly recommend their products.
Cons: None
Overall Review: XFX customer support is excellent as well. Their service representative was very friendly and knowledgeable. I'm buying XFX from now on.
Pros: High clock speeds, does well when its working
Cons: Poor driver compatibility with standard drivers. From day 1 this card had issues when running basic 2D applications like my windows desktop. XFX tech staff worked with me but never resolved the issues. Card ran at decent temps, and actually seemed to do better at high temps. I'm guessing the card doesn't like to run at anything other than full-speed.
Overall Review: This was my first and last use of cards made by XFX, i probably won't even buy another AMD-based card for a long time. I loved the specs on this card, but quality control needs to be used.
Pros: Fast card...when it works.
Cons: This card keeps freezing my computer while gaming (SC2). I've updated all the drivers and it continues to freeze during gameplay. It is extremely frustrating to be in the middle of an online match and suddenly freezing, forcing me to hard restart the computer. I had ZERO problems when I was using an Nvidia GTX 470.
Overall Review: I had always been an Nvidia customer. I've owned a GeForce 2, a 7600 GT, a 9800 GTX+, multiple GTX 470s, and a 520 GT. I've never had any issues with any of my Nvidia cards. This XFX card was on sale a few months back and I decided to purchase it for a friend's birthday. Immediately after installation, he noticed a overheating issue which caused his computer to crash. I decided to give him my GTX 470 instead, and tried to use the 5870 on my computer, which is a better computer. Nonetheless, this card fails to function properly as a gaming graphics processor, even on my i7 machine. I will never purchase another ATI/AMD video card. Stay away from ATI/AMD.
Pros: Very high preformance card. Runs pretty cool.
Cons: The fan is loud during games. Make sure you understand PSU's before you buy one for this card, it eats alot of power.
Overall Review: I would like to get another of the same make and model but they all seem to be over $300 and I got this one for much cheaper.

Pros: Fast! An obvious improvement from the 5770 I had been using in terms of raw gaming power. Seems to have a deeper color depth, perhaps the difference in going from 128bit card to 256bit? Better shader engine perhaps? I'm not that technical to know. Runs fairly cool under heavy gaming with the fan increasing automatically.
EDIT: More than 7 years later one of the two original cards purchases are still running and still an every day performer. One of these died about a year after I made this review and XFX were nice enough to replace it under warranty. There other original 5870 purchases is in this computer I'm typing on right now, my gaming computer.
Cons: As others have mentioned, under heavy duty gaming the fan can become noticeably loud.
EDIT: 7 years later this is about due for an upgrade, so inevitably this card will be retired likely by the end of the year. 1gb of ram is just not enough to keep up with the latest games anymore. However, this card will work in Star Citizen, albeit only 8-15 fps depending on settings and whether you have an SSD drive. Another game that has given it trouble is Fishing: Barents Sea, apparently due to the API the game uses which makes these older AMD cards (5000,6000 series) cards problematic to run the game with, with missing ocean or other eye candy. Otherwise, this old 5870 still plays games like Space Engineers, Fishing Planet, MotoGP '17, etc at a decent enough framerate to make it enjoyable.
Overall Review: Some performance marks from mine in a AMD 955 3.2ghz stock system with 8gb memory... City of Heroes on Ultra looks beautiful and runs steady 58-62fps range. Lord of the Rings Online runs 80-110+ max DX11 Ultra settings. 3dMark Vantage, P-score 14,868 GPU-score 17,037. 3dMark 11 P-score of 4,039, GPU score 4,076. All on stock card settings (not overclocked) with 11.3 ocl drivers. Bought me and my girlfriend one when they were on sale for our gaming rigs. We're both very happy and can't wait to get two more to try crossfire in the near future.
