5 out of 5 eggsLooks nice, blows Ice

Pros: Alright first time builder. Bought a cheaper psu, lived to regret it immediately.it exploded in less than a day and has been "out of stock" ever since (ironically there was an identical review below mine on that psu. So yea.recalled) I swore up and down I wouldn't touch an EVGA because there's a million coil whine reviews. But at the moment I could no longer wait, the EVGA was the best buy for the money so I took a shot, and let me just say this psu is nice. I have been completely wowed from the minute I opened the box. First off the paint is this matte granite garage floor color that i wish I could get a mobo in cus it's slick. Second this thing blows ice! I mean legitimate cold air cranks out of it while staying DEAD SILENT! I'm proud to say mine has no coil whine, bearing grind, or fan noise. It's been absolutely flawless. And I have no question wether it's running cus I can stick my hand back there and feel a winter breeze. As a bonus the quality of the wire wrap has impressed me. In my opinion it's also beautiful. It's a wonderful black meshy type cover that is not see through and looks freakin great in my case. My first thought was like hey!stupid hardware industry! This should be standard, with the option to cut it off if you don't want it.cus seriously. That's how life should work.

Cons: It is a bit longer than the cheapy psu of the same wattage. I have a Thermaltake a31 chaser case and it DOES cover two screw holes for the bottom mounted fan in this case!!! If you have a bottom mounted fan you plan on using make sure everything specs out the way you want it.

There's a gap between the fan shroud and the psu case. You can see it pretty clearly in the picture. You can fit a pencil in it. I thought it was a sign for concern as far as dust, dirt, and the odd chance something falls in there. But my psu faces down in my case so I guess it's really of no concern.unless zombie pencils attack in the night!

Overall Review: Seriously. Nobody else has mentioned the paint on this thing. I want a hole build coated in that! It's pretty amazing

3 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -fully modular
-cables look great
-EVGA's customer support is top notch

Cons: -had a weird issue and supplied power to my MB when computer powered off, spinning chassis fans.

Overall Review: I returned my motherboard thinking that was the issue, but no dice.
Just recently the PSU started making a weird arcing noise (pretty sure it wasn't coil whine), powering on my PC even when the power button wasn't pressed, or randomly shutting down.
EVGA customer service was absolutely top notch, and my new PSU from them seems to work just fine.
Only reason this is getting three eggs is due to the great customer service.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

1 out of 5 eggsExtremely quiet, while it lasts.

Pros: Extremely quiet.
Sheathed flat cables are a plus.

Cons: 1. This psu died after only a year and a half. I do not overclock or run at frequent high cpu or gpu usages. This is unfortunately my second EVGA psu to last less than 2 years. I love EVGA gpu's, but it seems their psu line has some issues. In another pc, an NZXT 850W Gold has outlived (2) different EVGA psu lifespans and then some. One culprit may be found in a disassembly review on Jonnyguru. It states that the initial versions used Japanese components but now mostly uses Capxon.

2. EVGA warranties must be registered within 30 days of purchase despite proof of purchase. Most companies I've encountered do not practice this policy; Asus, Corsair, LG, Logitech, MSI, Samsung, Toshiba etc.

3. The consumer must pay for S&H fees for an RMA process and the average turn around time is normally 10+ business days. This is somewhat reasonable for a variety of products though a psu is fairly lightweight. Coupled with strict EVGA packaging guidelines, again somewhat reasonable, the overall expenses involved in the RMA may be better off invested into a different psu.

It seems highly improbable that a majority of consumers will go through with an RMA for the previously mentioned reasons. The 12 year warranty, as listed on Newegg, is extremely appealing. Do note there's a discrepancy where the EVGA website states 10 years. Some manufactures lean on deceptive lures of high end capacitors and astounding warranty lengths such as this. While I hope that this is not true of EVGA it doesn't look too good in the face of these facts.

Overall Review: Sadly due to my experiences I will not be purchasing EVGA products or recommending them to others with their builds in the future.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Valued Customer,

I do apologize for the troubles you are having with your EVGA 650G1 power supply and any confusion you have with the warranty policy. I can assure you that we are here to assist and support you as best we can. I do want to note that "registration within 30 days" is not required what so ever. However an invoice is needed for the extended warranty otherwise a standard warranty would be available. If you haven't already done so, then I would encourage you to contact our 24 hour Technical Support team by phone 1.888.881.3842 and pressing option 1 or by email: Newegg@EVGA.com so that we can further assist you.

5 out of 5 eggsAlways trust EVGA

Pros: Awesome looking psu with great cables a very pleasant smell to it and i will always buy EVGA power supplies as they have never failed me in the past and have the best build quality for the price and doesn't break the bank for that price.

Cons: It doesn't stop me from crying at night and doesn't boost my self esteem when i look in the mirror.

Overall Review: Please yell at case makers for designing it so your rad fans can't be mounted in the case due to the horrible positioning of the rad almost toughing the cpu power cable forcing you to install the fans on the outside. If you have found a way for this product to make me feel better about myself please tell me as my pillow gets very wet at night.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat, Quiet, Great Price, but BIG

Pros: Full Mod, is great for clutter management. Great Price for the psu. And I have rolled a very quiet rig so far and this fits in nicely. I have about 5 fans and the psu fan and I am still around 23-27dbs.

Cons: I have a mid tower and had to rub it with a stick of butter and jump on it to get it in(jk). it is just a lil big and did just barely fit into the case had to take out my bottom fan to fit

Overall Review: great price if you have the room Get er Done! this is a good buy just took one egg off for size

Pros: - fully modular and the cables are all black, no ketchup and mustard here!
- very stable, no problems even on my 8600k @ 5Ghz w/ a 1070 strix and 3 drives!

Cons: - doesnt fit in my old p300 case, should have double checked first so that was my fault

5 out of 5 eggsWorked well and solved my problem!

Pros: -easy to set up
-wires were closed and compact
-included all the necessary connections and then some
-also included velcro for proper cable management
-labels were easy to see and understand

Cons: -the large 24pin cord was not properly labeled as to which end went into the motherboard and which end went into the PSU itself. (hardly a con)

Overall Review: The reason I bought this product was to assuage my concerns that my PSU was causing my gaming rig to fail. After finally deciding to purchase and replace my older 750W n-spire PSU, my desktop ran without a hitch. This power supply did just that.

4 out of 5 eggsGood product, but one con that annoys the fool out of me.

Pros: - Very quiet
- Power efficient
- Modular
- Easy to install

Cons: This being the first computer that I have built and also a computer with a side-panel window, I wanted the inside to look very nice as for cable management. However. the stock cables are UNBELIEVABLY stiff and were very tough to work with. They are unattractive and cumbersome. This affected my cable management and honestly it is quite average looking.

Overall Review: If I had a chance to do it again, I would invest in non-stock cables.

Pros: This is a great modular power supply for the money. It can run 2 cpus at one time. You also have a lot of PCI E plugs. (can't name number at the top of my head) Great all in all.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat psu

Pros: Great price. I have been drawing about 350 watts from it 24/7 for about 2 months with an antminer S3 without a hiccup. I don't know about others but mine is as quiet as can be. I mailed my rebate out on 11-12-14 and got it on 12-24 14. no hassles and fast. A simple procedure.

Cons: none

Overall Review: I wonder if it will power an S5 at 590 watts.

5 out of 5 eggsThe little things...

Pros: - 80+ Gold rating
-Sleeved modular cables
-Textured housing, looking great and hides fingerprints/dust
- Changed their VGA cables to black from red so it matches all builds now.
-Included a 24pin jumper to test the PSU
-VELCRO included for cable management
-Quiet fan
-Stable rails

Cons: -Large heatshrink on all cables
- No case badge? (only us showbuilders would complain right?)

Overall Review: Overall for price to performance, i would highly recommend this PSU. It looks great in a rig! That textured housing really adds character to the PSU, and hides any dust or fingerprints. I'm happy EVGA listened to the community when it came to the red VGA cables as I know many system builders were frusterated with the red clashing with non-red builds. EVGA does sell cable kits, while they are AMAZING cable kits, it is an extra expense.

Pros: Fully modular
Well built and packaged

Cons: This PSU is fairly long and in the case i bought it was a challenge to route cables properly to get it to not feel like i was mashing them too much, especially the MB power. I knew this going in, but just make sure this will fit your case.

5 out of 5 eggsPSU Redefined

Pros: This is the first EVGA PSU I have purchased. This is a fully modular unit with excellent cabling and design. The unit is very attractive from a styling/mod perspective. It includes a test connector to dry test components; very nice. It is also whisper quiet and the fan is designed for maximum airflow.

Cons: Flat cables might be a consideration, although the carbon fiber appearance of the shielding is very nice. Nothing worth taking points off for.

Overall Review: UPDATE 4/17/2018. Still going strong at about 10 hours per day 7 days a week. Really nice product.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing PSU

Pros: -Good wattage and rating for the price
-cables come with a nice sleeving unlike some PSU's that have the cables sandwiched flat together
-cables are sufficiently long for most any application

Cons: -none

Overall Review: I have bought this PSU 3 times for both a Gaming and Cluster application and each time it has not disappointed me. In the cluster setting I have not noticed it losing any performance, generating excessive noise, or heat in times where it can run for over 30 hours with a CPU at 100% load. Would recommend

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent performance, decently priced.

Pros: - Plenty of power
- Quiet
- Easy install
- High quality

Cons: - None so far

Overall Review: So far this product has worked well, especially for the price. 650w is plenty of power for my usage. I don't overclock, although I have the hardware to do so. It's a high quality piece of equipment that has held up well.

The only comment I'd make... is that there's a lot of black soot on and around my case. However that could be environment specific, in my room...? No idea if it's caused by the PSU or something completely separate.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazeballs

Pros: Ok, I'm a first time builder. I didn't want to go with a cheaper psu even though I could use the money... I bought this one because it was fully modular 80 plus gold and most importantly no ketchup and mustard wires!
So this thing blows a lot of air and cold air too! I have it taking hot air out of my system because of the dead silent 135mm fan that just blows a ton of air...

Cons: Not really a con but when installing my cpu power I dropped a screw (from the motherboard because I had to take out screw to fit cpu power though) into the power supply and had to take it out and... Well this psu is pretty tough because I was smacking it and shaking it pretty hard... I got it out and it still work which was good...

Overall Review: This psu is the best for the money! Dead silent! Nice cables! Huge fan!

5 out of 5 eggsPretty nice

Pros: First time builder. Came with a testwr and worked. Felt hefty and looked really nice. I imagine this is what a decent psu should look like. Hooked everything up sans gpu and nothing exploded so that's good.

Cons: This isn't really a con but my case was kinda small and this baby took up quite some room. My only real complaint if I had to have one would be that the cables were a bit stiff so my small case seemed even smaller.

4 out of 5 eggsWHY did you do that EVGA?

Pros: Mail in rebate
Gold
Modular
Warranty
EVGA

Cons: How can it have 4 12v rails each rated for 20A but combined they are only about 53A?
Why did you mess up the sata power cables; all the connectors on each cable are not facing the same way marking it stupid to put on a string of HDDs.
Also because of how the sata power connectors are oriented (my case wont allow me to mount the drives upside down) the cable ends up the farther away from the PSU... but they arent long enough to reach the PSU when installed that way.

Overall Review: Fractal Define R5 case
Dont put the floppy power connector on with the rest of the molex cables, include it as an adapter, if you must include it.

Pros: Works great. Used for my first build and instructions were fairly simple. hardest part was figuring how to hook up to different types of Video card plugins

Cons: Makes a loud whine when pushing the graphics card to its limits. Witcher 3 with ultra settings is an example. first i thought it was the msi gtx970 but I switched it out with a nvidia 660ti and narrowed it down to the Power Supply.

Pros: It's been a year since I built my PC. I bought this power supply due to the November sale and its gold power rating. So far, it's great! It works as intended as it powers the computer with no issues. I have to put my ear right against my case to hear the fan running so its definitely quiet enough. It being fully modular is also wonderful for the ease of installation and the completely black cabling with included EVGA branded velcro straps.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat PSU

Pros: -80+ Gold, fully modular, looks great.
-All-black sleeving for the cables. Hugely important for me, wanted that clean black look in my case not the rainbow of ugly colors that come at the end of many other cables.

Cons: -None. Don't know what the deal is with these other reviews on here. All of my cables fit perfectly and it doesn't make any noise.
-I guess having 4 12V rails instead of 1, like the 750G2, could be considered a con, but meh. Who cares.

Overall Review: Just running one R9 270x, so plenty of power for me. Think I would be fine with this even if I decided to get another one.
Great PSU, highly recommended.

4 out of 5 eggsNoisy?

Pros: Great power supply

Cons: noisy. I can hear it from about 20 feet away, (the size of my room). I do think I'll be changing this some time in the future. Like others have said it's about 2X louder than the rest of my build combined. It's not "loud" but I wanted a silent build so to still be able to hear it from 20 feet away is somewhat annoying. How loud is it really... try humming as softly as you can. You would still be able to hear the fan. At about 20 feet away your humming would completely mask the fan noise.... but you'd still hear it once you stopped humming. I know humming is strange benchmark but that's all I could think of

Pros: good with wire management
fairly quiet for the most part

Cons: it's starting to fail after 5 months
causing reboots during games

Overall Review: A month ago I would've recommended this piece of hardware indefinitely. But recently I've been having trouble with random reboots during games, and i've narrowed it down to my psu. I'm trying to either get a replacement (if its even possible) or try a different brand. I don't have much money at the moment so this is twice as painful to deal with right now.

- Gold efficiency
- Long CPU power cable

Cons: - Super loud compared to a CX750M
- Stiff cables

Overall Review: I'm a bit picky about noise pollution. Seeing as I'm using a thin Lian Li cube case(PC-V359WX), noise leaks out pretty terribly if the parts themselves aren't quiet. This power supply is too loud for my tastes, idling at a fairly high RPM (no load). This is a deal breaker for me, however someone with a more insulated case may have a better experience.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat for crypo miners or watercooling

Pros: Super efficient running crypo miners. I use this to power 4 Gridseed Blades (8 40 chip cards. This powers all 4 with plenty of room. Kill a watt shows that the load is ~350. Depends on what I am mining. My old PSU that this replaced pulled almost 100 watts more at the wall with the same stuff. It also comes with a shorted mobo cap (green wire to black) so you can run it without being plugged into a mobo. That is a really nice feature if you are running miners like me or want to watercool and run the pump for any number of reasons with the computer turned off. I got this for 50 bucks after rebate and It is perfect.

Cons: IDK, you might not like the textured look.

Overall Review: This is fully modular, so you do not have to even plug in the 24 pin, but the included bypass will not fit directly into the modular space, so if you want to use the little cap, you still have to plug in the mobo cables.

5 out of 5 eggsZero issues, great PSU

Pros: -Awesome price
-Textured casing, looks great and resists fingerprints and scratches
-Fully modular
-80+ gold
-Sexy sleeved black cables
-SILENT

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I felt like I needed to write this review and give this great product a 5 egg review. There are too many people giving this PSU a bad rating because they got faulty parts, especially from a company that offers cross shipping. My unit works perfectly and has been for the last month. I'm extremely happy with it. It's almost like the price was too good to be true.

3 out of 5 eggsNot Quiet

Pros: All the cables are nice and modular.
Looks fancy with its coating.
Velco straps for cable management.
No more handle bar!
No issues powering on so far.

Cons: Noisiest component in my build! I can hear the fan moving air above all. It defeated the reason I got quiet case fans.
The fan doesn't sound like it is spinning smoothly either. It sounds like it is hitting something, but the blades are clear. Perhaps it is wobbly.

Overall Review: I'm using a stock Intel fan, AF120 QE, AF140 QE, and the stock 140mm fan from the Obsidian 350D. My graphics card is an EVGA GTX 760 SC w/ ACX.

Manufacturer Response:

5 out of 5 eggsWorking excellently past FIVE YEARS!

Pros: Never has any issues.

Overall Review: I bought this product with my first PC config for an Intel 6600 build. I am still using it now with a newer AMD 5600X and it works just as fine. Never had any complaints at all!

The provided cables are very well built and are still in excellent condition.

5 out of 5 eggslong lasting

Pros: i bought this in 2016 for my first gaming PC and over the years it has given me strong power and reliability, i just bought and installed the 750W supply today and will write on that in a few years, this psu however will be put into my dedicated VR rig and i hope will work just as good at the 10 year mark.

Overall Review: i highly recommend this for smaller pcs or for those people who just want to buy one and not need a new one for years to come

5 out of 5 eggsYour First (And Last) PSU

Pros: - modular (there is absolutely ZERO reason you should buy non-modulars anymore)
- rock solid, zero issues whatsoever since 2015 (I do not take good care of my hardware either)
- very affordable, especially for the quality and longevity it provides

Cons: - EVGA didn't pay ME to order this from them

Overall Review: This is the best darn PSU I've ever purchased. Sure, it's the only PSU I've ever purchased, but still...

2 out of 5 eggsToo loud, too big.

Pros: I got it on sale so the price was good.

Cons: This thing is loud. Really loud. Too loud. It’s also considerably large that the other PSUs I’ve used, so it makes for a cramped case.

Overall Review: I was using a Corsair CX550M before and that was whisper quiet, so I’d recommend that if you’re in need of a new PSU. Literally the only reason I’m keeping this is because I don’t want to waste even more money shipping it back.

4 out of 5 eggsExcellent PSU for the price

Pros: EVGA quality. More than enough Connector strands to do what you need. Runs cool with the huge fan.

Cons: Fan is pretty loud. No Eco mode.

Overall Review: I have run 2 of these power supplies with no issues. I ran a 1070/6700k build and a 6x RX560 build with zero issues. I wish the fan was a fad bit quieter but it does run a lot cooler than the GQ line Ive used so I'll take that.

5 out of 5 eggsIt's been working good

Pros: - Worked nicely out of the box.
- I like the rugged textured finish.
- Came with multiple cables of different lengths to accommodate most builds nicely without excess cable to manage.
- Power on self tester was much appreciated as i had to wait well over the 30 day return period before i could get my hands on the elusive 8700k cpu. Using the tester i could confirm the PSU and other items i ordered worked.

Cons: - None yet.

Overall Review: - Great product, highly efficient.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: - Plenty of power options
- Fully modular
- Quiet fan

Cons: - Included fasteners did not thread easily.

Overall Review: The fasteners included did not thread smoothly in all 4 locations. Looks like some of the cover was causing the fit to be a bit tighter than was probably intended.

4 out of 5 eggsGood budget PSU

Pros: +Four 12V rails, sensibly laid out so not a concern.
+All black cables!

Cons: -Kinda loud all the time.
-Cable sleeving is a cheapish plastic weave.

Overall Review: Don't install fan-up if noise is a concern. My case is the Define Nano C, and it was louder than all other components even under moderate load. Rotating it to fan-down reduces noise drastically but I have a carpet and would have preferred to not have had to set my case on an old board.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product if you don't mind the noise

Pros: Fully modular
Nice black cables

Cons: The noise. It's the noisiest part of my build by a long shot

Overall Review: Don't get this if you're trying to build a silent PC. Otherwise go for it.

2 out of 5 eggsGood but shuts off when under load

Pros: Runs quiet and is stable during normal use.

Cons: Automatically shuts off when it is under load. Whenever I would play a game or run furmark it would automatically shut off, even though it should have been capable of running my graphics card.

Overall Review: Buy the G2 instead.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Supply

Pros: -Runs quiet, powers my build w/ no problems
-Modular

Cons: -Bigger than it looks

Overall Review: This a great power supply. It's weighty, quiet, and modular. I'm using it in a Fractal Design Define Nano S and it fits fine but it's a lot bigger than it looks. It's almost touching my graphics card leaving barely any breathing room for it. But it's not too big of a deal since my GPU temps are still fine. Overall great supply.

2 out of 5 eggsEasy Setup! Coil whine after two weeks!

Pros: This PSU was easy an easy setup (as most power supplies should be). Being fully modular this PSU was easy to integrate in my MATX build.

Cons: Been running this PSU for about 2 weeks on a new build and the coil whine kicked in!!! The purpose of my new build was to have a silent build and the coil whine makes me cringe! Totally defeats the purpose.

Overall Review: I will attempt and RMA through EVGA, and I will more than likely end up with a different brand of PSU.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Product! Good Price!

Pros: Quiet! I hardly notice it running.
Efficient. Gold plus rated which makes it one of the most efficient power supplies on the market.
True 20Amps on the 12V Rail. Great for powering my bitcoin miners no problem. Other power supplies don't supply the advertised amps on the 12V rail which makes it difficult to find a 12V rail strong enough to power what you need.
4 - 12V rails.

Cons: The cable connections on the power supply or the ends of the cables make for a loose fit. I had some VGA cables that I thought clicked into place on the power supply, wiggle and pop out while i was moving the cables through my computer case.

Overall Review: I would recommend this product because you get whats advertised. And it's an affordable price.

5 out of 5 eggsWorking solid!

Pros: Black cables
Gold rating
Lots of power to future-proof my build
Looks nice

Cons: Does have the loudest fan in my case, but that's not saying much since it's a be quiet brand case

Overall Review: I wish the fan would slow or turn off when under light load. Though I do always hear it, it's still very quiet. But maybe an extra $20 or so for a quieter PSU would've been worth the investment...

5 out of 5 eggsBest Power Supply around at that price/performance

Pros: - Cool as ice
- Quiet
- Fully modular
- Basically everything the description said it was.

Cons: - None so far.

Overall Review: I bought this Power Supply to replace my cr*ppy Rosewill RD700 (bullsh*t PSU by the way, stay away from Rosewill in general). It's basically exactly what you pay for. It's quiet, yet extremely cool and functions efficiently.

It came in a very neat, large packaging, and you can tell that EVGA cares about their computer components as much as I do, which is good. I can easily tell that the power supply is a fine piece of hardware just by looking at it. It has a nice, large PSU fan and guard, the wiring and cables are high quality. Installation was easy, but that goes without saying especially when you go for a fully modular power unit.

Overall definitely a good PSU, and I would buy from EVGA again if I ever need a power supply upgrade.

Pros: Packaged well, lots of deversity

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than some of EVGA's newer models

Pros: Big sturdy product
Comes with nice wrapped cables
Fully modular

Cons: Doesn't have ECO mode

Overall Review: I just bought 2 650 watt EVGA PSU's this week. This one, and another with ECO mode, so I wouldn't have to listen to fan all the time. This product has more quality than the more expensive GS model with ECO mode. It came with nice wrapped cables, and an overall better quality of build to it. And was a much less expensive alternative to the GS model. This is the quality I expect from EVGA, the other more expensive GS model is not at all up to what I was expecting from EVGA. What are you doing EVGA???
