2 out of 5 eggsCan't Believe it is PNY

Pros: I don't know if I can say anything about good, but I will say that the flash drive seemed to work in FAT32 but was slow compared to SanDisk of the same size.

Cons: Slow drive. When formatted to NTFS they simply don't work. I have several flash drives, and this one is horrible. There is not an indicator light of any kind for drive activity.

Overall Review: I have several PNY flash drives and this one is the first that I am unhappy with; Very Unhappy. There is something strange about it; maybe PNY did not make these or they are using some low grade chips.

Pros: price

Cons: Received on 11-18-2013 and it is dead as of now 11-22-2013 First ands last PNY product I will purchase as I will not pay to return a defective product, so I will just eat the loss. Based on my experience I would not recommend this product to anyone since you will pay almost double the price if it goes bad during the return policy set by Newegg.

5 out of 5 eggsGood device

Pros: Compact, ample storage space, great price.

Cons: None.

Overall Review: I've noticed many posts here comment about this device being slow. I've had this one since June 2012 and have used it on several different computers. One observation I have made is that it is somewhat slow on *some* systems, depending on what anti-virus/anti-malware application is installed. Also, on Windows Vista if I copy via Windows Explorer, the transfer rate is only about 6MB/second. But on the same machine, I see about 14MB/second when I use "Replicator" to copy files. Windows Explorer is a little faster on XP and on Windows 7, than on Vista......not sure why.
On computers running Symantec, AVG or TrendMicro, file transfers are consistently MUCH slower than on similar systems running different AV products (Kaspersky, ESET, MSSE).

5 out of 5 eggsTwo Tested

Pros: Bought two of these as Shellshocker. Reformatted as 32gb FAT in Ubuntu Linux 12.04. (They come formatted FAT. But I always like to reformat anyway.)

I copied a 1.7 GB video file to each. Then copied it back to my computer. Here are the results.

USB Stick 1:
Read: 41.3 MB/s
Write: 26.2 MB/s

USB Stick 2:
Read: 48.3 MB/s
Write: 26.2 MB/s

Cons: They drives don't heat up enough to melt the butter on my toast.

They didn't come with a crystal ball so I could see whether they will still be working a year from now.

Overall Review: I've buy a lot of USB drives to give to friends and family. (Give the gift of data!) These are pretty perfect. I don't think I've ever gotten drives this fast for this cheap.

1 out of 5 eggsBeware

Pros: It's a flash drive. When it works, it holds 32 Gb (if you measure generously).

Cons: Mine died after about a month. (There are a lot of complaints about the PNY 128Gb Flash Drive dying, too.) NewEgg replaced it for me very quickly, but still.

Also, not terribly fast,

and no activity indicator (LED).

Old-fashioned separate cap; they act like being able to attach it to the other end (if you're not using the hanging hole) is a major feature. ?!?

Overall Review: The list of cons is a lot longer than the list of pros. No matter HOW cheap it is, be sure you're only using it for backup, so if it dies you won't be heartbroken.

I'm thinking there's a good reason why PNY reduced their warranty from lifetime to 1 year on flash drives.

5 out of 5 eggsPNY Eulogy

Pros: Tough. Faithful to the end. Honorably retired.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Far too late to do anyone any good - not many looking for USB2 flash drives these days - but this tuff little flash drive deserves, at least, a decent eulogy. I carried it around for a year, writing & overwriting almost every week and it never failed me. I recently gave it away to someone after imaging her PC to it. I'm confident it'll work if it ever has to. Replaced, for myself, with USB3 drive and am sorry to say it seems flimsy and delicate in comparison.

Pros: What can I say, it's 32GB. It was size I was after and the price is great.

Cons: Not very fast and No light - bummer, I removed it the other day and lost all I had stored on it. Just wasn't careful. The software tool I use to eject it usually does a great job but for some reason, my USB port wasn't recognizing the drive. Hopefully it wont be a problem again.

Overall Review: I would recommend this drive to anyone who wants the space and is not concerned about speed. Great deal for the price.

1 out of 5 eggsunbelievable...

Pros: cheap if your time is worth nothing

Cons: USB drive tries to write on a chip that either has been subjected to NO QUALITY CONTROL or is a known piece of garbage looking and looking for groups of mem cells that can be written... I'm sitting here watching this thing try over and over to write the same files FOR OVER AN HOUR!!!! This is something PNY should own up to...

Overall Review: The drive is not slow, per se... the long wait comes from PNY's strategy of selling drives the contain dice that are packed with defects! The long wait comes from the chip's protracted attempts to see if it can cells for data that will stay put for more than a minute... I have to get something done and I am EXTEMELY frustrated with this thing ---

3 out of 5 eggsDurable, but what write speed ?

Pros: Very durable, nice key-ring or shoestring hole.

Cons: The write speed is unknown, and could be very very slow.

Overall Review: I purchase flash drives from Newegg, but they cancelled my last order, so I happen to make this purchase with another well-known, on-line seller. I'm bringing my review here too, because there must be a better way of purchasing flash drives. We place an order, but have no idea, what will be shipped.

I placed two separate orders with another well-known, on-line seller (six days apart), and found a great internal difference in what I received. This difference caused the write speed to be considerably slower. And I found that these flash drives can look the same, but they are not the same, at all !

In XPSP3, if Safely Remove Properties states, "pny USB 2.0 FD USB Device", and under Windows Explorer, the Format box reads 29.9GB, the flash drive is slow. If you see "USB Device" under Properties in Safely Remove, and the Format box in Windows Explorer reads 30.2GB, then the flash drive is fast. Almost twice as fast, near the speed of a Patriot, and that's a big difference.

Pros: Have had for almost 2 years now and still works good as new! It's a flash drive so it does its job of storing, transferring, and doing everything its designed to do with simple plug and play interface. Also very durable, I have accidentally let this thing go through the washer/dryer at least 3 times and yet still willing to do its job. Would highly recommend!

Cons: Cap has started to loosen over the year. I prefer the type that slide, but for the price it's a simpe and effective design.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat drive for now.

Pros: + Very solid feeling construction (textured ABS)
+ Standard footprint and cap design (not going to block adjacent ports)
+ No indicator LED
+ Respectable read/write speeds (see other thoughts)
+ Subdued blue & black color scheme with smooth area for labeling.

Cons: - Consider whether you plan on having USB 3.0 ports during the lifetime of the device. You might want to future-proof your purchase, if so, by getting a USB 3.0 drive.
- Cap _might_ wear out over time and become loose. But it fits snugly, so I don't expect it to be a problem.

Overall Review: ~25 MB/s block write
~25 MB/s block read
Tested by large file copy. The write speed is one of the best I've seen on USB 2.0 flash. The read is not the best, but respectable.

2 out of 5 eggsIs PNY getting cheap or are these a knock-off?

Pros: It's a very cheap 32gb thumb drive.

Cons: So cheap, in fact, that there's a few problems. The biggest problem is that this drive will not work in things like tablets or portable media devices.

I've seen this problem before with other USB drives. When large capacity (2gb+) drives were first coming out and costing over $100, knock-off brands would take a 500mb drive, add a compression algorithm and sell it as a cheap 4gb device.

I'm not saying these are cheap 4gb drives with an 8x compression and the PNY brand stamped on as an afterthought, but that's what they look and act like.

Overall Review: I have several PNY USB drives. (Including two actual 32gb PNY drives which I bought years ago and which work in tablets and other devices.) They all have raised lettering molded into the housing and covers. They all have translucent colored windows, where you can see the chip, which have "Attaché" in raised lettering molded into the plastic. They all have a very bright LED indicator.

These 32gb PNY have none of this.

I'm more inclined to think these are cheap knock-offs and that PNY would not actually sell such an inferior product.

2 out of 5 eggsWorks, but really slow!

Pros: Price was reasonable for the capacity advertised.

Cons: Most devices boast at least a 5-10 MBps speed write. This guy is slow to read, slow to write. A 1 GB transfer should take a couple of minutes, but on this guy it's closer to 10 minutes. Definitely get what you pay for here. If I knew the performance was quite that low, I'd have spent the extra $5-10 bucks for a Patriot device. Those have always been fast for me.

Overall Review: If you have no speed concerns, seems fine. Otherwise, it's worth spending a few extra bucks for better hardware.

4 out of 5 eggsyou get what you paid for

Pros: the size is indeed 32GB (those, who complain that it is not, has to read about GB vs GiB, google is your help).

Cons: speed-wise, it's in the entry class of all cheap USB flash sticks.

Overall Review: I measured 6.5MB/s write speed, which is actually slightly better then the entry level USB sticks (5MB/ is a typical write speed). Thus, I received exactly what I was expecting. And for the price I paid ($15 for 32GB), it's a very decent stick.

Pros: See the "Other thoughts" for a possible "fix" for the speed (or lack thereof) issue.

Overall Review: On a Mac, OS 10.6

5 out of 5 eggsWorth the $1K price tag

Pros: Not only does this thousand dollar drive transfer data at lightning fast speeds, it also contains a indefinable, extra-dimensional "spark" which is enabled when placed into a USB 4.0 slot. This dark matter burst creates a negative-mass cosmic string, in other words a 1-dimensional topological defect in time. This fully traversible wormhole creates a bridge from one dimension to another.

Cons: Relativistic time dilation

Pros: Very Large Drive : This is what I need for my media files. This thing can store my Music, Videos and Large Pictures for me to take on the road without having to take my laptop and tablet with me. I can just plug this into a friend's laptop and were good to go.

Cons: Sluggish on Windows XP : Don't Expect this drive to be speedy on Windows XP Unless you have a powerful Processor and large amounts of RAM in your computer.

Overall Review: As I Mentioned, this thing was designed for Windows Vista, Windows 7 or better. Do not use this USB Drive on Windows XP, as it requires a fast processor such as a Core 2 Duo or large amounts of RAM(i.e 4 GB). So grab Windows 7 and Plug In.

Pros: Well, for 9999.00 dollars (and only 9.99 shipping) I was expecting something a bit above average, but this far surpassed anything I could imagine.
