Pros: When it is connected, it is very fast.

Cons: I am using Vista Ultimate 64 bit and it constantly drops the connection. No matter what settings are changed with the adapter or router, the connection continues to drop.

Overall Review: I wish it worked better...

4 out of 5 eggslinksys draft N

Pros: After dismal connectivity problems with my 802-11G router & adapters, I installed a WRT300N and WUSB300N. Performance jumped from 1Mb/sec to (varying) 47 to 216Mb/sec and 50% performance. There are 5 to 6 other WIFI routers within range of my house, which I believe accounted for the bad "G" performance.

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: When running "G" protocol with no or one other WIFI router in range, performance was 48Mb/sec. When it 5 or 6 routers are active, my performance dived to 1Mb/sec. This might be the source for some of the gripes. I got my PLEBR10s working just in case.

4 out of 5 eggsSo Far So Good

Pros: Connects quickly and has strong signal anywhere in house. Nice, compact and versitile. Does the job.

Cons: Seems very delicate. Software is useless. I recomend putting in disc but don't install. Connect device and let windows run it's hardware wizard and search for drivers on disc.

Overall Review: Rating would be 5 stars if hardware was more sturdy and software was better. Otherwise very happy with product.

4 out of 5 eggsADAPTER

Pros: Nice reception and easy to set up. The stand makes it easy to place on a wall shelf for maximum performance.

Cons: It seems I have to go through a (repair) everytime I restart my computer. I have my wireless router set to non-broadcast but still my adapter is set to auto connect and it always seems to come up and say limited connectivity. When I right click and select repair it goes through the process and connects. (Don't know yet if this is a bug, or a quirk)...Sending an email to mfg currently.

Overall Review: Definitely need to add an extension to the original USB cable if you are coming off the back of your computer.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product, no problems with Windows 7 x64.

Pros: The driver cd that came with the card had a nice, simple install app that installed x64 drivers that seem to work great with windows 7, so I didn't have to use the notoriously bad generic windows drivers.

Great speed and range, I get an "Excellent" connection almost always, whereas my old card got only low to good. Even if the routers all the way on the other side of the house, I still get a great ping in online games, and great throughput for downloads.

The package came with a driver cd, a USB extension cable attached to a base/stand (keeps it upright) and just an extension cable, though why you wouldn't use the handy base is beyond me.

Lots of settings in the adapter settings page, for stuff like the preamble, Ad Hoc wifi mode, whether you want to use frame aggregation (increases data throughput on N networks through cutting unneeded ACK frames out of transmission and combining into single frames)

Cons: None that I can find.

Overall Review: UPS got it to me in a single day, pretty impressive, even for newegg.

The antenna's look kind of thin and delicate, I wouldn't say this as a con as it really has no impact on the performance or use of the card, but I would not install the card in the back of the computer, since a bump against the wall might break them.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple Great Adapter

Pros: Easy to set up, easy to use. Gets great signal on WEP, WPA, and WPA2 networks. Good build quality, compact design. Hasn't caused any problems on my i7 920 build with Windows 7 x64 Ultimate.

Cons: Not necessarily a con, but be careful of the 2 antennas. They seem somewhat easy to snap off if you aren't careful and bump the adapter accidentally with the antennas extended.

Overall Review: It's been working perfectly for me since October 2009.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product! Highly Recommend

Pros: AWESOME range. I bought this for my brother who is in the basement of our house (approx 30 feet from router but through 2 floors). With his old wireless G adapter he was getting connection speeds around 54mbps at best and 11mbps more often. Now he is getting speeds of 270mbps! Also the connection hasnt dropped at all while his old D Link adapter was dropping all the time. This is with our Linksys WRT150N router. Great Combo.

Cons: Havent found any yet.

Overall Review: Comes with a nice base/extension cable and the anttenas help boost the connection speed even more.

4 out of 5 eggsUSB wireless adapter

Pros: Very good speed. By using the included docking station and/or a USB extention cable, you can move the adapter to a location for a better signal.

Cons: Cr@p install software. Mine would only connect using WPA EAS. If it wasn't for these (minor??) problems I'd give it a 5 Excellent rating. Pulled my hair out trying to trouble shoot.

Overall Review: Do not use the software to istall this card. Plug it in and let Windows detect it.

Pros: Easy to install. It can be moved in any direction for better reception because of the holder, and supplied cable, no need to fuss with your laptop

Cons: None so far

Overall Review: I could not rate this a 5 because I am not an expert. I installed it onto my Dell Inspiron 8200 laptop.I purchased the Dlink USB1.1 to USB2.0 to upgrade my old usb to the faster usb2.Plugged the wusb300n into the Dlink adapter, and it worked right away.I did download the latest Vista driver from the Linksys web site, and installed using this driver. I never used any of the software that came in the box. You don't need to. I have purchased a lot of items from NewEgg.com they are great people to deal with

3 out of 5 eggsDied on me

Pros: Was a good price and great speed when it was working

Cons: Had to disconnect myself from my wireless network every so often because the connection would slow which seemed like the bandwidth was being choked out.
Seemed to run hot
Made more noise than any other wireless device i have used in the past

Overall Review: It wasn't much of a hassle having to disconnect and reconnect every once in a while but the other day after only a few months of having it, it just died on me. I thought it may have been my computer or one of the connectors but i just plugged in a different wireless device to the same adapter and it worked just fine. When i plug it in the power light comes on but my computer does not recognize any device or wireless networks.
This has nothing to do with Newegg, it came in tact in the package, arrived in about 2 days (with free shipping) and everything was great with them as usual.

Pros: I am about 25 to 30 feet from the router in our home and I get a perfect signal.

Cons: On occasion this unit does stop getting a signal and the computer must be restarted to get the signal back.. but after the restart i have never had an issue with it going out again.. this happens very rarely.

Pros: Got this to hopefully get a consistent 3 bars (Good) from going back and forth between 2 and 3. Installed software and hooked this item up, BOOM! 5 Bars! Solid "Excellent" signal as good as when I'm 4' from the wireless box. Now I'm 100 feet away and it's still solid.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat adapter! For a day.

Pros: Nice shade of blue. Black a nice contrast accent color.

Cons: Worked for a day. Worked for a day, under Windows 7, attached to the base with cord. Then it stopped detecting the network in the base. It would only detect the wireless network if removed from the base and plugged directly in to a USB port. When moved back to the base, regardless of port, the computer saw the adapter, but the adapter did not see the network.

Overall Review: When it did work, reception strength wasn't that great. The plain old G adapters elsewhere and farther from the router get better signal strength.

5 out of 5 eggsGood

Pros: - Works, connected at 270mb/s, 75% from across the house
- Handy extension cord & docking stand
- Indicator lights for Power & Activity
- Slim design, easy on the eyes
Bought this and a Linksys 802.11n router 'cause my D-Link G setup kept dropping. I haven't lost connection once since I got this. Way faster (270mb/s) & better signal (84% across the house) than my G connection was.

Cons: Absolutely none

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Performance

Pros: We have this connected to our downstairs living room PC with the router upstairs in the office. Running Win Xp x64, I have never seen the slightest hiccup in connection. Lightning fast speeds over the network and max speed through the cable modem. We are using WPA2 encription, flawlessly. Complete plug-and-play, working instantly out of the box. I haven't seen any problems of overheating.

Cons: The VERY small antennae seem to have flimsy construction but I have seen no problems yet. The USB connection in the base station seems to move slightly on touch but I haven't had to push it back into the base. Let me add that I have had NO PROBLEMS since purchase, these are just my observations.

Overall Review: I bought a Dell 531s, not realizing it ia a small form factor, being too far away from the router to run a cable, and unabe to add an internal wireless card. I was iffy to buy a USB wireless adapter but I am thouroughly impressed by its performance. If you are wanting to use this on a laptop where it will be getting a lot of movement, I would be afraid of the antennae breaking off because they seem very fragile. Otherwise, I am now a die-hard linksys fan and with their wireless-N router, I never even think about my network, it has never stopped working, even though I have Comcast internet.

1 out of 5 eggsToo bad...

Pros: Looks sort of nice, comes with stand.

Cons: This device, nice as it is, WILL NOT WORK WITH WINDOWS 7. The drivers are not win 7 64 bit compatible and this problem has been going on since win 7 came out. Linksys and cisco seem about as intersted in fixing this as I am in eating a ceasar salad made of twigs.

Overall Review: If you run or plan to run windows 7 64 bit DO NOT BUY. expecsive plastic brick that I will have to pay to ship back to newegg. Grrrrr.

Cons: Was unsuccessful in getting it to work with Ubuntu. That may be more of an issue with me being unfamiliar with Linux in general, as well as not being very tech savvy.

1 out of 5 eggsFailure to Launch

Pros: Good concept. I also got a sweet deal on the price ($40 off). It looks really awesome...

Cons: So I saw that people were bsod-ing all over the reviews, but they were all using Windows 7, which it doesn't say it supports. I figured that their problem was because they were using it for an OS it wasn't made for, and I'd be fine since I run XP still. Then I got one... I tried to install drivers from the disc, which didn't autorun, and none of the exe files would do anything. I had two that opened a tab in the taskbar, but there was no window and I couldn't install the drivers. I found drivers online, but they did the same thing. Finally, I tried to let Windows figure out what to do with it. I'll give you one geuss as to how that worked. BSOD!!! Unless I find a way to fix this by Monday, I'm RMA-ing it. I have all kinds of awesome Linksys goodies that work phenonminally, but this apparently isn't one of them.

Overall Review: I feel bad RMA-ing a product from a company I've been so happy with, but I guess I have to. I'm sure Newegg will treat me better than this product did. I love shopping here! Better luck next time...

5 out of 5 eggsLinksys Wireless N USB

Pros: This adapter has worked for 2 different laptops that I have connected to my home network using the Linksys Draft N router (with 2 external antenna). This worked well under Windows Vista and also now under Windows 7 on both HP/Compaq laptops. I did download/install the Marvell driver about 1 - 1 1/2 years ago that helped with some dropout issues, etc. I operate mine in "mixed" mode since my TiVo is connected and it only operates at "G" speed. Even so, my 2 laptops at N speed work great/fast at about 60-70% reception.

Cons: I have experienced periodic disconnects in Win 7 with this. I'm guessing this is due to a built-in power-saving function in Win 7 that will turn off the USB adapter after a certain period of inactivity (to save power overall on the laptop). When this happens its usually easier to logoff and then back into Win 7 than to "reset" the adapter.

Overall Review: This has worked well for me for almost 2 years and I get great speed with very few drop-outs. My router is about 35 feet from my laptops with a couple walls between the router and the laptops. For those experiencing techical issues with Linksys products, they have great user forums and I've received good answers usually within 24 hours from other expert users.

4 out of 5 eggsSolid NIC

Pros: Works with Win7, dual antenna setup gives you some flexibility, USB if you're out of PCI slots or want to swap this between machines easily. Blue LEDs aren't blindingly bright. USB dock gives you even better placement options if you don't want to stick it right in the USB port (especially if you have BT or other 2.4ghz range devices).

Cons: I think the dual antennae are great, but I am worried that they could pop off if I was travelling with it. There are two little arms that hold them down and you can snap them into place... but since I need at least one con, I'll say it should've come with a little pouch or carrying case.

Overall Review: Very respectable throughput in my bedroom on the 3rd floor of the house with the DIR-655 on the bottom floor. PCI cards just can't cut thru the interference without add-on/boosted antennae.

Pros: Really really fast. My last post I gave it 2 eggs for speed but subtracted 3 eggs since it killed my sound every 30 seconds or so running xp pro. Pros: Arrived intact.

Cons: Not compatible with Windows 7 x64. It works, sort of, sometimes. Currently available driver is not reliable.

1 out of 5 eggsShame on Linksys

Pros: Blue, works in Vista and XP

Cons: DOES NOT WORK IN WINDOWS 7

Overall Review: I just can't believe that after almost a YEAR in PUBLIC beta that there would be MAJOR PC manufacturers selling current hardware without drivers for the latest windows operating system. Their Support people are completely unapologetic about this too. Total waste of time. If you have gotten this to work in Windows 7 you are among the lucky FEW. DO NOT buy this expecting it to work in Windows 7. This is my second and LAST linksys product I'm going back to Dlink.

5 out of 5 eggsEggcellent

Pros: This Wireless-N USB adapter is great if you don't want to install a wireless card or in my case can't (my son's very compact computer). It has a base two antenna's, very easy set up. When paired with LINKSYS WRT300N I get 154Mbps at about 70 feet away through several walls at full signal.

Cons: None

Overall Review: Newegg is awesome of course, not the fastest shipping I have had from them, but ahead of schedule none-the-less.

4 out of 5 eggsIt's acceptable

Pros: Looks sleek, performs OK, VERY easy to install

Cons: Loses signal when you move too far away in my house. We're talking 1175 sq. feet so that's unacceptable. I would give it 3 eggs for that, but the pros are pretty significant, and it works in MOST areas of my house... just not the most extreme distances.

Overall Review: This is probably the easiest wireless card to setup. I've done all sorts of b and g setups but they required either extra steps or a lot of troubleshooting compared to this. I paired it with a linksys wireless-n router and when I'm within range provides an excellent signal downstairs.

4 out of 5 eggshahah! It Works on Win7 with 64 bit!!!

Pros: Works flawlessy on Windows 7 after I fixed it. Looks sleek and nice

Cons: Took 5 hours of troubleshooting and forum searching and cisco support to get no where.

After I gave up i found the solution while looking for other n adapters that were jsut as shifty on win 7 64 bit.

UPDATE YOUR BIOS!!!

Recent fixes in N networking have been implemented in how the bios works, the lastest update to my ASUS mobo bios fixed the issue (with the auto installed windows driver).

The update bios probably has to be less than year old to fix the issue, but no harm in updating bios anyway, make sure u do it properly and according to motherboard instructions

Overall Review: Cisco support is stupid. I told them the fix and they said it doesnt support windows 7,

I said: well it doesnt say that explicitly on the site and a lot of people buy this for Win 7 not knowing about the issue, so here's how you fix it when they ask you

He replied: but it doesnt support Win7.

So I closed the live chat window and went to post it on Cisco home forums where hopefully itll help others, and hopefully help some poeple through here too.

Yay now i dont need to spend half of what i paid for it to return it to newegg (restock fee +handling +shipping lol)

1 out of 5 eggsBEWARE Driver Conflicts with Video

Pros: Nothing

Cons: I installed this on Windows 7 64bit Laptop - Blue Screen of death! So I thought I would install it on my XP Machine - Same thing Blue Screen of Death! Had to do System Restore on both machines. Both had conflicts with the Video Card Drivers. Not Happy at all. Beware! Could work on your system but be prepared for major problems if it doesn't. Both Machines Video Cards got very warm before shutdown.

Overall Review: Fix: Boot Safe Mode & do a System restore to a date before you installed the Linsys Drivers if this happens to you.

3 out of 5 eggsGreat, but not compatible with Win 7

Pros: Great reception, does in fact kill dead spots, fast transfer speeds for a wireless USB adapter

Cons: BSOD immediately once the network card is overwhelmed and it is a driver .dll or .sys error code and after the memory dump, the computer restarts. Checked linksys website, the last driver they have for this card is from '06 so it's not Windows 7 compatible like most new cards...

Overall Review: Linksys really isn't what they used to be. I think I'll stick to Netgear who has been crushing the competition with wireless technology lately...I would advise if you use Win 7, do not buy this card...

5 out of 5 eggsIt does work in Windows 7

Pros: This is to add to my previous review. There are no drivers for windows 7. Follow the directions that come with the installation disk and it should work. It will install Vista x64 or x86 drivers depending on what version you have but trust me it works. I'm writing this review on it. Cheers.

Cons: Don't depend on the lack of window 7 driver support. The OS has only been out for 5 days. The product was made a couple years ago.

Overall Review: Keep it rockin' Egg. 8)

5 out of 5 eggsgood range

5 out of 5 eggsYou get what you paid for

Pros: Light (considering I travel alot), easy to set-up (even a caveman can do it), equipped with a craddle (which would allow you to move the unit for better reception). I am quite satisfied with its performance. I set it to "use Windows to configure my wireless network settings" and the rest is magic. My network monitor usually would indicate a speed of 12 Mbps and a signal strength of very low (1 or 0 bar) but it will still connect and allow me to use the Internet.

Cons: Quite expensive.

Overall Review: I bought a EDIMAX wireless adapter Model EW-7128G hoping I would be able to do wireless networking but despite of its positive feedbacks and ratings, it failed to meet my requirements so I decided to try this USB Linksys product.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks with Windows 7 Professional

Pros: It works with Windows 7 64-bit Professional when I downloaded the driver from Linksys' website and then ran it in Windows Vista compatibility mode. It was a little frustrating but took under 20 mins.

Cons: As a lot of people pointed out, Linksys should make the process easier.

Overall Review: Bought it refurbished about a year ago and still works great. I am able to pick up the signal with two bars from about 40 feet away through a wall. Good adapter, good price, somewhat difficult to use on Windows 7.

1 out of 5 eggsLimited Compatibility

Pros: Picks up decent signal, with the two antennae. Drivers are available for Windows XP 32-bit, and Vista 32-bit and 64-bit. I have successfully installed it on Windows 7 64-bit using the Vista drivers.

Cons: There are absolutely no drivers available for Windows XP 64-bit (aka Server 2003 64-bit). Linksys has nothing, off-brand drivers based on the same chipset, nothing, Windows Catalog, nothing. Additionally, Linux support is only through Ndiswrapper, and that is dodgy at best. I've gotten it to work on 32-bit versions of Ubuntu, but never on 64-bit versions.

Overall Review: Latest Linksys drivers seem to date from 2007. Pathetic how they abandon early adopters. I shouldn't have bought this, but I needed a replacement quickly, and this was all that the store had that wasn't obviously junk. I strongly discourage anyone from buying this.

5 out of 5 eggsGREAT PRODUCT

Pros: Really fast. I have changed from a d-link wireless desktop adapter to this one. Huge difference.

I run this under Vista Ultimate 64 bit and I did not have any problem installing and using it. Runs smooth and fast.

Cons: You need to check out the linksys web site forum to see how to install it right for Vista. Other than installation none at all.

Overall Review: I was using a d-link which was about 20 dolars cheaper than this one. I used download torrent files about 20-30 kbps but now I download over 100 kbps. This thing works great. All you need to is read the installation guide from linksys web site before you do anything with it.
Definetly recommend this one. Worth the money.

2 out of 5 eggsDid not work

Pros: When it works, it connects far away from my wireless N draft router and gets a very good connection.

Cons: Drops the signal constantly. Only way to fix this is to disable the wireless connection and re-enable it again. It drops the connection about every 10 to 20 minutes. I am returning mine and am going to get a USB wireless N adapter from a different company because I know others work, just this one doesn't.

Overall Review: Anything that Linksys has made for b/g wireless routing seems to work really well but I also used to own a Linksys Wireless N Draft Router and that router would constantly, about every hour or so, need to be reset. I would have 5 computers connected to it wirelessly at a time and they all would lose connection so I know it wasn't just an adapter either. Hopefully Linksys' N1 routers and adapters have fixed the bug and are working just like Linksys' b/g wireless equipment is known for.

1 out of 5 eggsDrops Connections Faster Than a Bad Habit

Pros: Fast speed when it works.

Cons: Drops connections whenever it feels like it. Whenever I upload any large amount of data (say, like upload a picture file or whatever), the device just STOPS WORKING. The lights will flash repeatedly like it's stuck on a loop or something. I'd have to repeatedly pull it out of the USB port and plug it back in.

I'm not the only one who has seen this problem. Many, many other people on the Linksys forums have complained and Linksys/Cisco has yet to fix the problem nor even respond to them.

The drivers are so bad that Link/ACT and POWER LED lights are flipped. Instead of the Link/ACT light going on and off for activity, it's reverse.

Tried it in XP and Windows 7, both the same way. This is the worst adapter I've ever used. My Belkin 54g PCI adapter is slower, but at least it works the way it's supposed to.

Overall Review: Does not like multiplayer games that utilize many connections, not other software that connect you to many other clients.

Just don't get it. It's not worth the $$ nor the headache you will have trying to fix the problem.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat device

Pros: recieve strong signal thru walls, fast respond and the dual antenna made the look matched the performance.

Cons: the original driver that came with the device is somewhat incompatible with vista and it made weird sounds while playing media online or watch a movie, if you experience that, go to device manager and let windows find and upgrade the latest driver for the device.

Overall Review: software that came with it just make it more complicated to connect to the router. I suggest only install the driver and let windows do the connect.

4 out of 5 eggsfirst glance - not too bad

Pros: i've grown tired of seeing 'n' products with flaky connections and poor range, but my first experience with this is pretty good. it installed without using included cd, just let xp self-install. showed networks i hadn't seen before, and connected to a very low signal and held it during a bit of surfing. better than i expected

Cons: non so far

Overall Review: color me pleasantly surprised so far. i might start using linksys again.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Lighting fast when paired with the Linksys WRT150N. Can play online games without problems.

Nice connection software, too (but see below).

Cons: Install was a pain. At first it didn't see my router, then I had issues with signal strength.

The solution: reboot computer once settings are correct. I don't know why that was an issue, but once I rebooted it worked like magic.

Overall Review: There's a blurb in the software about using WPA2-AES to optimize performance. I did that and found it was just as fast as with no encryption.

I only get 50-65% signal strength, although my 150N is only 35 feet away (down the hall and around a corner - standard drywall in the house). This bothered me for a while, but I got over it once I realized it's not dropping the connection and the speed is still 50% faster than the Belkin pre-n devices the adapter and router replaced.

2 out of 5 eggsNot good for Vista

Pros: Better range than anything I've used so far. Speed is pretty good.

Cons: Sound skips and pops in Vista. Can't use the internet and listen to music at the same time. While some "work arounds" reduce the stutter, it never completely goes away. Generally this occurs when any data is sent over the wireless connection.

Overall Review: If this isn't fixed by next weekend, I'm returning it for a less expensive and more reliable wireless-g card. Seems like all wireless-n hardware causes problems, and this is nothing special.

5 out of 5 eggsBest adapter I have ever used...flawless

Pros: I've had this SAME ADAPTER for 3-4 YEARS now... Works amazing... SUPER FAST! Backwards compatible with ALL wifi formats.

I use it with my draft N router, also linksys.

I never have ANY problems with this. I am using it on Windows XP Professional 32bit and Ubuntu Linux 9.10 Desktop.

The install cd worked fine when I initially installed. Now I just keep the latest driver file on a USB thumbdrive in case I ever need to reinstall it.

I NEVER have connectivity problems. Whenever that happens it's always the fault of the router (for the first time ever the router "froze" and would not respond even after turning it off...had to reset it and unfortunately I didn't backup the configuration on it :(...works fine now) or (mostly!) Comcast's fault (omgosh they suck but they're the only fast internet available in my area).

On average, I get 270mbps connections to my router with this adapter...

Cons: NONE! Accept maybe that it was a small fortune to buy at the time (I bought this like 2 weeks after it was released...so yeah...)

Overall Review: AWESOME ADAPTER! BUY IT!

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended

Pros: Decent speed. Movable antennae and the base and dongle allow optimal placement of the adapter.

Cons: Pretty large; antennae seem flimsy and easily broken; performance leaves some to be desired; it has, on occasion, locked up; range not great.

Overall Review: I've had this adapter for several years and have used it in several different environments with good results. I don't use the Linksys software as it's little more than bloatware; Vista and above have built-in driver support. Drivers haven't been updated by Linksys since the unit was released, I guess that's a pretty good sign.

The adapter has locked up a few times: it loses connectivity and instead of the two bright blue link and activity lights, the link light glows faint blue. Reseating the USB cable works sometimes, other times the computer needs to be rebooted as well. It's done this on three different computers, so I think it's the card. Happens maybe once a month or two.

Range has always seemed weak; right now it's connecting to a WRT300N router 35 feet away and is going through one thin wall but never gets more than three bars. I get from 80-140Mbps.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent adaptor, bad drivers

Pros: This adaptor provides a fast internet connection, and as long as you listen to the other reviews and don't try to install the drivers that it comes with, it installs quickly and easily on my Vista Ultimate 64 bit.

Cons: I wanted to use it to stream video content from the internet, but the constant (1-10 times an hour depending on conditions) 1 second signal loss makes this very frustrating.

Overall Review: My computer makes the "USB device disconnect", "USB Device connect" sounds every time it loses signal, so it may be a problem with the USB interface.

1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? Yes No

3 out of 5 eggsslower than expected.

Pros: Very easy to set up and install, as with most linksys gear. Required driver update was easy to find, had it running on Vista x64 Ultimate in literally 5 minutes.

Cons: Speed is not what I expected for draft N. 100-200kbps tops, using speakeasy.net to test capacity. My laptop connecting to the same router with built in draft N gets the full capacity (700k sustained usage). Could be me, could be a bottleneck with USB 2.0, but I suspect it's the device. Pretty expensive, though I didn't buy from newegg and paid a $20 premium...

1 out of 1 people found this review helpful. Did you? Yes No

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I am in an apartment where I can see at least 6 other networks; my g standard dropped pretty offen and only got 2-3 bars although the router was less then 50ft away. The n has dropped only once or twice in the past 3 months and I get full signal stregnth 24/7. The other PCs in my place are still running g, and they seem to be all playing nicely with each other. I've also seen noticable decrease in my ping for games.

Cons: It does seem to get a bit hot to the touch. I've had to push the card back down into the base station a few times, as I think the heating and cooling is slowly pushing it out. But it hasn't moved out enough to disconnect or effect the connection.

Overall Review: It comes with a nice standing base to plug into as well, which is pretty niffty.

4 out of 5 eggsCheck Mosquito's fix if running Vista

Pros: Adapter is fast, even when using WEP or other encryption.

Cons: It's use with Vista needs tweaking to avoid getting stutters in your sound.

Overall Review: Make sure you check Mosquito's fix if you're running Vista. I'm actually running the Linksys PCI card version of this adapter but my roommate is using this product. We've come up with the same issue but this fix takes care of it. Too bad the Linksys driver couldn't run that command on its own.

3 out of 5 eggs"Does" work with Vista

Pros: It does work.
Very fast when compared to G.

Works awesome with Windows Server 2003.

After some "persuasion" I got it working with Vista.

Cons: when I first got it (right out of the box) it the outside case was separated by the usb port.

Seems to be a bit flimsy for the price.
Vista Drivers slightly questionable.
Hard to say if it's worth the money.

Overall Review: After installing it with the drivers from Linksys for Vista, it would work, however would cause the sound to stutter and lag about once a minute.

I got that to stop (it's been 2 days) by doing the following in the command prompt (running as administrator)

netsh wlan set autoconfig enabled=no interface="Wireless Network Connection"

where Wireless Network Connection is the name of the connection
(Mine was Wireless Network Connection 3)

I got this USB model so I could swap between desktop (Vista) and laptop with burnt-out internal wireless card (Server 2003)

Haven't yet tried it with Linux.

1 out of 5 eggsAvoid this on

Pros: Faster than Wireless-G when it works.

Cons: Doesn't work very often; doesn't work in -N mode with Vista. Technical support is offshore and a joke.

Overall Review: Tried this on two computers, using it with the companion WRT300N router, and it glitches badly on both. Speed is an improvement over Wireless-G, but not much; and the stability is much worse. Other wireless traffic or a microwave oven turned on throws it into instability and it has to be reset. Also, about every 30-60 seconds, it grabs the CPU for a couple seconds, causing harsh noise from audio and a second or two total halt of any game being played. In Windows XP it shows 270 Mbps speed, but benchmarked actual throughput is less, little better than Wireless-G. Windows Vista does not recognize the -N protocol, and works only as a very slow -G. Tech support is offshore. Nice, polite people who don't know anything that doesn't pop up in their prompts - and more important, who don't have recourse to someone who can answer the tough questions. In the past I've experienced excellent performance from Linksys products, but it's like a different company now, a company to be avoided.

Pros: Small, sleek, comes with base which is great for enclosed computer desks, works very well.

Cons: None that I can think of.

Overall Review: This adapter is very reliable and versatile. I've used it with machines running XP, Vista 32 and 64, Mac OSX, Linux Mint, and most recently Windows 7 RC 32 and 64 bit. The range is great, installation was quick and easy. I've recomended it to all my friends who are looking for a wireless adapter.

4 out of 5 eggsThis fixed my problem

Pros: The reason for buying this product was to hook up to a hotspot that is at least a quarter mile away. The wireless in my laptop was an if at best. As long as you held up your left hand with index finger hidden.............you get the picture? Now I just catch the beam and it works. Went from poor to good. 11mg hook from that far off seems completely reasonable to me.

Cons: Could have been free????

Overall Review: It's forward compatibility should future proof this purchase for a while. A feat that seems rather hard to accomplish in tech applications. I did go to linksys and download the latest drivers, should be everyones first step for anything, for Vista. Load and bang!!! Something that is pleasing when it happens. Would recommend this for anyone in the same boat as I WAS.

5 out of 5 eggsHad for years, works great, even w Win 7

Pros: I've had this for at least two years and it's been kicking rear the whole time. I've noticed the BSOD problem a few times and yeah it's a little bit of a pain but really unless you're that fool who still after years of computers being around still doesn't save regularly it's really not that big of a hassle for the great reception that this gives you. Cons: Yeah there is the usual BSOD problem.

Pros: Works great with XP, great signal, and I am as far as I can get from the modem in my house.

1 out of 5 eggsNot worth it

Pros: Easy to set up. Fast when working.

Cons: Software that is included is fairly useless, use Wireless Zero on XP. Documented conflicts with sound cards and drivers with no resolution for those having the problems. I am tossing it out and getting an internal with an external antenna. Money waisted.

Overall Review: I bought this from a brick and mortar store, I regret not coming here first. I noticed on many sites the conflict was plainly noted and had I see it, I would not have bought it in the first place.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great no Issues

Pros: I really enjoy the versatility of this being a USB attachment. With the extension cable I can place it in the location that gives the best signal strength and adjust the antennas as needed. My old wireless G PCIMA card was getting horrible signal where I usually had it.

Cons: You have to be a little careful not to damage the card or your laptop when moving your laptop around when its attached directly, it stick out pretty far and can get snagged on things easily.

Overall Review: I had a few issues setting it up, as usual I found that using the windows default setup not the manufactures is best. After that the only problems I encounter is I have to occasionally re enter the security password for no apparent reason but this is pretty rare now.

5 out of 5 eggsInstalling LINKSYS WUSB300N

Pros: Easy install. No dropped signal from this adapter as of yet. Runs the full 300 speed, according to the monitor program.

Cons: I put it in power save mode and it actually blinked all night running hotter than normal mode. I set it to non power save mode and it seemed to work better that way.

Overall Review: Wish Linksys would design a 400N adapter that would fit into my express card slot in my laptop. My router is the 400N, so I compromised my speed with this adapter. The Linksys 400N adapter is in the PC Card format.
