4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Great range. Acceptable setup. No problems with disconnects.

Cons: Security isn't as good as it could be. Took away 1 star because of security. Only allows short admin passwords. Can't disable login over wireless connection. No MAC filtering.

Overall Review: I use this to connect to a Rosewill RNX-N150HG usb adapter that is over 4 tenths of a mile away (~2200 ft). I use 2 8dbi omni-directional antennas; one on the router and one on the usb adapter. My connection speeds range from 90 - 150 Mbits/Sec. The usb adapter's max speed is 150 Mbits/Sec.

Both units are in second story windows, and there is a direct line of sight view between them. I used it over winter without trimming some branches that were in the way. But when spring came that the leaves started growing, I had to trim the branches.

Both antennas are directly in front of a window. The router is perched right next to the window and the usb adapter is sitting in the window attached to my laptop with a usb extension.

I have used this router for 6 months. Have yet to use it during hot summer months and will have to see if warm temperatures cause any problems. I purchased a small fan to provide cooling for this router during hot weather. I suspect that many problems with router reliability are caused by overheating from poor airflow.

That being said, I've had absolutely no problems with dropped connections. We tend to unplug it during thunder storms, but other than that, it's on 24/7. I use it mostly for an internet connection, so I it's never under heavy loads.

Would recommend this product to a friend.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing is awesome

Pros: I cannot believe you can get so much for thirty bucks. It works fabulously right out of the box, includes a VPN server, multiple SSID support, automatic channel selection, gives me a great signal everywhere in the house (unlike the WRT54g it replaced), and has a decent little firewall, it's perfect. I got it for my parents, but I'm so impressed I'll be replacing my tomato-WRT54g with one also.

Cons: None!!!

Overall Review: If you're looking for a cheap small home 802.11n (2.4 ghz) router, you can't go wrong with this little guy.

1 out of 5 eggsWorks fine until it doesn't

Pros: good power, distance, easy setup.

Cons: This router is only 1.5 years old and now is requiring a hard reset every day or so, sometimes more often. I have been unable to contact Engenius tech support.

Overall Review: I set up some other Engenius equipment to wirelessly network an acquaintance's compound and in less than a year the Engenius routers failed.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 1. Price! It was $29.99 when I got it
2. Small size
3. Large number of useful features (multiple SSIDs, etc)
4. 2x the range of an average equivalent device!

Cons: 1. Glitchy

Web interface is a bit glitchy, especially when turning on all the features. (maybe not enough internal ram?)

Also, some features allow you to break things and make things unstable.

Overall Review: Perfect for home use for a techie

1 out of 5 eggsWorked Great, then Didn't

Pros: Range is excellent... doesn't play well with others.

Cons: They tried to stupid-proof the software. What they succeeded in doing was making it freaking impossible to use in anything but the absolute easiest environment.

Was trying to change the LAN IP address on the device. After a reboot, it completely stopped responding. It was -present- on the network, but just ignored any traffic whatsoever.

I'm really rather disappointed with this. I paid too much to have it work for what.. 3 months?

Overall Review: Look elsewhere. This ain't worth the money, even as cheap as it is.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Little Router

Pros: Great little and I mean little router. BIG signal with the high power output. Signal increased over the Buffalo WRZ-HP-300NH it replaced using the supplied antennas. I increased the signal further by using the 5 or 8 dB after market antennas.

Cons: Using the time Sync to an NTP server will cause the router to sync time every hour. This is excessive and really only needs to be done once day. (firmware update needed)

Let the router sync with the PC (default) Just be sure to click on "apply" to get it started.

Overall Review: Very small and lays flat. Looks similar to an E series Linksys router.

Signal goes through 4 walls and a mirror with a -49 dbm signal level at the other end, 30 feet away. Channel set to 40 mHzl BW.

5 out of 5 eggssolid router

5 out of 5 eggsFlawless

Pros: Small Footprint, super easy setup and good software. Works as advertised and has a great signal. I have used other EnGenius products and have been very satisfied. No surprises here. Great value for the money.

Cons: None to mention.

Overall Review: Have used linksys for years and will never again. This is a very good alternative at a great price.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat router

Pros: This Router is great. It has all the setting more expensive routers have for less money. Please note you do need to manually setup this router for it to work well but that the case with every one I have ever installed. It is 200mw and the signal is strong compared to some old netgear or linksys baseline wireless router. I have setup many of these wireless routers and never had any problems getting anything to connect to it. along with Ipads androids, TV's, linksys wrt54gl with dd-wrt used as a repeater. The wireless router doesn't hardly ever need to be reset, unless there is like a power surge from a lighting storm, in which it wouldn't have happened if there was a ups on it to begin with.

Cons: No button you can click where it automatically sets itself up on your exact network, know the channel that is not being used and automatically know every device you have and what encryption is supported on an old IBM laptop that was made in 2003 or an Android bought at big lots for 30 bucks, or an HP Windows Vista x64 laptop with outdated Atheros chip drivers installed using N, MIXED MODE,with WPA2 encryption.

3 out of 5 eggsOK Router for the price

Pros: I found the router fairly easy to set-up (W7 OS), but did not connect on the first try. I'll take the hit for that.
It works well and has been stable despite what some of the other reviewers are noting.
Faster than my old Wireless-G router, especially when nearby.
Inexpensive relative to newer Wireless N routers.

Cons: The range is not as good as I had expected after reading the product details. Slower downloads at longer distances. I have a condo in an older building with thicker walls and purchased this product for its "high power" to compensate. I had hoped the signal would reach into some distant rooms but its not much stronger than my old g router. Nonetheless, I do get a signal where I once did not, but nothing exciting.

Overall Review: I'm moderately satisfied with the product so far and use it for run of the mill Ipad/Iphone use. Nothing heavy-duty. I am glad that I did not have to spend a ton of $$ for Wireless N and, so far, have confidence that the signal will be there when I need it. I can not attest to the long term viability of the product. I'll likely upgrade in a few years to a more state of the art router when I refurb. my computer again to take advantage of new technology.

1 out of 5 eggsHorrible Customer Service

Pros: Holds down paper well.

Cons: I am pretty sure that inability to connect is a con.

Overall Review: Tried to install router and it would not recognize the cable modem. Tried to call customer service twice and was on hold for 45 min each time with out an answer. I will be propmtly returing with a formal request to be refunded 1.5 hours of my life. Avoid at all costs!

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None

Cons: manufacture support.

Overall Review: Pure junk. Have to reboot constantly to get it to pass airprint. Manufacture says its the printer however my old router passes airprint fine. If you have ipad or iphone and print to a wireless printer dont use thi product. I am returning this router.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi,

I am sorry for the bad experienc on ESR300H. With regard to the AirPrint issue, could you email us your printer model so we can diagnose the issue. You can send us the email at wlan@engeniustech.com. 5 out of 5 eggsGet it.

Pros: Easy to use, clean GUI. Let's you tweak your own WiFi and Ethernet to the smallest detail. I get 243mbps sitting about 17 feet away on the same floor behind two walls (not brick). Signal is strong and not choppy. I use Netgear N adapter.

Cons: It is very light, I mean it is not really a bad thing, but I like metal housings of old school routers.

Overall Review: I was skeptical about this router at first. I did not know this brand. But it seems like I start to actually really like this little router. The price was pretty cheap, range is excellent and so far I had zero issues. Not giving it "Spectacular" rating only because of the manual, which was in some parts not very clear.

5 out of 5 eggsgreat

Pros: nice design
nice UI
easy to install and setup

Cons: so lightweight, the Ethernet cables where moving the router, i had to untwist the cable 2 time(not really a con but..)

Overall Review: i thought i ordered a linksys but i am very happy with this router

4 out of 5 eggsPleasantly surprised !!!

Pros: simple device built like most other routers
easy to assemble and install
excellent signal

Cons: the manual is very limited but if you've installed a router before its not that difficult

Overall Review: I went from less than 50Mbps to 250 Mbps by installing this router......I only read the reviews of this router after I placed my order and was concerned about its performance......this thing far exceeds my performance expectations and if it has a long and dependable life...that would be icing on the cake.
The only reason i gave it 4 stars and not 5 was the limited manual.

4 out of 5 eggsWell satisfied

Pros: Easy setup and seems fast and able to penetrate outside well. I did cut one egg as I feel it is too early to know it's endurance over a longer period, which only time can tell.

Cons: I really don't care for the present hoops we have to go through to access manuals these days nor have to bother with multiple languages in the printed material. I understand the reasons, I just don't like it. I guess that is pretty much normal for an old geezer of 72. Therefore, please understand my assessment is of only 5 weeks and this is my first wireless router.

Overall Review: Even so I used this to replace my original wired only router for as anyone can we are in a wireless world and with two new wireless devices it was simply easier to have wireless capability then to connect into a PC or some other adapter. I liked that this would fit well with my wired home network and add wireless capability. I live in a two story home with basement built into a hill. The front door is level with the ground on the street side with a neighbor's house about 200 ft. across the street. Even though I reset the P.W. I didn't wish to include that location in my router's range and to that end I had to locate the EnGenius ESR300H in the basement and to the far rear wall. I checked signal connectivity with my wife's Kindle Fire and had to go into their yard and nearly to their house before it couldn't connect. Did I mention this house is brick cased? I am well pleased as it fit my situation perfectly.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't hold a connection

Pros: Good price point if it works for you.

Cons: This router looked promising based on the specs. It worked great for the first 3 hours. Excellent range and speed. However, it then abruptly disconnected and has to be constantly reset. Very frustrating. Returning this router.
