Wii U

In 2006, Nintendo changed how players think about gaming by introducing the Wii. The console was the first to feature motion controls, allowing gamers' gestures to control the on-screen action instead of traditional button commands.

In November Nintendo will unveil the Wii's successor - Wii U. One of the most notable updates the gaming giant has included is a larger controller. The previous generation of the console featured a motion-sensing controller with a detachable analog stick.

The Nintendo Wii U uses a large GamePad. The controller has all the standard buttons and navigational tools, but also features a touchscreen display and a camera. For gamers who don't want to learn how to use a new controller, the Wii U Pro Controller is a more traditional peripheral, as it has no screen.

If you want to use the GamePad, you'll have to keep it charged. Batteries die quickly and it can be annoying to tether your controller to the console. Despite this, the GamePad Stand/Cradle keeps your controller alive, so you don't have to worry about it dying in the middle of a game.

While the Wii U offers a host of features, including popular streaming services like Netflix and Hulu, the games are the main attractions. As has been the case with previous Nintendo console releases, there is a new "Super Mario Bros." title debuting alongside the Wii U. There's also "Nintendo Land Wii U," a game that demonstrates all of the Wii U's new features through mini games, much like "Wii Sports" for the Wii.

Gamers aren't limited to Nintendo-produced titles either, as two massive franchises are coming to the Wii U. "Call of Duty: Black Ops II" and "Rayman Legends" are both the latest installments of popular series with two entirely different styles of game play.
