1 out of 5 eggsdisappointment

Pros: Adds more USB ports. Has on and off button

Cons: Lasted 6 months. None of the ports work at all now. Never recognized some devices that were plugged into it from day one.

Other Thoughts: Not worth the money paid. Won't be buying again.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat while it lasted

Pros: 10 USB 3.0 ports.

Cons: About 10 months old, and half the ports have quit working

Other Thoughts: This was great for about 5 or 6 months, then the problems began. I have a Seagate 1tb drive attached to it, and at about the 5-month point the drive started randomly disconnecting and then reconnecting. Didn't happen often, and I thought it was just a fluke. It has become more frequent, and this week I plugged in an SD card reader, and it wasn't recognized. I figured it was dead, so I picked up a new one, and the new one wasn't recognized either. I tried several ports, only the find out the 5 closest to the on/off switch are apparently dead. Nothing I plug into those 5 is recognized. The other 5 seem to be working fine. Looks like this is headed to the trash bin. :-(

1 out of 5 eggsInconsistent performance

Pros: Ten ports-sometimes

Cons: Inconsistent performance is a key problem with this device. Sometimes all the ports are not available while the computer is running; one can't hook up new devices and always have them show up on the desktop . It does not perform with true plug and play capabilities. Devices cannot be loaded on to the device while the computer is running. When doing restarts, the devices hooked onto the hub will not always be recognized by the computer. Unplugging and replugging devices has resulted in the blue screen of death three times.

Other Thoughts: I don't believe the manufacturer cares about updating the drivers for this and therefor as Windows 7 migrates towards a different system with all of the updates (four to six times a year) HooToo is left behind.

1 out of 5 eggsUnsatisfied

Pros: Fast, when it works.

Cons: Things I plug in constantly just disconnect for no reason.

Other Thoughts: If you plug in a flash drive and open the window to look at your drives it looks similar to a wackamole game. the drive will pop up for a few seconds then disappear again. I have tried 3 different connection cables from the hub to the computer and none have fixed the constant disconnection problem. I would not recommend this product.

3 out of 5 eggsBEWARE: HT UH009 is unstable with 2012 Macs

Pros: Build quality is fine. Layout is fine.

Cons: This unit, as well as the HT UHOO4 have mounting problems with the 2012 MacBook Retina. This is my experience and it is also reported on the HooToo website. They also state that the 2012 MacMini has issues as well.

There are issues with USB devices not mounting when the computer is started. Otherwise it functions fine.

Other Thoughts: Unclear if this is a Mac issue or a HooToo issue.

Pros: Beefy, solid construction.
Sits on desk nicely, doesn't get 'pulled over'.
Smart port design (upward facing) and power in and USB in on the top helps keep it stable.
Per-port LEDs light up when a port is in use
Master on/off
Aux power supply so all ports deliver enough power
10 ports -- go home, you're done. You don't need anymore

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: FINALLY someone made a excellent USB hub .. and it's 3.0!
Power brick is almost as big as the unit itself but I can't list that as a con -- you want to those ports to deliver full power and there are 10!

5 out of 5 eggsThe Right Tool for the Job

Pros: I get nine additional USB ports! (Ten new ones minus the one that the hub uses up); It actually runs at USB 3.0 speeds instead of slowing down over the course of a transfer. Multiple USB device people, this is for you! The power supply is included in this package- no need to search for extra equipment online. It's not as big as it looks online, either. It's compact and looks professional.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I am a real computer geek. I am a photographer and videographer as a hobby on top of recently graduating with a degree in computer game programming. If you can imagine, I have a lot of USB devices to worry about.
I love my computer (I bought it on Newegg), but it only has two USB 3.0 ports built-in and they're in the back. I have one 1TB and one 3TB external hard drive (both USB 3.0) and as they are both filling up with photos, videos, software, and documents, it made me start to wonder if I would need to use one of my computer's USB 2.0 ports for my next external hard drive and lose speed (which is especially important for a hard drive).
I looked online to check out the price of USB 3.0 Hubs and came across this. It was love at first sight. When it arrived at my doorstep and I plugged it in, it was totally worth the money I spent. Right now I have three external hard drives, a Firewire->USB video interface, and a webcam plugged in. All run at full speed together and I don't have to unplug any of them to get the full power of my USB 3.0 flash drive. It's very convenient and I love it. It was very easy to set up as well- it's plug n play and works with both my Windows 8.1 machine and my Windows 7 laptop. It's backwards compatible to USB 2.0 and USB 1.1.
The other nice thing about it is the external power. Of course one USB port can't supply sufficient power to nine others on top of itself, and HooToo (the guys that make this) knows that, too. That is why they included a power cord that comes in the package with the HUB to provide power to each USB port just like the ones built-in to the computer. This not only eliminates power starvation of your USB ports and USB devices, but it also relieves stress on your computer's main power supply unit. If you don't want your USB power devices left on all night while you're asleep, there is a master power switch to turn all the devices plugged in either on or off at the same time- no need to unplug or turn off devices individually to extend lifespans.
There are little blue indicator lights next to each port that show you whether your device is currently plugged in and turned on or not.
Last thing is this: The USB cord between the HUB and the computer is long enough that you can plug the HUB into the back of your computer and have all ten USB ports reach the front of your computer without a USB extender.
All in all, whether you are running out of USB ports or not, you should buy this. This is a quality product- It's great, fast, and it will be a long time before you buy another USB hub.

2 out of 5 eggsDied after 2 months

Pros: Lots of ports, has power cable, worked (except with one device) for awhile (2 months).

Cons: The plugs are a little tight, but this is better than too loose. This hub never worked well with my external DVD writer - often the drive would not be recognized by Windows, and frequently it would slow my boot times by around 2 minutes, but usually I could move the drive to a different plug on this hub and it would eventually work.
But after 2 months, the hub is no longer recognized by windows at all; it is now a large paperweight.

Other Thoughts: I'm not sure if this is poor design, or if I just have a bad device. It is more frustrating for me when the breakdown is delayed versus out of the box. (Of course, no breakdown at all is much preferred.)

4 out of 5 eggsHubs things

Pros: 10 ports. USB3. Just read the description, I can't really do more than rattle off the features.
Total bargain if you catch it on sale.

Cons: USB cable it comes with is annoyingly short, and it's one of those weird new USB3 alternate connector ones that nobody has any extras of. If you want the switch on your desk and the computer under, you should simultaneously purchase a longer cable.
No high power ports.
Doesn't charge without computer connection.

Other Thoughts: I honestly cannot comprehend why nobody makes a USB hub that charges devices. There are literally zero of them available on newegg. There are sometimes ones available on other sites, but they're OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive ($300 for a 10 ipad charger? seriously? there aren't even any electronics in it, it's a 5 volt busbar wired to some USB ports). It boggles the mind that every smartphone and ipad and whatever else these days comes with a single-port wall-to-USB charger, technology that compared to the intricacies of involving a computer is basically bronze age, and NOBODY has thought to mash 8 of them together into a high-power USB plugbar and sell it for the $25 piece of inert plastic and metal it is.

I bought this exclusively hoping to use it as a charger, and it looks like it's going to be bad at it. Oh well, I guess I needed a USB3 hub anyway. This is a great example of the ineptitude of capitalism. Everyone in the world who has more than 2 mobile devices wants one of these, and for some reason nobody sells them. But I digress. Knocked it one egg for the short cable and the lack of charging whilst disconnected from a computer.
