2 out of 5 eggsAround ear, no sound insulation.

Pros: Sounds good, fits well.

Cons: I have owned a number of headsets, cannot remember any being so poorly insulated. Very disappointed in that the around ear cushion does not limit ANY sound what so ever from entering OR going out of the headset! I would normally expect at least SOME affect on the sounds, but this is not the case. A person, sitting 30 feet away could hear what I was listening to and I could hear them speaking as well. NOT what I would have expected. I did not expect super sound elimination as these are not that type of headphones. Still, most of these types would at least contain/ limit SOME of the sound entering or escaping. This probably has a lot to do with the soft foam of the earpiece, it does not limit anything. Why buy a fully enclosed /headset/earpiece then?

Other Thoughts: Would not recommend. Imagine sitting in a room with other people, all of them speaking and all of them hearing what comes through your headphones as well.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Sound great. Better than advertised, IMHO. Very good at keeping external noises at bay.

Cons: No software disc as was indicated in the package. Not a big issue though as it was readily available online at the Plantronix site.

Other Thoughts: I'm able to hear things I never could before in my media, etc...

4 out of 5 eggsGreat but a few issues

Pros: Sounds amazing. Best sound I've had from any set. The headset is huge, and should fit almost anyone's head. The padding on both the ears and the headband is thick and remarkably soft. It's more comfortable to wear than most headsets, despite the size. The mic is clear and sounds great. No muffling and little to no background noise.

Cons: My 1st con is that the mic is not like the one in the product images. in the picture is shows the mic having a curve at the end. My set has 1 straight as an arrow so it is a good 2 to 2.5 inches from my mouth. it works but wasn't what I was expecting. My biggest complaint is that I did not receive a driver disk, which is required for the headset to operate. Thankfully Pantonics has the drivers on their site and it functioned well.

3 out of 5 eggsDecent quality but poor build

Pros: Comfortable, on-headset volume control and Dolby toggle button. Decent audio and mic quality.

Cons: The build construction is rather poor (plastic is weak). I have bought two sets of these in the past. The first set lasted 3 months before the plastic over-head clip broke just above the left ear. Figuring I was being rough, but liking the price I bought another. I was more careful but just over a year after purchase it happened on the new set as well. I had recommended these as decent headsets at work (Plantronics is on our approved vendor list) and we've had 2 sets do the same there.

Also, the wire twists worse than most. Every Monday morning I would unplug and try to get the twists out. It was a losing battle.

Other Thoughts: The sound quality isn't superb, and neither is the mic. But both are perfectly adequate for anything I did (movies, games, business). For the price I would buy again if it wasn't for my experience with the poor construction.

1 out of 5 eggsDesigned to break

Pros: Sound is acceptable and the headphones are reasonably comfortable--well until they break.

Cons: The design of the headband s such that it is not if, but when. The when being when the cheap plastic headband snaps. The headband will snap in the exact same place as it has for hundreds, if not thousands of users. Once the plastic snaps--sure you can hand the headphones off the top of your head, but they will never be comfortable again.

Plantronics has always been my go to for headphones. My last two purchases have a slightly higher build quality than Rosewill. My assumption is the management direction has changed at Plantronics from a producer of quality to one that focus on quantity.

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Sound acceptable

Cons: Short cord, software lacking any adjustments other than enabling and disabling Dolby

Other Thoughts: The cord length is short for my needs and should have paid more attention to cord length specs.

1 out of 5 eggsGreat sound CRITICAL FLAWS

Pros: sound quality

Cons: Day one, I stream to twitch and hitbox so when i got these i was happy with the sound and recording quality. I noticed that the volume control placed behind the ear would rattle with the slightest head movement. two other streamer friends confirmed the same issue. plantronics warranty department stated that i could RMA them, however the duration of this would put my streaming on halt as this is the only headset i own. This can mean a drastic decrease in viewers and cripple a stream. I ended up just dealing with it.
13 months later my headset has snapped on both sides directly above the pivot points for the ear cups. on closer examination this section is very thin plastic, measuring 2.42mm thick. that kind of build quality is specifically designed for failure. Myself and 2 other friends all have had these headsets snap in the same location while babying them. i take great care of my electronics and expect them to last more than 13 months. since it was outside of 1 year they will not replace their design flaw, but offered me to turn mine in and i could buy a replacement at $40.80. The cost of shipping with usps with tracking (cheapest you'll find) would be around $15 adding that to the $40.80 will place you at/around $65.80, $3 more than buying it new. In addition i'd have to wait for them to verify the headsets are infact the 780s and then ship me another set. So adding insult to injury, you get to pay more and wait much longer, fantastic deal right?
I have spent many years building products, testing them, and making sure that it wasn't something you'd need to replace. In the industry if you make products one of the tactics to keep people buying is to develop a product that is designed to flaw. this thin stress point (again 2.42mm thick at a point of high stress, using plastic) is a key to such designs. It's a very shady practice and one i'm shocked to see from a company like plantronics design team. I run a very successful streaming umbrella. I personally stream to both twitch and hitbox, run a stream retweeting service, very active on forums for live streaming, and help run gaming/streaming forums. I think plantronics should think more about how far a single person can reach to their market of people before trying to swindle them out of more money.
Best part is, i did a review on their site, confirmed my review, waited 1hr and it hasn't been published. If you look on other sale sites, there are a lot of 1 star ratings on this headset, yet there isn't a single one on their site. Cause for concern when a company doesn't permit posting 1 star reviews.

Other Thoughts: -- update: Tuesday, January 06, 2015 --
they denied my review on their site and an official email was dispatched saying i needed to read their review guidelines.

5 out of 5 eggsComfortable

Pros: If you have big ears, these are great. Other headphones hurt my ears after a while because they're pressing down on them, but these go around your ears so they're much more comfortable. Also the padding on the ear pads and the part that goes over your head is comfortable. Sound quality seems good to me, but I'm not an audio connoisseur, so take it with a grain of salt.

Cons: None yet. I see all the other reviews saying they break easily, but mine haven't yet.
