5 out of 5 eggsHave two in separate systems, both work

Pros: Got both working after downloading firmware from ORICO website (found by google searching).
Works, what more can you ask for?

Cons: Not worth taking a star off, but the included driver CD did not work.
Does tend to sit a little wonky in PCI slots until you tinker with it/press it all the way in for sure.

Other Thoughts: I haven't tested speeds to see if they are 'true usb 3.0' However, I did actually find a purpose for the internal ports, where I am using a logitech usb dongle, I have 6 usb 2.0 ports and now 11 external and 2 internal usb 3.0 ports, and I use every one of them (one is for the usb output on a gaming keyboard, so it's not really in use, because I use another for the mouse, but it's still plugged in.)

1 out of 5 eggsDoesn't Work

Pros: Plenty of ports.

Cons: Drivers are corrupted on the included CD and do not exist for the VIA 812 chipset on mfr. website. The few drivers that recognize the chipset and load show USB 3.0 in device manager but downgrade the speed to USB 2.0 standards.

Other Thoughts: The VIA website shows only the 812 chipset as emerging tech but has no support for it. I was amazed that the CD software from the mfr. was corrupted.

5 out of 5 eggsLinux (Yes) - Windows (??)

Pros: Works right out of the box with CentOS 6.5 Linux OS
No drivers needed
Five (5) USB 3.0 Ports, although I don't need the 3.0 speed
Compact design & nice black finish

Cons: There might be issues with the drivers if you are using Windows, read the reviews, and you make the call.
Hopefully this does not die like another USB controller that I got from newegg
Needs an internal power supply

3 out of 5 eggsdrivers

Pros: works like it should

Cons: the drivers are a waste of time on the CD, froze the computer about 4 or 5 times trying to load them, d/l latest drivers from the Orico site and installed them first shot.
Been running like a top since

3 out of 5 eggsOnce Installed.

Pros: Ez to install into MB, for me anyhow.

Cons: Once the Ez install into the MB is complete, that's when the trouble starts. The driver cd is junk.. Use the link from another commenter to update driver. Oh, and my scan tool said the driver downloaded from the Orico Manufactures webpage contained malicious material. lol so ya.

1 out of 5 eggsWaste of money

Pros: Lots of ports.

Cons: Does not work at all.

I tried my X1 PCI. As soon as windows boots, it freezes the computer.

Tried my other X16 PCI slot, wouldn't even recognize that it was there.

Doesn't fit well, and the face is all scratched up from trying to get it to fit. Drivers won't even try to install.

Other Thoughts: Wish I read more reviews on this, and saved myself the money. So I have to see if I can get a refund or not.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Worked at USB 2.0 speeds under Linux using USB2.0 devices connected to a USB 3 hub.

Cons: Windows drivers won't load at all, neither from Windows update or the drivers provided.

Other Thoughts: I was using this controller to run some tests under Linux. I was hoping that running USB 2 devices off of a USB 3 hub and controller would increase performance After completing the tests over the course of about a month, I put my Windows hard drive back in the computer, and the Windows drivers won't load. Of course, I'm now outside of the return/exchange period so I'm stuck with something that didn't do what I was hoping for under Linux, and doesn't work at all under Windows.
