5 out of 5 eggsAmazing Monitor!

Pros: Great PPI. Amazing size and resolution.

Cons: NA

Other Thoughts: For 5 years I've had the same Toshiba Satellite laptop with a 17" screen at 1366 x 768 resolution. Going from those dimensions to this monitor is still unreal to me. Games look amazing and just browsing the web is extremely enjoyable. Maybe having this laptop is inflating my enjoyment of this monitor, but if there is anybody that has had the same screen for years and switches to this one, they will not be disappointed.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Monitor, Does its job

Pros: Acer have managed to build a simple, solid, and thin screen for a great price. It arrived extremely fast (1 day), and it was up and running straight out of the box in less than 2 minutes. It has very nice crisp colors and decent color customizing options, and although some people don't like where the buttons are positioned (bottom screen), I believe it is perfect since its pretty much hidden from view. The screen is very thin and smart on table space and was actually much better than I thought it would be. I've had this monitor for a couple months and it performs excellent and without issues from everything from simple home tasks to entertainment and gaming.

Cons: When the screen is on standby, the blue blinking power light might be annoying to some people (doesn't really bother me).

It does take a bit longer to turn on than some people might like; however for me it isn't really an issue since I never turn it off.

It has a small power brick; however this may be undesirable for cable management.

Sunlight and lighting might cause some glare issues, just be wise where you place this thing.

Other Thoughts: All in all, for such a great price the screen performs fabulously well. I'm a guy that doesn't need all the extra jumbo that is placed on screens these days (speakers, extreme tilting and color options, touch, etc), and for this price it does one job and it does it perfect. If you are looking for an excellent screen, this is it.

5 out of 5 eggsBright and Nice

Pros: Works great with my Windows 7 system. Setup was very simple. Plug and turn it on.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Ultra thin. Saved me a lot of desk space! Would be nice if it have a HDMI input but I knew this before I order it.

4 out of 5 eggsGood picture, can't dim it enough

Pros: Sharp picture, no dead or stuck pixels. 3-wire grounded power supply -- better for safety and surge protection.

Cons: Blue LED blinks so brightly in standby mode that airplanes can use it as a beacon in fog.

Somewhat confusing controls, not explained well by the user manual.

Brightness and contrast controls don't allow dimming the picture enough.

Other Thoughts: The sample I bought in 2012 has been problem-free and operates identically to this one, including in regards to not allowing the picture to be dimmed enough. I'm 3 feet from a large south window and have the brightness and contrast controls all the way down to zero, but the picture is still bright enough.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent

Pros: Great screen for displaying internet content, email, movies, etc. Probably not optimal for serious gamers, as it's 5ms, but for basic use its perfect. Zero dead pixels thus far, and the stand is sturdy and easy to attach.

Cons: No HDMI.

Other Thoughts: Does not have built in speakers.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value; dubious controls

Pros: Great image quality for the price.
Very thin and lightweight.
Matte finish is very effective at reducing reflections from light sources behind you.

Cons: The controls are hidden underneath and are difficult to find. They are labelled black-on-black, so the labeling is essentially worthless: you have to memorize where the controls are and what they do.
The monitor stand has no adjustments, so you may have to put it on a stack of books the way I did.
The monitor is so light that pressing the (hidden) on/off control can cause the entire monitor to wobble precariously (particularly if it's on a stack of books). It helps if you steady the monitor with one hand while turning it off with the other.
The matte finish is quite "matte" and probably reduces the sharpness relative to a more shiny monitor. But not unacceptably.

Don't get me wrong: I still think this is a good value. I had one at work and based on my impressions of the image quality for the money, I went ahead and bought one for home, even knowing its foibles up-front.

5 out of 5 eggsacer monitorS220HQLAbd

Pros: This is an excellent monitor and it's not little. I read all of the reviews and all of the complaints and I have no complaints. Buy it, and if they're on sale, buy two.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The old 23" View Sonics died. Need to do capacitors. At 21.5" this monitor works well in my environment. Very reasonable on sale. The On Trac shipping was super flash., perfect condition. New Egg, I could never say enough about New Egg. Been doing business with them for 16 years.

2 out of 5 eggsAcer 21.5"

Pros: Cheap, lightweight, and not horrible color.

Cons: One of the worst things about this monitor is that it is so thin. Thin enough to the point of when i dropped it from a height of less then 3 feet onto the floor, it broke. I'm not 100% sure but I believe with a thicker screen that break would have been avoided.

Other Thoughts: It is a TN panel so color is so-so as is viewing angle. You get what you pay for and I only wish that this one would have been more resilient to the slight drop it took.

3 out of 5 eggsNice thin, light monitor. But some issues.

Pros: Very thin, less than half an inch. Incredibly light, no more than maybe two pounds. Rather cheap while on sale for what you get.

Cons: Monitor takes at least 8-10 seconds to actually turn on; It likes to let you know that Acer made it, and that it is "Energy-saving." Wonky options menu, very difficult to navigate and took about 5-10 minutes to initially figure it out.

This monitor doesn't quite show darker colors, or black very well. It displays black as more of a dark-ish grey.

Other Thoughts: When my monitor arrived, I quickly noticed a pixel that was stuck on green. It wasn't dead, just always showed as green. I sent this monitor back to them, not once, but twice in an attempt to fix the pixel.

This monitor's own bright pixels, are a weakness to me. Not to mention Acer's wacky customer service.

5 out of 5 eggsA Worthy Addition

Pros: Cheap as hell. Absolutely great price for what they do.

Calibrated correctly, the colors are excellent.

Brightness is extremely strong for high-light environments.

They're light and incredibly thin.

The build quality is pretty strong, especially in the tilting joint.

The picture is overall excellent with adjustment.

They were shipped outstandingly fast. I got them 2 days after they were shipped, even though the shipping on packages this size is normally slightly longer. That's legendary Newegg for you, though.

Cons: As many others have said, the factory settings are absolutely disgustingly wrong. It will take a good bit of calibration on both the monitor settings and your GFX driver settings to get them right.

Max color true-ness is something around 85-90%, which is a bit low for an LED backlit screen.

Brightness can be adjusted but backlight can't? Probably the most grating frustration, especially considering that it's LED backlit.

Brightness is way too strong.

Footprint is a little steep.

Bezels are very wide. Not good for multi-setup monitors like mine if you can afford better.

Slightly confusing menu.

No HDMI.

I have one dead pixel, but it's almost invisible.

Other Thoughts: I complain a lot, but most of these- aside from the bad factory settings and brightness- are nitpicking. At the price point, these are probably the best you can get at true 1080p.

I would only dock an egg if they were at a higher pricepoint. Anymore than +15% of their current price and the drawbacks would definitely knock off an egg.

Still, though, an overall excellent product. A dual monitor setup, even with the wide bezels, is definitely serviceable with these, and even one alone would be a very great choice. I fully recommend.
