Confused, does this machine come with 2 trays in the machine as a stock item ? Also, do you take out the tray and replace with the 500 sheet tray ?

It comes with one "autofeed" tray (tray #2) and then the manual tray (tray #1) that you flip open to manually feed it special paper.  If you want a tray to hold large quantities of regular 8.5x11 paper (tray#2) and then another tray (tray #3) to hold larger quantity of special or legal sized paper you'll need to order this optional, addition tray.  You do not remove and replace the existing tray.  This unit would sit on top of the optional tray.  Hope that answers your question.

We run it at the office.  Estimate of 40-50 pages per hour.  I don't know what the ADF is.  Its been a good machine.

Which HP Monochrome Laser copiers can enlarge or diminish copy size, and print 2-sided copies?

The "d" at the end of the model number indicates that the copier is capable of printing duplex (aka double sided). Usually this means it will do that automatically, but on rare occasions you have to flip the page yourself so it is always a good idea to check the spec sheet for the specific model you are looking at. The MFP425dn auto duplexes.

I cannot speak with 100% confidence on the sizing features, but most of the MFP (Multi Function Printers) that I have seen also have this feature. Hope that helps.

Do you sell the additional tray for legal size paper for this machine as well?  If so, what is the price?

The bottom tray can be extended out to handle legal-size paper. They do carry the accessory 500-sheet tray, named this on the web site:  HP CF406A LaserJet 500-sheet Feeder/Tray. It does not say whether it will handle legal or not, either here or on HP's web site. But digging into the printer's data sheet on HP's site does indicate that this tray will also handle legal, along with tray 2 (the 250-sheet tray).
