Where are the cartridges installed?

Lift up both the auto feed tray and the flatbed (glass) tray. Then, put your finger in the indentation (you'll see it on the left side) of the paper output tray and gently lift that tray.

Does it have a scanning screen or is it feed only?

Yes, it has a scanner bed. If you go to HP web sight you can download a user manual, which will answer any questions you have

Is it compatible with windows?

Yes. It comes with install cds for both Mac and PC. I have Windows 7 and it works like a charm.

Does it print duplex automatically? In other words, can it print on both sides of the paper or do you have to do that manually?

No it doesn't print duplex. Have to feed both sides manually.

IS THIS COMPATABLE W A DELL INSPIRON 1545 COMPUTER? IS IT EASY TO HOOK UP?

Yes on both just make sure the software is compatible and it be fine its easy to have it wireless
