5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: I bought it for my daughter so i can't do a full review but rather what she sees in it. She says that it works perfectly for her and that it does what she needs it to do.

Cons: There is none that I can see.

3 out of 5 eggsAcceptable

Pros: Works well enough for my needs.

Cons: Weak signal; although not a problem for me - see below.

Other Thoughts: Home is under 1000 sqft. with few electronics/appliances and leave the microwave unplugged unless in so it's not an interference issue.

Only get "good" (3-4 bars) ANYWHERE in the house, including being less than one ft from router.

2nd time my order has been change from "free shipping" to "3 day" AFTER CLICK SUBMIT ORDER BUTTON. I'm sure this has happened to others as well.

5 out of 5 eggsOne of the best routers I've owned

Pros: Where to start.. This is a very rock-solid router. I've owned it now for probably 4 years and during that time it has worked very well. Just connect it and it does its thing--no fuss. Wireless range is also pretty good. Not the best, but well worth it. Router is also very small making it good for those that don't have a lot of room. Cooling isn't an issue for this thing at all.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: The router just works, and works, and works. So if you're looking for a no-fuss router with decent range, you've found your router!

I highly recommend it for the price you pay.

1 out of 5 eggsNetgear - not impressed

Pros: Easy setup for simple uses

Cons: Router was good initally, easy to setup, wireless worked well but the LAN ports failed after the first few hours, they would not issue a DHCP address though the link lights showed activity. Ended up returning after about 2 days of use. I have own 3 different DLink products and have had no issues, this is the first and last Netgear I'm going to get for a while.

3 out of 5 eggsAvoid for High Speed

Pros: Easy setup. Looks slick.

Cons: DO NOT purchase this router if you have Comcast or high speed Internet. This will get the job done if you are paying for about 10mbps. If you get 50mbps, from Comcast for example, avoid.

Max speed is 13mbps.

Other Thoughts: I updated firmware, changed channels and I am 3 feet away from router. I have a DOCSIS 3.0 modem, too.

Thought since I had a small apartment that this would get the job done. Save yourself trouble and money, and just get a dual band router.

Manufacturer Response:

Hi George,

The WNR1000 should be able to easily support 50 mbps. Please get in contact with our support team and they will be glad to help.

We apologize for the issues and hope to get this issue resolved as soon as possible.

Regards,

NETGEAR Team

3 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Cheap. Easy setup.

Cons: N is only 150. No IPV6 support.

Other Thoughts: No IPV6 so it's usefullness will be short lived. There are much better routers out there.

5 out of 5 eggsIt just works

Pros: English speaking tech support! Minimal hold to talk to tech support. Which I only needed to get the wi-fi part set up.
Wired worked perfectly and immediately.
Bought this to replace a brand new Encore brand crapola router and I should have just paid the price to begin with.

Cons: The setup disc crashed repeatedly for the wifi setup but 1 call to tech support had it working perfectly. (windows xp)

5 out of 5 eggsAm I lucky or is this a good router?

Pros: I've always bought Linksys, but based on price, I figured I'd give Netgear a shot after having two different Linksys wireless routers died within a couple years.

As everybody says, this router sets up easy. It took 15 minutes and would have been quicker if I hadn't been writing down notes as I went through the processs.

The router worked immediately (both wired and wireless) without any glitches. It's been a few weeks and so far so good.

The wireless connection seems to have a good signal, we have a fairly large house and haven't had a problem yet with dropped connections.

So as my title says, am I just lucky or is this a good router.

Cons: None. YET!

Other Thoughts: I liked the price!
