3 out of 5 eggsEasy to setup, but lacks any form of stability.

Pros: - Easy to setup with WPS
- Dashboard fairly easy to work with
- Neat little night light and small package size fits anywhere.

Cons: - I just can't keep a connection with the Repeater. It randomly disconnects from the parent router (NT-600) on a daily basis, even with 3/4 bars of reception between the two. I've made sure both the router and repeater have the latest firmware, and it still does this. The reason for purchasing the RP-N53 was to move my gaming system into an isolated room that didn't have access to a CAT5 connection, in hopes to run a dedicated 5Ghz repeater specifically for the PC and be able to game. When it's connected, I get a 90Mbps/15Mbps when it works and that's perfectly fine for everything.. when it works.. not satifsfied whatsoever.

Other Thoughts: I would not recommend this product to anyone, until a resolution is corrected. It seems I'm not the only one with this issue.

3 out of 5 eggsIt is worth the price I say

Pros: It has plenty of bandwidth for my network of four devices. The 5hz connection does show a slight faster connection, but this connection does require rest after a few hours of use, it falls back to the 2.4hz. The blue status light on the bottom, front of the device is very helpful. The UI is simple and pack with necessities.

Cons: I would like the 5hz connection to be a bit stronger and more reliable.

Other Thoughts: I would recommend this to someone who has more than 1 device, seeing as it has 2.4hz and 5hz bandwidth simultaneously, which you benefit from. I have this unit connected to Asus AC56U wireless router and they communicate well together.

5 out of 5 eggsASUS RP-N53 Range Extender

Pros: -Works as intended
-Good range relaying info back to the main router itself

Cons: -Somewhat confusing to setup. I followed the directions to the T and couldn't get it set up. Was about to give up, and then it started working randomly. It works so I can't really complain too much.

5 out of 5 eggsexcellant

Pros: Device works great on both bands, 2.4 and 5 ghz. Used Ethernet cable to computer set up device, make sure you upgrade firmware from if you use gui interface for firmware check, it states it us current even when it is not. Not stated in manual, the device can use Ethernet cable to computer and work as a wireless receiver. Unit is paired with an Asus TEN 66U in a heavily lead based painted house and it works great.

Cons: Manual is incorrect for repeater access after set up. You need to download device detection tool from under utilities for this device. Then you will see your device and access settings. Manual does not state that for best wireless reception, plug into top outlet of double wall socket.

3 out of 5 eggsCat5 Output

Pros: Works.

The Cat5 slot is to connect to the PC via ethernet cable, a feature I like; think of it as an Access Point.

Cons: Takes a while getting used to setting it up.

5 out of 5 eggsworks great, filled my weak spots

Pros: Bought this is augment my ASUS RT-N65R router. My 5Ghz signal was really weak at the far end of the house having to pass through a floor and two walls. I named the SSIDs the same as my RT-N65U and the receiver picks the best signal. Went from barely a bar (20Mbs) to four bars (144Mbs). Farthest smart TV would routinely lose signal, but the RP-53 has remedied that.

Cons: couldn't get the setup to work using the Ethernet port. Had to just use the web route. Menu setup was initially slow to respond, but after firmware update, it sped up.

Other Thoughts: I had to place it in direct line of sight for it to register full signal strength. Could only get 3 of 4 bars on front panel going around a corner (distance was ~35 feet). I happy with the performance.

3 out of 5 eggsMy 5G band quit after 2 days

Pros: Easy setup with WPS. It DOES have Access Point capability according to the device configuration.

Cons: 5G band failed after two days. The blue status LED's are a little too bright (no need for the "night light" feature!)

Other Thoughts: ASUS tech support wants ME to pay for shipping of defective unit to them for warranty coverage! I have not tried the Access Point mode of this device since the 5G failed. I recently bought an ASUS dual band N wireless router and have been very happy with it, so that is why I went with this Repeater. But I don't think I should have to pay for shipping of the defective unit to them for repair or replacement.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks well with Apple devices

Pros: - Worked right out of the box.
- Separates 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks, so you know for sure which one you're connected to. This is perfect for my Retina MBP which has BT/WiFi interference issues when connected to a 2.4 GHz network. Now it always connects to the 5 GHz one with no issues. My other Apple devices works well with it too.
- Supports AirPlay audio streaming for Apple devices. Tested and working.
- Maintains very decent speeds in the basement with the main router located on the 2nd floor.
- Compact, good looking.

Cons: - The manual that came in the box wasn't 100% accurate. I can see how some not-so-tech-savvy people might have problems following the instructions in it.

Other Thoughts: This product has exceeded all my expectations, I'm actually quite surprised that other people have had negative experiences with it.

1 out of 5 eggsBad ASUS - BAD!

Pros: Easy setup. Videos available for setup. When it works, it works well. It worked well for 4 1/2 months. ASUS makes decent products except for this one.

Cons: ASUS support is long and tedious and they didn't know this product well. It worked for only 4 1/2 months before the 5G died. 1/2 hour minimum wait for tech support to get it sent back. Tech support hold line says "Agent will be with you shortly." They lie.

Other Thoughts: Bought the 1 year extended warranty due to a few reviews but I haven't been able to use it yet because it's only been 5 mos.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat Stuff

Pros: Works great, we have an L shaped house and wifi would not penetrate to far corner. This is one of the only range extenders with 5 and 2.4 that work at the same time Have not had any problems at all

Cons: Only con would be how to update firmware. It's kind of pain and no instructions. You have to download then disconnect and connect extender and search for file to update fimware.

Other Thoughts: As long as it keeps working this solved most of our problems.
