can I hook it up via ethernet on mac osx 10.4.11?

The device sthould adhere to all existing network standards. If your Mac works with any other router or cable/dsl modem over ethernet, it'll work with this.

how is the service coverage?

Check the Website, they have a full coverage map available online. Most Major Cities have good coverage and then it starts to get spotty as you get further away.

Does this support 3G as well? FreedomPop doesn't have 4G in my area.

I know that 3g works in my area. FreedomPop coverage map includes my area but only barely. Bottom line is that it does not detect 4g in my area so it is useless.
