5 out of 5 eggsGood Internet for a very low price

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: -Extremely low price for what you get
-Easy to setup
-Keeps constant and strong connection
-Aesthetically pleasing when plugged in

Cons: -Drivers can be annoying (includes proprietary startup software that is not easily turned off)

Other Thoughts: The only big problem with this adapter is the software that runs it. The connection manager included will open on startup and that can be annoying, especially seeing as there is no easy to see way to turn it off. Windows comes with a fine wireless connection manager, you don't need to give us another one TP-Link.

5 out of 5 eggscheap success!!!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: cheap! great performance improvement over tiny keebox adapter. install took 2 minutes and it comes with a usb cable so can move around the receiver.

Cons: do not install the software application, only the driver, and let windows manage wireless networks.

Other Thoughts: this is the second one i bought and am running both in the same room, no issues.

4 out of 5 eggsVery good

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Very nice and ergonomic look to it. Signal range can operate well at extended ranges from WIFI position. It's very durable as well, has taken a beating since purchase and works as good as the day I bought it.

Cons: While easy to set up, it required an internet connection to update/install itself properly onto my PC (Windows 8) for operation.

5 out of 5 eggsUpdating My Previous Review

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: I gave a zero rating in my first review for a unit that I've had repeated challenges having it start whenever the computer restarts. In doing routine maintenance yesterday, I found a second unit that obviously hasn't had any problems. So I give this a five, that when averaged iwth my previous 0 gives it a 2.5.

Note the one that is working great is running under XP and the one not working as well on Win 7 Professional.

Cons: None for this unit. The another one I bought and running under Win 7 is challenged sometimes to restart on reboot.

1 out of 5 eggsVery Disappointed!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: When I first plugged it in it worked fine.

Cons: Now I have to pull it out, and put it back in to get it to work after a restart or sleep. Buying a replacement.....

1 out of 5 eggsDon't bother buying with Windows 8 or 8.1

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Somehow Windows 8 was able to install a driver for this device automatically when plugged in. Though it was problematic also.

Cons: This thing is garbage when it comes to WIndows 8 and 8.1. I have it set up correctly but the drivers that TP-Link lists on their website as Win 8 drivers barely function. Whenever I am doing anything that involves uploading, like skype video calling, the thing disconnects after 5 minutes and then reconnects itself to begin the vicious cycle. I started with windows 8.1 and had constant disconnecting problems when I would game or talk on skype, etc. So I downgraded to Windows 8 thinking it would work better because on their website they have "windows 8" drivers. Nope. Same problem. Every day. If you just want to browse the internet it works fine, but the minute any stress is put on the thing, it cuts off. I am tired of trying to get it to work. I have looked up and tried to fix the driver issues many times but everyone is having the same problem. From what I have heard it works well on Windows 7, but I do not want to downgrade a second time just to account for this incompetent wifi card. Its garbage.

Other Thoughts: Won't be buying TP-LINK again.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

Thank you for your review.

We are sorry that this card didn't work out too well for you.

These devices are compatible with Windows 8 as long as an Update has been done.

You may even download a driver from our site at: http://www.tp-link.us/products/details/?categoryid=&model=TL-WN722N

There are other settings in the Router that we suggest to help with performance.

These are settings like change the channel width to 20 MHz, use WPA2(AES) for the Wireless encryption, change the wireless frequency to a channel with little noise.

If you would like to contact me directly with any issues or concerns, then you may do so at howard.he@tp-link.com.

Best Regards!

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Great price at $15 with an excellent antenna. I get -57dbm (windows shows 5 bars) connecting to a Pantech MHS291LVW hotspot two floors above with a steel I-beam, a staircase and two walls between the two.

I have not had any issues with dropped connections or packets, which is important because it is attached to a Litecoin mining rig which runs 24/7.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: The free USB dock was a nice plus. I ended up using it to move my wireless mouse receiver closer to my mouse.

1 out of 5 eggsProduct quality degraded over just a few months

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Okay when it works. Pretty cheap (although you get what you pay for) and comes with a cradle, which is of marginal usefulness.

Cons: It started crapping out a few months ago and has gotten exponentially worse. Pretty sure these things aren't made to last. Disconnects very frequently nowadays. As as added negative, the TP-link configuration utility included in the current driver pack is the least user-friendly software I've seen. The software crashes and is written in quasi-English.

Manufacturer Response:

Hello Customer,

Thank you for checking out our Adapter and we are sorry that you are not fully satisfied with this device.

I am curious about the issues that you are getting as it is hard to determine if you are experiencing power, connection, or speed issues.

We would love to work with you to help resolve any of these issues.

We can even replace the device as a worst case scenario if we find that this is perhaps a defective device.

You may feel free to contact our 24 hour technical support team or you can contact me directly at howard.he@tp-link.com.

Best Regards!

5 out of 5 eggsBetter than expected.

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WN722N Wireless N150 High Gain USB Adapter, 150Mbps, w/4 dBi High Gain Detachable Antenna, IEEE 802.11b/g/n, WEP, WPA/WPA2

Pros: Quickly connects to router, stable connection, came with free cradle, strong signal at distances.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I live in an old house and the walls are thick but it still gets a strong connection two rooms away. Whether starting up the PC from a full shut down or from sleep, it connects before I can even start up Chrome. It's downloaded almost 3GB worth of files fine over the last week while downloading Windows 7 updates and other programs. Not one drop, not one lag.
Using an ASUS motherboard and have had the adapter plugged in directly to the motherboard, via the included USB extender as well as the TP-Link cradle and each gave the same stable performance. Windows (or Linux) version should be required when reviewing some products, as I have had problems with past TP-Link adapters on Windows XP but on Windows 7 it was flawless.
I also recommend downloading the drivers from their site and then only installing the drivers (through Device Manager and choosing a location on your computer), as I've also fared better on older Windows versions when doing it that way than using their utility.
