5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Device!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Compact, easy to use, versatile, reliable connection, very affordable

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Use the TP-Link to connect my Slingbox SOLO that is on the bottom floor of our 3-story house to our wireless home network. It always works when I need it and speeds are steady enough to watch HD content. I use only the Client Mode but there is a total of five, making this a very handy device that is very reasonably priced.

4 out of 5 eggshot spot

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: bought this to use as an access point. wanted to reduce the wifi radiation going through the house from the wifi router. don't need ubiquitous coverage inside.

easy to set up with an ethernet cable and laptop.

tiny. energy efficient. slim ethernet cable and usb power plug included.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: will take it on vacation and use it as a repeater in a hotel

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for WDTV Plus

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Compact
Easy Setup
Flexible

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I installed the router in Client mode with my WDTV Plus to replace the USB Wifi adapter. It is getting hard to find USB Wifi adapters that are compatible with older WDTV's. This connects to the WDTV via it's wired network port.

2 out of 5 eggsRepeater mode doesn't work

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Client mode works flawlessly, making them great for connecting wired-only devices to a wireless network

Cons: Repeater mode simply does not work. It seems fine after you set it up, but anywhere from an hour to a day later, it dies, and it generally brings down the entire wireless network. Looking on TP-Links's support forums, repeater mode failing to work has been a known issue for nearly two years. Saying it has a functioning repeater mode is simply a lie.

I bought this to fill in a dead signal area in my house, and I ended up having to return it.

Other Thoughts: I still have three being used to connect wired-only devices to a wireless network. After some configuration problems, they do seem to work okay for that purpose.

4 out of 5 eggsConvenient but not very stable

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: small, light, flexible power options via micro usb, good range

Cons: unstable as a bridge, needs somewhat frequent resets

Other Thoughts: fine for short term use in hotel rooms, not so much as an in home extender

5 out of 5 eggsGreat travel router to have in the hotel room

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Lots of different modes (wifi AP, router, client, bridge). Works like a champ in the hotel room to enable multiple devices to get on the wired connection and puts up a hardware firewall between me and the network. Very travel friendly.

Cons: None really.

Other Thoughts: Very compact and uses a USB port for power, no power bricks!

5 out of 5 eggsLinux Desktop Users Grab This!

This review is from: TP-LINK TL-WR702N Wireless N150 Travel Router, Nano Size, Multifunction, 150Mbps

Pros: Simple, easy to configure, and can used as a very inexpensive & efficient network bridge off of USB power! As a linux user, the amount of pain I've gone through dealing with poorly supported wireless NICs is not unusual but completely unacceptable. So I needed something for my repair station where cat5 is not an option but USB NICs are a pain. This can be configured for "Client Mode" to provide direct connection to a 10/100 NIC built into almost everything made since 2000 and NO DRIVERS ARE NEEDED other than the onboard 10/100 NIC which is almost universal at this point. Woohoo! Pulls great signal strength too; 108 or so vs. a USB N150 pulling 20's to 50's in the same spot.

Cons: With only a week in service, I have no idea how the longevity will be but, for the price, I'll be thrilled if it survives a year. Since it doesn't seem to run hot, I don't expect a lot of problems. I did try a firmware update off the website and the latest firmware, which I must note was marked as "Beta" to be fair, did not function properly in "Client Mode", which is what I was looking for. After that, I moved back to the shipping firmware version and it has been quite solid, so I'd recommend sticking with the shipping firmware.

Other Thoughts: If you have devices that benefit from a wireless bridge (smart TV, console games, older computers, BD players, etc.), this is the way to go after only having to log in, change a couple of settings, and reboot a couple of times. Also, the ability to work off the included adapter or simple USB port power is an excellent design decision that makes it very flexible both for permanent installation or travel. Kudos TP-Link! I'm in LUURRVVVE.
