1 out of 5 eggsPOE was DOA

Pros: Inexpensive, Newegg is awesome in RMA.

Cons: Tried to use it and it was DOA. Power light on POE Injector came on, but no power to any device I tried. It's a pretty simple setup - network in, POE+network out... So there's not much troubleshooting so it's pretty much dead in the water.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear CCWTech,
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this PoE Injector and happy to hear Newegg.com has resolved the issue with you.

I think this is just a special case and we provide 2-year warranty for it.

We really appreciate you taking the time to check out our TP-Link products and we hope that you will be able to check out more in the future.

Best Regards!

1 out of 5 eggsGarbage

Pros: NONE

Cons: The second I plug this in, it takes out my WAP (Netgear WG102). Now it's broke. It won't even work if I use the AC adapter.

Other Thoughts: I am an I.T. consultant and have installed many Netgear WG102s in small offices using many different brands of POE switches and POE injectors without problems. I have even tested POE switches using my own WAP so I know mine works. Besides a refund, I hope TP-Link buys me a replacement WAP because now I don't have Wifi. Stay away from their cheap products. I just needed 1 POE port so didn't want to buy a switch. You get what you pay for so I spent $20 now I'm out -$130 or so. Stay away from TP-Link. I'd give zero eggs if it were possible.

NOTE
Used manufactured Cat6 cables and a UPS, so it's not a wiring issue caused by me. These are the same cables and ports I've been using without issue for a while now. I tested the network cable with another machine after my WAP failed and it works fine, so it's not the cable or the switch port.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear DJ Maxx,
We apologize for any inconvenience caused by this PoE Injector.

The TL-POE150S will NOT burn the device. We've run the compatibility test with many PoE AP/IP Phones and IP Cameras and they work great with this PoE Injector.
Could you please power the NETGEAR AP with its own power adapter? Maybe it will work again with the TL-POE150S.

We really appreciate you taking the time to check out our TP-Link products and we hope that you will be able to check out more in the future.

Best Regards!

5 out of 5 eggspower sensor actually works

Pros: It just works. Cheap. Gigabit.

I used one of these to replace the fried injector for a Cisco Aironet 1130AG WAP, and another for a Panasonic KX-UT113 VoIP phone that would not power up on my old [different brand] PoE injector, despite compatible specs.

Cons: No holes for wall-mounting; had to use tape.

Other Thoughts: Haven't tested gigabit performance yet (still waiting for a sale on a gigabit WAP) but at least the switch gives this injector a green light for 1000 speed.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Just works, not getting hot.

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I bought that to power a Polycom VOIP phone. While some reviewers made concerns about maximum power output, I'm happy to report that it just works fine.

5 out of 5 eggsInexpensive and functional

Pros: These things work OK.
Cheaper than an electrician to run 120 VAC to WAP location.
More expensive than POE enabled switch/router for multiple locations.

Cons: Labeling is not intuitive - the POE end is opposite the DC cube power input end.
Not sure about cooling and thermal stress - unit has passive ventilation holes that cannot be covered (I assume) but are nice place for insects to nest over long term.

Other Thoughts: I have installed at least five of these units in various client locations during the past year. No complaints (yet) but they are a stopgap. A commercial-grade 8-port 1000/100/10 switch with 4xPOE is $130; 8 port 1000/100/10 switch w/o POE is $60. Not strictly a-to-o comparison, but you are ahead if you need three or fewer POE points in one network segment (yes, there are cheaper units, but I'm not considering civilian throw-away junk here).

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected

Pros: Had it running nonstop for a couple weeks. Works as you would expect it to. simple. power, RJ45 in, RJ45 out. done

Cons: None, other than it could probably be a little cheaper.

5 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: Does what is stated

Cons: No screw-hole mounting solution on the back for common business cabnet/utility room wood-plate mounting.

Other Thoughts: I would like to have seen 2 holes to accommodate mounting this to a surface with screws/nails.

5 out of 5 eggsit works

Pros: I have bought three of these units for various clients - all work OK. Nothing special, just a POE injector.

Cons: Doesn't work underwater (duh).

Other Thoughts: Have only used these for a month in three places - different clients, different locations. Will see when weather heats up and humidity rises.
Lowest cost of POE units on NE site.
