Honeywell’s Voyager™ 1202g single-line laser scanner incorporates the freedom of Bluetooth® wireless technology and offers a field-replaceable battery that can be quickly and easily exchanged. The new 1202g delivers the aggressive linear bar code scanning that users have come to expect from the world-renowned Voyager family of scanners.
Voyager 1202g incorporates a Bluetooth® Class 2, v2.1 radio, enabling unrestricted movement up to 33 feet (10 meters) from the base. Honeywell has also demonstrated Bluetooth® Class 2 communication ranges of up to 100 feet (30 meters) with a clear line of sight from the base. The 1202g offers users added safety and a wider range of movement by eliminating tethered cables. For added convenience, the included paging system helps locate misplaced scanners with visual and auditory signals.
The field-removable battery can be exchanged quickly and easily, without the use of tools. The user-preferred, long-lasting Lithium ion battery provides 12 hours or more of scanning time and 45,000 scans per charge. The 1202g recharges quickly, resulting in increased throughput.
Built on the platform of the corded Voyager 1200g, the 1202g is optimized for scanning linear bar codes, including poorly printed and damaged codes. Voyager 1202g allows enterprises to minimize manual data entry, leading to increased productivity and reduction in errors.
This plug and play scanner incorporates a multi-interface design with automatic interface detection. Voyager 1202g automatically configures itself to the appropriate interface, shortening the installation process. 1202g’s easy installation will benefit users in environments such as retail
stores, hospitals, and light manufacturing facilities. The base can be desk or wall mounted to accommodate a variety of workstation layouts.
Bluetooth® Wireless Technology: Facilitates scanning of all standard 1D bar codes 33 feet (10 meters) or more away from the base, depending on the user’s environment
Long Battery Life and Tool-Free Battery Removal: The user-preferred Lithium ion battery provides 12 hours or more of use, depending on scanning volume, and the field-replaceable battery can be exchanged quickly and easily, without the use of tools
Automatic Interface Configuration: Supports all popular interfaces in one device, replacing the time consuming process of scanning programming bar codes with automatic interface detection and configuration
Excellent Poor Quality Code Reading: Increases throughput and reduces the potential for hand-keyed errors by quickly scanning a variety of 1D bar codes, including those that are damaged or smudged
Paging Functionality: Simply press the button on the base to locate your lost scanner; Voyager 1202g responds with a series of beeps and blinking lights on its indicator panel
Remote MasterMind™ Ready: Reduces total cost of ownership by providing a turnkey remote device management solution that easily manages and tracks usage of installed devices

This review is from: Honeywell 1202G-1USB-5 Voyager 1202g with Charge & Communication Base and USB Cable (Ivory)
Pros: Small, lightweight, comfortable, form fitting design. Feels great in hand. USB to base communicates and charges scanner. Green flashing indicates charging. Has a nice "find" push button on base and scanner beeps to help locate it if lost. Has a wide range of feature which I am not using. I am only using it to scan simple code 128 barcodes programmed as a usb keyboard (PC) and it works great. Very fast, efficient scanning and sending of info even at more than 45ft away from base. I can scan 10 barcodes in a matter of a few seconds. Easy to use "EZconfig" software downloaded from Honeywell website. Great wall mount feature with a fold out bracket which holds the scanner snugly in place when mounting on the wall. Overall, really great scanner for the low end price.
Cons: #1, doesn't support the use of the down arrow. The scanner by default scans, transmits, and then hits "enter" and it doesn't support changing this to the down arrow instead. It DOES however support using the tab key which provided as a workaround for my setup. Tech support told me this is a lower end model and the down arrow feature was applied to the newer firmware on the higher end model XENON 1900/1902. I am disappointed they wouldn't update the firmware for this model though. Using the "EZconfig" software, it is misleading as it actually allows you to program the down arrow to the scanner but it doesn't function properly. It takes a call to tech support before finding out the scanner doesn't support it.
#2, the actual user guide doesn't come with the scanner or a disc (maybe even a link) containing the config software, only a quick start guide came with it. I had to download the user guide from their website and had to search for it as well as the "EZconfig software". Some of the other transmitting options don't work very efficiently. The "out of stand, presentation" mode and the "out of stand w/ code gate" are very slow to scan and transmit data and also can only be done one barcode and then the scanner turns off and you have to wait for a few seconds before it turns back on. With the default "push to scan" you can push the button for each barcode very fast and efficiently and it works great.
Other Thoughts: Honeywell Tech support was excellent and very helpful. A quick call to them with no waiting times got me up and running. I even called the next day and they walked me through my down arrow issue. The tech support created special programming bar codes for me so i could use in different applications if I needed one application to scan and then hit tab and the other I need it to scan and hit enter. They emailed me the programming bar codes so I can easily scan one and tell the scanner what I want it to do before I work in that application. I am really impressed with their level of support and knowledge on the scanner. They even had one of these scanners at their desk to test as they were walking me through it.
The scanner would get 5 stars if it supported the use of the down arrow. I don't think it is right to force consumers to purchase a higher end model for almost $500 more than this one just to get that feature. Not to mention this one looks sleeker and I like that you don't have to point this one like a gun.
