4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price, excellent range

Pros: this unit is low cost and has upgradable antennas,l i put 2 huge ones on it and it worked great for about a year and a half. defentially paid for itself, my buddy was using my wireless 1500 feet away down the block with this little unit tweaked!

Cons: has a small buffer and not really worth sending in for RMA. I fried it after using it with the big antennas after awhile, apperently it has a low power brodcast system that can't handle it. if your using the wireless to the max it will drastically slow down the wired router, again what do you expect for $30? doesn't work with most smart phones and doesn't l;ike to work with xbox 360 for some reason.

4 out of 5 eggsGood router for the basics

Pros: My parents have been using this for a few years now and they've experienced no significant issues. They just use it for browsing mostly.

Cons: I wouldn't recommend it for gaming.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat cheap firewall/router

Pros: This unit is an excellent choice for the basic, low end home user who wants more protection than what's provided by the carrier's DSL or cable router. Has excellent 802.11n support. Very basic, very simple.

Cons: When these die they typically die with all the lights still on, so it can be a little hard to determine the unit is dead. But out of a dozen installed for various clients I've only had one die.

Other Thoughts: This unit has everything you need and nothing you don't. Very basic, but still includes a stateful packet inspection (SPI) firewall for good overall protection. When blended with OpenDNS can be a very effective firewall.

1 out of 5 eggsTRENDnet or TRENDnot

Pros: Good buy if it worked correctly.

Cons: Doesn't do the correct speeds my provider sends me.

Other Thoughts: This modem worked perfect at 1.5M down .5M up. This modem will not give me full line stats since I upgraded to 10M down 1M up. It will not give me more than 700-800k up. My 5 year old Zyxel 660r modem gives me 11776k down and 1024k up. TRENDnet tech support says there is nothing they can do. Sounds like I got a bad modem. Any one else have one of these that works correct? That would prove mine is defective but they want me to pay shipping and I'm not about to pay more money to these fools.

2 out of 5 eggsIffy performance

Pros: None really considering with so many routers to choose from, any weak link is gonna = death.

Cons: Wireless keeps dropping on one of my PCs and won't come back up unless rebooted. Using box simply as a wireless access point off a switch (disabled DHCP, static'ed entire box).

This loss of wireless connectivity = death for the thing. Replacing soon.

1 out of 5 eggsHad to RMA

Pros: easy setup

Cons: The router wouldn't broadcast in any other radio signal than g. No matter what you set the router for you got g. Newegg RMA'ed it for me without any hassle.

Other Thoughts: I really like Trendnet so I am surprised this didn't work for my client. Hey nobody's perfect and I will still buy Trendnet products.

2 out of 5 eggsNot what I expected

Pros: - Dead simple setup
- Attractive case
- Great Price
- Supports AES hardware encryption

Cons: - Not dual-band
- Connection speeds were not as advertised
- Constant dropped connections
- Very poor range
- No USB support

Other Thoughts: I am so disappointed with this router. Honestly, it was the price and the promise of 300 Mbps connectivity that made me buy it. Immediately after setup it was working fine, but within a month it started resetting the connection every few minutes which required constant resetting of the device. Even then I got maybe 30 minutes of use before another reset was required. Connection speed was downright pathetic vs. what's advertised, even with excellent signal strength I was getting maybe one third of my actual bandwidth. The range was terrible, 20 feet away with a direct line of sight to the device and the signal would drop to almost nothing. If I connected my Android to the network, my laptop would get disconnected and require yet another reset. Even after updating the router's firmware and getting the latest drivers for my other devices there was absolutely no increase in performance. Probably never going to go with a TRENDnet unit again.

Manufacturer Response:

2 out of 5 eggsKeep shopping

Pros: Ability to surf around the house for a cheap price

Cons: Ugh, we got caught by the low price. Constantly loosing connection. Have to always reset and reboot. Looses encryption every time it resets. Tried the firmware update with no improvement. Called tech support and all they could say was to reset it.

Other Thoughts: Going to be shopping for a new one that will keep a secure connection

Manufacturer Response:

3 out of 5 eggs300 mbps NO

Pros: Never let me down for 3 years always ran 54mbps solid (full bars).
Did its job, but not as spec'd

Cons: When I bought it I was all wireless-G. Started upgrading to N adapters one day when they had n-300 usb and pci cards on sale. Never seen 150 or 300 mbps ever. Even with laptop inches away from router. YES all drivers were currently updated, and all adapters are N-300.

Other Thoughts: It allowed me to cruise the internet and play random online games around the house fine. Only thing that showed its weakness was HD shows and movies in the farther rooms.
I now run an Encore N300 router that lights my entire place with solid bars of 300mbps, for being cheap its insane faster and no worries here.
