Yes. It works just fine with comcast cable. That's what I'm using it for now. Be ware though Comcast will do whatever it can to charge you for installation when you should easily be able to do it yourself.

Yes! I got this when I moved to Comcast as a provider. The router/modem works as advertised however Comcast sucks. You really need to be careful and stubborn with them or they will overcharged you or charge you for stuff that they shouldn't.

Yes, I have internet through Cox in Phoenix, and it works great.  i just had to call Cox and give them the serial code or mac address (can't remember) and it was all set up in a few minutes.

The box only states this is the C3000 model. However, this WILL work with Time Warner Cable services. I use it myself.

Mike, I just read through the manual and it says it's approved by all major US ISPs. If I had to guess I would say it would be compatible with Earthlink. You might want to call Earthlink and see if the can answer your question with a little more clarity. On a side note, I get between 2-3 Mbps faster download and a broader range coverage.

Does anyone know if disabling the WiFI and using a separate router causes any negativity that a standard cable modem would not?

Oddly, it depends on your ISP. (Because they control the firmware version you get on your router.)

The device has a mode that allows you to disable all the router functionality, basically turning it into a straight cable modem.

On Time Warner Cable the firmware version has a bug where disabling the router features doesn't work. Toggling the function on or off does nothing, and the device behaves as a router no matter what you do. You can still use an external router, it'll just be using another layer of NAT on top. Which is annoying. Performance in this configuration wasn't terrible though. I did have some weird incompatibility issues with some devices that seemed to not like the router-behind-a-router configuration.

On Comcast the firmware version supports this feature and disabling the router features works fine. I've got it this way now and it pretty much acts exactly like a normal cable modem. Performance is fine and things that didn't work router-behind-a-router work fine. (I was considering replacing it until I realized on Comcast the disable function works fine.)

No idea on other ISPs.

My recommendation though: don't get a combined unit. It's not worth the hassle -- especially on this device. The wifi range was very bad in my experience (in a small, NYC apartment, we had range issues -- crazy). Just get a cable modem and a separate router (I'd also recommend paying a bit extra and getting a GOOD router.) Even right next to the router I couldn't even pull 100 Mbps on the built-in wifi; after switching to a better WiFi router (still using this as a cable modem though) I'd get 200 Mbps that I paid for over wifi.
