Other Thoughts: I don't know if the fan will work plugged into 12v. I doesn't work plugged into USB. (tried on two computers)
I can probably use the packing/rubber nails and USB connector with another fan.

Pros: Works just as it says it does. I use this to cool a WD Mybook Live Duo, since it comes with no fan of its own and gets pretty hot. The rubber nails fit right through the top grill, and plugging the fan into the Mybook's USB port worked like a charm and it's keeping the unit nice and cool now.

I really had my doubts, because I figured the USB port on the Mybook was unpowered, but this thing worked great.

Cons: The foam housing that it sits in is kind of odd. Not enough to reduce an egg.

Other Thoughts: It's a great band-aid product, and I'll keep it in mind for other occasions that I might need a small external fan.

Pros: The Fan is very, very quiet. Inaudiable from about 6 inches away using the included foam stand. The fan is very thin and blows about as much air as inexpensive 80x80x25mm fans.

Cons: The CFM isn't as good as some other fans that are 10mm in depth but these fans are also a bit quieter

Other Thoughts: This is a pretty awesome product, runs off USB & 12V, the startup voltage for many fans is 7V, this starts off of 5V.

The foam padding can be used to sound dampening on the case, so combine this with some aluminum mesh filters and you have a silent, sealed system

Cons: It's advertised to be a 12v / 5v fan, but, the fan itself has only 12v markings on it. It will not power up when plugged into a usb port, I've tried several ports on more than one computer.

Other Thoughts: Web search shows that many people found this arrangment to be useless, Newegg should not be selling a 12v fan for a 5v usb port.

Pros: Nice USB/3 pin power option. can be used inside a computer our outside. very quiet. CFM is 24.71CFM / 10.74CFM. Which isn't huge but if you have it close to what you want to cool it will do it quietly.

Cons: kind of wish the CFM was more around 32. I know you can have a silent fan with that kind of cfm.
