5 out of 5 eggsNice Upgrade

Pros: Excellent packaging
"Modified Fixture" label included
Simple install
Got rid of that old annoying ballast hum

Cons: Does take a second or so to "start," but of course, so did my old ballasts.

Other Thoughts: Quick modification to my fixtures, slap the new label on the fixture (so that future bulb changers understand that the ballast has been bypassed), and peel off the protective film. Done.

I even left the old ballasts in the fixtures, as there was no need to remove them entirely.

I purchased and installed 5 pairs of these and will buy more when they go back on the sale again.
(Could only buy "limit 5" during the Shell Shocker sale).

3 out of 5 eggsbulbs only

Pros: you get 2 led bubs. Newegg did ship it quickly

Cons: you do not get any extra hardware including non shunted bulb holders. This is not a kit it is only 2 led bulbs.

Other Thoughts: you need to verify you have not shunted bulb holders. Most T-8 fixture use Shunted bulb holders. There are led reto kits that include all the hardware for the same as the sale price of $45.00 you just have to look around on the web. check out Total Lighting Supply on web

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Newegg shipped these very fast, and arrived in a strong cardboard tube. As others have noted here installation was easy and fairly quick to do. If you can build or swap components in your PC, you can re-wire a flors. fixture to use these bulbs. Very happy with the light output and brightness of these bulbs.

Cons: Would have preferred one with a warm light color for in the kitchen, but minor.

Other Thoughts: You'll need a few extra small wire nuts before beginning install. Also once your fixture is apart check if your bulb connectors (tombstones) are shunted or not, as the must be unshunted ones for the LED bulbs setup. Just use a multimeter and check them for continuity-if none then you are good to go. (and watch the install video on the product page - way easier than making sense of the convulted written instructions that come with the bulbs!)

2 out of 5 eggsNot bad, but don't throw out the T-8's yet

Pros: No ballast required.

Cons: Light output not as good as T8 bulbs, also peripheral light is almost non-existent. Lag time when starting up.

Other Thoughts: Ehh, LED has lots of advantages, and I had a ballast going bad in a T8 fixture, so I thought I would give these a try. It cured the failing ballast because you have to remove it for the LED lights, but the light output was weak. Also, I didn't care for the delay on startup. Went back and replaced the ballast and now back to using T8 bulbs again. LED is up and coming, but it ain't there yet...

5 out of 5 eggsgreat tube light

Pros: Good color. As bright as light it replaced (from observation not scientific). Switchover not hard but took a little time to remove all unneeded wires and the ballast. Will get some more to use in fixtures that have a bad ballast. A real good deal then because of "free" fixture. Just what I needed to excuse my habit of keeping things that don't work. You know---"I might use that for something"

Cons: none at this time

Other Thoughts: There is a delay for the light to come on. Almost a full second. If that is a big deal and you can't wait that long for your lights, then you will not be happy with these.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat tubes for florescent replacement.

Pros: VERY NICE. Bright daylight in our kitchen now.
Replaced two 40watt daylight florescents with these and wow, what a difference. They use 1/2 the electricity, last longer and are brighter.

Cost effectiveness is negotiable however as florescent tubes are super cheap but, these LED alternatives are far superior in the illumination department. Also cooler, last longer and no noise.

Wiring was a piece of cake, far easier than the instructions read. Just kill power, remove the ballast, cap off the wires individually on one end of the fixture and run 115 to one end of each tubes socket. Typically already paralleled wiring exists in most 2 tube fixtures. Took 10 minutes.

Cons: 4 Stars due to two reasons.
1- Cost (and I got these on sale for 45 bucks pair here).
2- 1 second time delay when you flip the switch.

Other Thoughts: Cost of these is high. Basically, 12.225 cents a KWH is our power bill bottom line. So two 40's at 10 hours a day draw around .8 KWH and with ballast, prob close to 1KWH per day. So, ~$3.68 a month for std tubes and ~$1.50 for these LED tubes at 10 hours a day (if they in fact pull 19watts). So, they can pay for themselves in just over a year at 10 hours a day usage. A good investment.

3 out of 5 eggstypical LED lights

Pros: Good color light, plenty of brightness to replace T8 florescent bulbs.

Cons: It does require some electrical know how to modify your existing fixture to rewire for these bulbs. The instructions didn't cover my particular fixture, so I ended up shorting connections on my first attempt at installation. Also there is a 0.75 to 1.5 second delay between when you flip the switch and when the light actually turns on. It takes longer if the lights are cold. This delay is a bit longer than other LEDs I've used.

5 out of 5 eggsShould have done this sooner

Pros: Very Bright - My garage has 2 fluorescent lamps with hold 2 x 4' tube each. I was able to modified the the fluorescent lamps with out having to add any new HW. I am using 1 of the LED Tube for each lamp so I went from 4 fluorescent to 2 LED Tube. I also use occupancy sensor light switch for my garage and it seem to caused the standard fluorescent lamp to flicker and burn out quickly. The LEDs seem to be working fine.

Cons: Not that I can tell

Other Thoughts: after a search about the the different between shunt and unshunt holder I finally realize that the just mean that. Shunt = both connectors on the same holder are wired together. unshunt = connectoors are not connected together. my old holders has 2 cables with the same color connect to the holder on each side. I assumed that they are probably the same and this how Mfg make the unshunt holder work lamp without starter. I check with my multimeter to make sure also. once. So all I have to do is just cut the pair of red and pair of blue on my old lamp and then just wire one red one blue to the black from sw and and one red one blue to the white. That was its. 5 minutes job.
