5 out of 5 eggsBright light

Pros: Have been using the bulbs since receiving them and are very happy with their performance. They are bright while staying quite cool to the touch - which means very low in power consumption. I hope to purchase more down stream.

Cons: None yet.

Other Thoughts: Someday, I hope to equip the entire house with LED lights.

4 out of 5 eggsLED Light for large room.

Pros: Lights the entire room like it's daylight. Being used in a ceiling fan, and in an extra large room, they work great.

Cons: What the description fails to say is even though they are only 40 watts, they are NOT soft white, or even close. They are daylight. They take about 3-5 seconds to start, but once they fire up, don't even look at where they are( I'm using a 3bulb celling fan, and even though it's an xtra large room, the entire room is lit up too much. But I can live with that. Daylight is extremely bright, so use them in a lamp with a shade. Exposed just too bright.

Other Thoughts: Really need to state what type of color temp they are. Daylight, soft white etc. only a minor complaint. Going to order ones that are soft white, and put these to use somewhere else.

5 out of 5 eggsGood bulb. Good price.

Pros: Plenty bright. Replaced 60 watt regular bulbs. Good product. Good price. No more constantly changing bulbs. Lasts forever.

Cons: None.

2 out of 5 eggsFrustrating

Pros: Nice color temperature, bright light, low energy consumption (just as any other LED)

Cons: HUGE lag when turning on. You should take this serious. It's really confusing to turn on the light, walk into the room (in dark) and wait until the bulbs turn on... We actually switched back to the previous set of bulbs because of this frustrating lag. Now, I can honor bulbs with instant-on feature.

Other Thoughts: I could buy them for around $3.50 as part of a promotion but they do not worth it. However, I will not return them because I'm looking for fixtures where I would not mind the insane lag.

4 out of 5 eggsThey look great

Pros: They actually have a very nice colored light. To my wife and me, they seemed brighter than our 60 watt equivalent CFL bulbs. I will glad to not have to replace bulbs so often. They do not have to warm up.

Cons: There is about a 1 second delay after turning them on before you get light. IT comes on full strength though so it is not a big deal.

Other Thoughts: I am using these in a ceiling fan. I would like to try them in some in ceiling cans next.

4 out of 5 eggsWarm White?

Pros: They are LED's and very low wattage.

Cons: Slow to start and not very warm.

Other Thoughts: I have used LED's for a long time but not much experience with LED household bulb replacements. The light is very white to me and not very warm in my opinion. 40 Watt maybe? Seems just a bit duller than my 40 Watt incandescent are. The low wattage low operating temperature and low price kinda makes up for it I guess. Trying to go greener and still watch my pocket.

1 out of 5 eggsCheap bulb

Pros: Cheap

Cons: 1-Very long (2 sec.) startup delay.
2-Not really 40 watt equiv. It is 380 lumens, 40 watts is generally accepted to be 450-500 lumens.
3-Very "non-Omnidirectional", almost no radiation toward the base.

Other Thoughts: There are better bulbs on the market, even at this price

2 out of 5 eggsNOT DIMMABLE

Pros: Cheapish (but once you factor in shipping, not as cheap as they should be)

Brightish (can't complain about lumens per watt or color)

Coolish (voltage regulator gets warm, like all 120V LEDs, but not nearly as hot as CFLs)

Cons: NOT DIMMABLE - nothing on package or description mentions this. Most LED 120V bulbs are compatible with VPW* (SCR or MOSFET) Dimmers (like the venerable BSR x.10 spec, or newer ones from various folks like Phillips). In fact, I've yet to see one in a store which did not say Dimmable. Attempts to use these bulbs (yeah, I bought two - just in case one was DOA) with dimming results in flashing / flickering / no light and might possibly damage the bulb and/or dimmer.

Slow to power up - many others have mentioned this, so no details needed.

Other Thoughts: I didn't page back far enough to see that others had warned about not dimmable.

The slowness to power on is just as annoying as everyone else says. Most of my CFLs power up faster (although some CFLs take a minute or two warming up to full brightness).

* VPW = Variable Pulse Width - SCR or MOSFET has a variable delay prior to turning on each time AC sine wave swings up or down. The longer the delay, the narrower the pulse width and the less power transmitted => dimmer light. Works with incandescent, CCF (Cold Cathode Fluorescent), most LED bulbs. The distorted sinewave will fry transformers (high intensity lights / some quartz-halogen track lights) and CFLs (dimmer modules often do not survive such encounters).

CFL = Compact Fluorescent
