5 out of 5 eggsLED

Pros: I was afraid that they would be cold and bright but they are nice. A little cooler then my standard 60 w bulbs but they are brighter.

Cons: Unless you get them on sale they are not cheap

4 out of 5 eggsGreat light

Pros: Very nice light. I didn't realize how yellow normal bulbs look. These are much easier on your eyes.

Cons: Not an "instant on" bulb. Seems like they take a full second. Not a huge deal but you should know.

Other Thoughts: Well worth buying. Will buy more.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent light bulb

Pros: Very inexpensive (got two LED light bulbs for under $10)
Even light output without a visible hotspot
Pleasing color that is similar to incandescent bulbs.
Long life expectancy

Cons: Brief delay when turning on (~1 second)

Other Thoughts: I bought these as a two-for-one special and wish I had bought more.

I'm using one bulb as a replacement for a recently burned-out incandescent that was in the light over my townhome's front door, and it is perfect for that use -- it has amazing light output for using just 6W. My next-door neighbor has a CFL in his light, it is a harsh white color and the bulb's spirals are clearly visible behind the light's frosted glass -- I very much prefer the look of the Collection LED bulb.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat value if you can deal w/ the lighting delay

Pros: Excellent value -- especially when they are on the "buy one, get one" combo deal.

Cons: Longest delay to light that I've seen for an LED bulb

Other Thoughts: This light has a good color to it if you are looking for something north of soft white and barely into the bright white range. I like these for my kitchen, as they are not so warm as to not be able to see what's going on with food -- but are not so cool as to look like you're in a hospital or a lab.

3 out of 5 eggsGood deal but only when On Sale

Pros: Price/Value - bought on sale buy two for price of one
Energy efficient
Environmentally friendly - no mercury.

Cons: Not dimmable
Slight delay when turning on
Not as bright as 6 watt LED from local hardware
Warranty - 2 years is very short for LED

Other Thoughts: I will compare this bulb (made in China) to an equivalent bulb made by an American manufacturer, CREE, to see if it is a good deal..

Price - both the Chinese made and USA made are the same price. The exception is Newegg had this brand on sale two for the price of one. At regular price, the USA made bulb is definitely a better buy. Just check out the features below and you will see the American brand wins hands down.

Beam angle - this brand has a 180 beam angle so it is not suitable for a lamp where side light for reading is important. The CREE brand made in USA has the same beam as a normal light bulb - it is omnidirectional.

Brightness - USA wins again. 6watt CREE is 450 lumens, 6 watt Collection bulb is 385 lumens.

Lumens per watt - CREE 75, Collection 67.

Dimmable - Collection brand - no. CREE brand - yes.

Power on delay - Collection brand: 1 to 2 second delay. CREE brand is instant on.

Retail price - Collection $9.99, CREE $9.97

Warranty - Collection: 2 year limited warranty. CREE brand has a 10 year limited warranty.

Final verdict - At the sale price of about $5 each, the Collection light bulb is a good buy. I would buy more at this price. However, at full price of $9.99, I would choose to buy the USA made brand available at my local big box hardware. You can definitely see the quality difference in the lights. Hoping Newegg will start carrying some USA made products. This would be one area to start. I have several brands of LED bulbs and I can say the USA made bulb easily beats the competition in both energy efficiency and quality. LED is the way to go. I would recommend these bulbs if you can get them in the range of $5 to $7.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Efficient
LED
Bright
High Quality

Cons: other than the minor seconds of delay, WHICH IS FOUND IN ALL LED BULBS and the amount will vary, I have none.

Other Thoughts: Going Strong!! Bright, I would love to replace all the lights I have to that.

2 out of 5 eggsdisappointing

Pros: Still working, appears brighter than the 40W equivalent CFL it replaced.

Cons: Surprising delay to light, consumes nearly the power of CFL (6w instead of 7w). For LED, I expect instant-on and *much* lower power consumption compared to CFL. Otherwise, why pay more?

Other Thoughts: Haven't noticed significant benefit over CFL. Costs more. When one quits I will disassemble it to inspect circuitry, especially whether it's LED or CFL. Unsure how it's wired, but I'm so mystified by the behavior that I wonder if it's a CFL with the customary high-voltage starting circuitry. Recently flickered, just like CFL. If it's not CFL in disguise, perhaps it has voltage/current regulation typical of CFL.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great

Pros: I replaced my 40W track bulb with this. It works far better than expected. Functions slight brighter than the old bulb but it's just as easy on the eyes.

Cons: None

5 out of 5 eggsLED Tech bulbs and energy efficiency and durability

Pros: Energy efficiency and durability, works in existing fixtures. Light quality is good and turns on quickly. Kill-a-watt shows 4.8 to 4.9 watts and light output was comparable to a 40 watt incandescent bulb, but with visually the same light output.

Cons: Warranty is less than the projected life, so time will tell how long it lasts.
