2 out of 5 eggsWorked great for a few months...

Pros: -PWM fan control, which produces much less heat than variable resistors
-Easy installation
-Cheap

Cons: -After 3 months I started to smell burning electronic components and found out that it was the fan controller.
-I would have preferred that the header for the fan was directly attached to the controller and an extension cable was provided
-Wires were too long and made my case look messy

5 out of 5 eggsVery useful

Pros: Clever little device. I wanted to slow the CPU fan in my HTPC without using one of those huge 5.25" controllers designed to fit in a drive bay. This provides an external knob in a small package that easily fits within the case with my mATX motherboard.

Cons: None at this time.

Other Thoughts: I have a mobo in my HTPC that displays the RPM of the CPU fan, but does not control the speed. This is an excellent compromise since I can still monitor the fan but no longer have to listen to it run.

1 out of 5 eggsok it it lasted

Pros: works nicely

Cons: Adjusted speeds up and down nicely the first day.

The next day it ran the fan at the lowest speed regardless of how the knob was turned.

The Third day it ceased providing any power to the fan.

2 out of 5 eggsNot Beefy

Pros: Inexpensive
Works with your MB fan connections
Allows passthru of fan speed signals to MB

Cons: Voltage controller is not mounted to a heat sink. When I ran my fan at full speed the controller overheated and burned out. This could have easily been prevented if the voltage controller had been attached to the metal PCI slot cover. Then your case would act like a large heat sink.

Other Thoughts: No way this thing can work at the rated specs of 14.4W. I ran it with a 0.2A fan (= 2.4W) and the voltage controller got too hot to touch.

Newegg does not appear to carry a decent single fan controller. The one that comes with Rosewill fans is not much better and does not have the speed passthru. There are multi fan controllers out there that you mount in a 5" bay but they are much more expensive.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked like a charm

Pros: Cheap, easy to install, worked.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: My dumb Gigabyte MOBO does not control the system fan speed, so this was a cheap and easy answer.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for my setup

Pros: Outstanding Design!
Inexpensive!

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I used these in my case removing the panel for the slot and drilled holes since all of my slots were taken up. They are one of the only ones I could find that power from the motherboard and allow you to monitor from the motherboard. Great design and concept.
