It says "dual" and I am assuming there is two (2) light rods? I have seen this b4 and it was only selling the adapter for "dual".

Yes, there are two in the package. One adapter inside that supports both. Be advised during construction, the "leads" from the cathode light are short, around 6-8 inches.

Im just getting into building my own computer and was looking at putting my own LED's inside my case. My question is where does it get plugged into for its power the motherboard? or the power supply? thanks for your help

Hello.  This has a molex adapter which plugs directly into a power supply's molex plug.  However, this light set has its own transformer.  So the two LED lights plug into that transformer.  Then the transformer connects directly to the power supply for power, using that aforementioned molex plug.

Will this light up when my PC boots (if I leave the switch in the "on" position) or will I need to engage the on switch each time that I boot my PC?

Yes, it is always on until you turn the switch off. Mine have been on since I installed them...even after turning computer off and restarting.

Does this product use a molex connector as a power source?

It does use Molex as a power sourse. Each set has an inverter/transformer (little blue box) that bumps the voltage to 600volts. This box has one power input socket and two cathode power output sockets. Each Molex female end wired to power the box also has a male Molex end wired in so you can string multiple sets of cathodes together. Hope this helps.

How far apart can I separate the 2 lights? Can I put one at the top and the other at the bottom of my ATX case, wiring from behind the motherboard?

They both connect to a blue box at the same spot
The blue box connects to your power supply
The wires leading from the lights to the box are about 10 inches long, give or take.
I was able to put one standing on the side of my case, and one laying on the bottom of my ATX case.
You could probably reach the top should you position the blue box accordingly, but getting it to stick and stay up there is a different matter.

Can you use this as external lights? Like without a computer? i was thinking of putting a few under my desk to light it up

In theory you could, but you would have to find a power source with a connector compatible with the 3-pin or molex power connector since these were built to be connected to the motherboard of a computer or directly to it's power supply.

Very creative idea though!

Is there a way that i can plug this into a wall outlet? Also would it be hard to make it pulsate to music??

You will need a 12vdc transformer in order to plug this into the wall.  Do not get a "wall outlet style plug to a Molex style plug" as Beth B suggested previously.  Not only will you blow up the transformer (blue box that comes with the tubes), but you could easily hurt yourself.

is it 12inch including the 2 ends or is the light it's self 12inches PLUS the length of the ends?

12 inches end to end the ends are just caps so there probably only a centimeter or a half a centimeter that isn't the cathode itself. And again 12 inch end to end.
