Scythe Co. knows the problem: you've got lots of fans, lots of noise, and you still don't know if the fans are actually cooling things off enough. In fact, you don't even know if all of your fans are actually turning.

Here's their solution: a panel that checks the temperature in up to four locations and the speed of up to four fans (may require three-pin connectors on fans) every two seconds. You manually fine tune the speed of each fan for the best compromise between temperature and noise, and an audio alarm lets you know if there is a fan or a temperature failure. Mounted on a sturdy aluminum frame that fits in an unused 5.25 inch bay, it is available in black (KM02-BK) or silver (KM02-SL).

Take control of the single most dangerous factor a computer faces: its own heat. Is this for you? That's your decision, but I think I want one.

  • newegg Premium Fan Controller The Scythe KM02-BK allows you to control the rotation speed of up to four fans to minimize the noise while providing sufficient cooling. The large blue-illuminated display provides instant readouts of the fan temperatures and rotation speeds for easy monitoring while an integrated acoustic alarm function warns you of overheating and fan failure.
  • newegg Fits 5.25" Drive Bays The Scythe KM02-BK features great compatibility with any computer chassis with a standard 5.25” drive bay.

Precious aluminum design:
High-quality materials were used when producing the Kaze Master Ace. The front consists of brushed aluminum and accentuates the blue illuminated VFD display in an optimal way.

Fan control and temperature monitoring:
With the Kaze Master Ace, four fans can be controlled independently, and four temperatures (in either ° C or °F) can be monitored. An integrated acoustic alarm function (which can be deactivated by a jumper) warns the user from overheating and failure of a fan.

Wide range of fan controller:
The fan voltage can be independently controlled from 3.7 - 12 V, in addition, the fan can be switched off completely which allows the user to choose between high and ultra-cooling operation.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job

Pros: Easy to install, controls fans, displays temp readings, good brightness level, quieted down my system significantly.

Cons: Can be hard to get the temp sensors on places you really want to get accurate readings, for example, a meaningful place near the a GPU. But software monitors (HWiNFO32) are good enough these days that its a non-issue.

Other Thoughts: This really quieted down my computer's fans for normal usage. On hot days or when running full load, its easy to return fans to full. If I didn't want blinking lights on my case, an internal subtler solution to the fan noise issue would have worked.

5 out of 5 eggsThe Finishing Touch

Pros: My computer feels complete now.
Putting this controller on the front of your computer is like lacing your car in chrome trim. It's like buying a full goldtooth grill.
Controller turns off fan led too so my computers bright lights do not keep me up at night.
This thing is pure bling. You won't find a premanufactured pc with a sexy lcd screen out front. It takes your computer's
look to the next level.
It is also really useful though. The controls knobs are really nice and sturdy. The temps are accurate. The lcd is really sharp and bright but not too bright.
Matches my shiny blu ray burners.
I got it open box for $20!
Set up was easy.

Cons: I really, really, really wish they had one in red! Fortunately it is mounted above my blu ray burners that have flashing blu led so there is something blue to harmonize the color scheme.

I wish I could turn the screen off for when I fall asleep. Wish the knobs did not turn smooth but had some ridges to make them more accurate.

Other Thoughts: After about 8 builds, this is my first external fan controller. I used to just program fan control in the bios. But this is wayyyy better.

I looked at controller for about 3 months before buying this. I went to stores, looked at a bunch of utube vids, and finally settled on this one. I do not regret it.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple and works great!

Pros: Simple and works!. I now have 2 of these displays and both are working great.

Cons: only has 4 hook ups. Hook ups only have the small design connectors for the fans.

Other Thoughts: Be very careful with the temp sensors. I damage one installing it in a tight spot. Lucky for me I had an extra from another brand control head I bought and turned out to be junk.

4 out of 5 eggsAmended Review

Pros: Works fine. I had negatively reviewed this product a few hours ago because I thought one of the fan channels had crapped out on me. After doing some investigating, I discovered the problem lay with the fan itself and not the controller. Thus, I thought I'd give this product a positive review to make up for the negative ones.

Cons: None so far. I need to buy a new fan, though.

Other Thoughts: A few other negative reviews of this product claim that one channel or more have died on them after a few months or so. I just want to say that I counted myself among them until I actually checked the fans by directly plugging them into the mobo and then directly plugging them into the PSU. It is possible, I think, that other reviewers have mistakenly blamed this product rather than the fans, which can short circuit.

3 out of 5 eggsGood While It Lasted

Pros: Sat flush in my case, came with lots of wires and sensor probes, looks high quality, feels like decent quality. When fan RPM drops to zero, it alerts with a beeping sound. The LED lights all work just fine (as of 3 or 4 months following purchase).

Cons: Channel 1 (this controller comes with 4 channels) has died. If I turn the knob all the way the fan will reach peak RPM momentarily then drop down to zero. Have to turn it off to avoid the beeping sound.

Other Thoughts: It costs way too much for a controller than only handles 4 channels (thus, 4 fans). I've never RMA'd any product with Newegg, nor do I have the gumption to make any attempts at returns. I don't know what to do.

1 out of 5 eggsDo not Buy

Pros: Nice front display

Cons: I've had 3 channels on my fan controller die within a year. Plus all the temp probes stopped working within about 7 months.

Also it can't operate the Scythe Slipstream fans I bought at anything slower than about 1200-1400RPM. I was hoping for around 800-1000RPM but the fans just stop if I try slower speeds!!

Save yourself the trouble and don't buy this!! I attempted to RMA through Scythe, but never got a response. After a month of trying I gave up with them!

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome.

Pros: Pretty much everything about it is awesome. It's probably the one of the best fan controllers on newegg.

Cons: It doesn't have a touch screen or any of that high speed jazz. It's just a straight up fan controller with 4 temp sensors. I like it that way but some people want all that extra junk too. I'll be laughing at them a year from now when their touch screens go bad and my fan controller is still rocking.

1 out of 5 eggsPiece of Junk

Pros: Controls 4 fans
Nice Display

Cons: 1 of the fan controllers died after about 6 months, the second just died after about a year of ownership.

The worst thing is when the fan controller dies there is no indication that your fan stopped!!! No alarm or anything.

Other Thoughts: I won't be buying Scythe products again!

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing!

Pros: Looks better than in any of the pictures. The LED display is high quality. Very bright and easy to read from any angle. The install was easier than the other reviews made it sound. Purchasing this fan controller felt like a gamble, but i'm very glad i bought it!

Cons: The wires were indeed a light squeeze but anyone that can assemble a computer can manage using a screwdriver to push the connectors in. My least favorite thing so far is that if you disconnect any of the fans while its powered on (including the side panel fan that I remove frequently while my machine is still on) the alarm will go off. It is VERY loud.
