Can the display be rotated, for instance if the unit was installed vertically say in a Corsair 540?

Unfortunately no, the layout of the fan controller touch display is static and always remains in the same location. So if you installed this inside a case where the bays used were vertical instead of horizontal, the info displayed would also be vertical.

Does this controller change fan speed automatically or just manually?

Accepted Answer

It allows you to control the fan speed for up to 4 fans. You can adjust each one to whatever rpm setting you want and that is what it will maintain. There is no auto type setting. It works very well especially if you want to slow down (quiet) some of the fan noise.

how do I adjust alarm temperture?

Unlock the screen by pressing the lock symbol. To change the alarm temperature for Temp 1, for example, press and hold your finger on the temp 1 temperature display number until it begins to flash (approx. 3 seconds).  Once flashing, use the "+" or "-" buttons to change the temperature up or down respectively.  Once done, press the flashing temperature display number once again to stop the numbers from flashing and set the internal alarm temperature to the new setting.  Do the same thing for any of the other 3 temperature alarm settings.
