Vantech's Tornado TD8038H 80mm black case fan is a powerful cooling solution for today's desktop computers. The dual ball-bearing design extends the life span of the fan and keeps it spinning at 5,700rpm. It easily installs in a wide variety of desktop cases and yet is capable of pushing more than three times the air than a standard 80mm case fan—whether it's used to pull cool air into your system or push hot air out.
The fan can connect to your motherboard's standard 3-pin fan connector for power or the optional 4-pin cable allows you to connect this fan to your power supply. Perfect for gamers and overclockers, the Vantec Tornado Case Fan is a no-compromise solution to overheated computer woes.

INDUSTRIAL GRADE COOLING
- Comments: Countless of these reviews note the loudness. THIS IS GRANTED FOR HOW POWERFUL IT IS.
If you use headphones more than speakers then this will not matter. The noise isn't anywhere near enough to overpower headphones. Also if you work around electronics cabinets/server rooms/ etc with lots of powerful fans, you'll probably get used to this one quick.
Here are some suggestions if you don't care about noise: Seal your case! This fan is so powerful it will suck air from all points of entry with considerable flow regardless if you have several decent intake fans going (unless those intakes are the same power each as this one). Use as an exhaust fan if you don't want to/can't use a filter. USE A FILTER if you need intake. It is like a vacuum. Also, make sure your power supply is good for it. This baby takes 3/4th of an amp of current. Most fans take half or a 1/3 of that. MOST IMPORTANTLY....unless your system is baking hot without this fan running at full speed (no system should be), then you will need an adjustment knob or have it rigged with a temperature sensor...whatever. There is no need for this fan to run it's uninhibited speed at all times. It's loud and it's powerful and that's the overhead for you if you run into heat problems, otherwise it could probably cool a system off just fine at even a 1/3 of it's normal power. It uses the standard power connectors that connects to all your hard drives/cd-roms so put this on the END of the chain or on it's own connector if you're going to install some type of adjustment system.
About the noise...
- Pros: Moves crazy air, I've got it blowing on my x1900xtx which doesn't go over 65C overclocked. There is also a 92mm version of this fan that moves EVEN MORE air, but I didn't have room for it. Also, from what I've seen and read, it is a very high quality fan and should last a long time.
- Cons: I got POed after reading people complaining about noise. The name of this fan is the tornado. Decibals are clearly advertised. There are 200+ reviews that state the fan is 'loud.' If noise bothers you, GET A FAN CONTROLLER or, better yet, BUY A DIFFERENT FAN. 95% of fans are designed for low noise. Take your pick.
- Other Thoughts: I bet these are the same people who complain about ride stiffness in sports cars. BTW, noise isn't that bad, I have it running 100% at all times, roommate doesn't even mind. It's got the same pitch as a hairdryer but not nearly the volume.

Outstanding performance
- Pros: This fan is incredible! I had two of them running in a computer I built a few years back and they were overkill. I connected one to an aftermarket heat sink on my CPU and the other as a system exhaust and had those both connected to a fan speed controller. I kept them running as low as possible and it was still sufficient air flow for my purposes. If you need it cool, this is your fan.
- Cons: None.
- Other Thoughts: Consider this: I had my computer facing a window in my room with curtains on it. When I turned the fan all the way up, the curtains would move in the breeze these things created…the window is 15 feet away from the computer. They are loud…55 decibels coming from an 80mm fan is some serious noise. I chose not to list this as a con because anybody who buys these fans for anything other than air movement is not shopping smart. Again, if it needs to be air cooled, this is the fan for you.
Verry Happy
- Pros: Pushes some good air and it fits.
- Cons: Loud but hey not even as close to what has been said.
- Other Thoughts: Bought two of these now all I need is the other parts. If noise bugs you then I wouldn't suggest these.
Tornado Fans
- Pros: I build my own computers and run a graphics intense game (MS Flight Simulator).. The interior of the computer (dual Graphics Cards w/heat sinks, not fans), high powered AMD64 x2 CPU, etc.) gets hot! As a result, I have two Tornado Fans fitted to the case.. a 92mm "pusher" on the front and an 80mm "puller" at the rear. Both fans are on a Fan Controller so I can dial them down (speed and noise) when doing low demand computing (e-mails, web surfing, Word, etc.). I crank them up when "flying" in the sim. Since I wear headphones, the noise is not an issue.. nor are the Tornados as loud as the engines on the sim planes. I am going to add a third 80mm Tornado on the side of the case, directly over the CPU fan/heat sink.. give it a bit more help. I've never had a heating problem with just the two Tornados, the third will be "cheap insurance"!
- Cons: ummmm.. None. People complain about the noise (read the warnings in the adverts!), a fan controller allows both speed and noise management and is, in my opinion, a "Must Have" with two or three Tornado Fans. (if for no other reason than to keep the CPU case from being blown off the table!).
- Other Thoughts: The Tornados are, by far, the best Case Fans for the money. The average computer could probably get by with a single, "standard" exhaust fan. A "Moderate" Gaming Computer is easily handled with two controllable Tornado fans. Quad Cores, High Demand graphics/gaming might need three controllable Tornado fans, especially those with 700Watt+ PSU's that only have an "average" CFM 120mm fan. The third Tornado over the CPU that's "pushing air" into the case should help to force more air thru the PSU.
