Pros: Just to let people know. If you got back to this page looking for the driver as I did the driver is now on windows update for windows 7. It's under optional updates and labeled something like "Prolific - other hardware Prolific usb-to-serialport". I was not able to locate the driver anywhere on the net. Not sure if it will still work on windows 8 or not, we'll see I guess.

Cons: works ok but -2 stars since the product is no longer supported.

Cons: No drivers are available for Windows 7 (regardless of what another review might tell you). The company was sold to another company and they do not have drivers listed for downloading. Driver disk is useless.

Pros: The USB to Serial converter is easy to install on both Windows 7 x86 and x64. Uses the prolific driver. Works fine on Cisco gear.

Pros: Downloaded drivers directly from Prolific, installs on any OS w/o any issues. For sure not a fake Prolific chipset installed on this device. Configuring Cisco routers/switches w/ this device..

Other Thoughts: Running a mix of Vista x32, Win 7 x64 and XP x32 OS. All recognized this device

Pros: Works great ... remember to copy hyperterm.* from an XP load before you start on Win7

Cons: Remember to load the drivers before plugging in.

Other Thoughts: Works great with Cisco and HP console ports.... much better than keeping and old laptop around just for the 9-pin interface.

Pros: NONE

Cons: Causes computer to crash, tried on another but it wont recognize anything is connected. Waste of time and money.

Pros: Works fine my UPS can be connected now took a while to figure out the software for my UPS.

Cons: My GUI for my UPS sucks but thats completely irrelevant here.

Other Thoughts: Purchased this then made the mistake of buying two cheap no-name adapter cables from that large on-line auction site. Big mistake, the cheap ones had a counterfeit Prolific PL-2303 IC and would not work. This is common, search for 'FAQ on Error Code 10. - Welcome to Prolific' to get the IC manufacturers view.

The GWC UC320 has the genuine IC and works perfectly. Spend the money and cry once, you get what you pay for!! I'm about to order another.

Pros: Works properly on my Win-XP SP3 system (appears as COM8 in the Device Manager). Only checked out at 4800 and 9800 baud with no handshaking so far but no problems noted. Price is right.

Cons: Requires driver installation from the (supplied) CD-ROM for all versions of Windows. Cable is only 2 feet long.
