Robust surge suppression with sine-wave tracking protects against the heaviest of surge conditions, exceeding IEEE category A&B specifications and reducing 6,000V test surges to harmless levels less than 35 volts.

Multi-component suppression circuits combine torroidal chokes, ferrite rod-core inductors, HF/VHF capacitors and multiple layers of metal oxide varistors into exclusive isolated filter banks that remove EMI/RFI interference, even noise from other pieces of connected equipment.

6 outlets arranged in three filter banks prevent system crashes, reboots and performance problems common as noisy peripherals are powered off and on.

Network grade surge suppression rated at 3330 joules/97,000 amps

Widely spaced outlets accommodate up to 4 large transformer plugs without blocking outlets

3 LED indicators confirm suppressor operation and site wiring status, plus warning of suppressor or electrical fault conditions

Lighted power switch confirms power on/off status

5 out of 5 eggsTripp Lite ISOBAR6ULTRA 6 ft Cord 6 Outlets 3330 Joules

Pros: Has been providing very stable power and is still going very strong after 3 light surges.

Has a nice warranty on it

Cons: It's all good

5 out of 5 eggsfield tested

Pros: Have been using Isobar metal surge suppressors along with other supressor designs (non-MOV) for over 15 years. I have seen the Isobars in action. A friend's house was hooked up 'incorrectly' at the pole, and everything electric in the house was destroyed, including the refrigerator and stove. That was no everyday "surge"; it was a voltage onslaught. The surviving equipment: stereo rack, which was hooked to the isobar. The isobar was a charred crisp inside. Stereo rack components: all in perfect condition.

Cons: Quite expensive vs the 'cheap' brands (which do practically nothing for many common spike conditions), but on the other hand, a much better value than some name-brand-premium stuff on the shelf for much higher prices.

Other Thoughts: Metal is a big plus in case of internal heat/fire issues when the "spark hits the fan." However since metal is conductive some may see that as a negative vs plastic models. However it is built solidly and unlikely as a shock risk unless it is severely damaged or improperly disassembled/assembled.

suppressors are supposed to be replaced every so often as the suppression parts absorb the periodic voltage spikes and get weaker. Not sure how often, I do 5-7 years and relegate the older ones to non-essential equipment (ex: a glorified plug-in strip. Which probably still works quite well as a suppressor for clock radios and lights, etc.)

4 out of 5 eggsNothing but the best

Pros: Unit works and still consists of the same rock solid construction as ever. Just gives such a sense of security (that, and I've never had one fail on me - and even if I did, it's a lifetime warranty).

Cons: Compared to other options (which are otherwise inferior, admittedly) it's spendy.

Other Thoughts: I won't say that you can't kill one of these units, or even that I am employing them in an environment where it's likely (home office) but I've never had a lick of an issue with one and I have some that are probably ~20 years old.

5 out of 5 eggsNothing better

Pros: Top quality construction and features.

Cons: Really had to search to find a vendor for this excellent product.

Other Thoughts: This is a really nice unit, it seems very well built, way better than anything else I could find. Has great features like line filtering and isolation. Those cheapo plastic ones found in retail stores don't even compare. Tripp-Lite needs to get the word out on this excellent product.

One other note; I didn't buy this from Newegg, but the exact same model I bought elsewhere says the Joule rating is 3300 on the box. Might be an error in the listing here. That's an important difference.

3 out of 5 eggsMay filter noise coming in, but does not filter noise going out

Pros: Seems rugged and well-constructed, and may filter some line noise out.

Cons: Does not stop electrical interference from a printer from getting back into the circuit.

I bought this after getting a new laser printer that causes my compact fluorescent lightbulbs (which are on the same circuit as the wall outlets) to flicker, thinking that it would filter out whatever line noise is causing the flickering. Indeed the diagram on the box specifically shows interference from a printer being blocked from other devices and from the wall circuit. However the Isobar has no effect on the lights flickering or on the voltage fluctuations observed with a multimeter, even when the printer is plugged in to the last filter bank (thus benefiting from four total banks of filters).

Perhaps the Isobar filters out other types of line noise, but voltage fluctuations from a laser printer's fuser propagate right through it.

Other Thoughts: Maybe rapid voltage fluctuations are not the same as "line noise," but is there much of a difference when it comes to protecting sensitive electronic equipment?

5 out of 5 eggsQuality Surge Suppressor

Pros: I decided to search for a Tripp Lite product after having noticed that many businesses use this brand and figured they were probably built better and were actually tested to meet certain standards and would have to endure a much tougher environment than someones living room. The ISOBAR6ULTRA has a metal housing, is rated for a much higher surge than most retail suppressors and also has EMI/noise filtering.
Additionally it has isolated filter banks which means that devices plugged into different outlets are isolated from one another so if one device has an interference, noise or power problem it will not affect the other devices plugged into the surge suppressor. Icing on the cake is a Protection Light which ensures that all filtering components are still functioning and a lifetime replacement warranty. I was looking for a better surge suppressor than the cheap plastic suppressors with equally cheap electronics inside available in big box retail stores. This is it.

Cons: Not typically found in retail stores

Other Thoughts: Wish more people knew about it. Isolated Power/Noise Filtering is definitely what sold me. Waaay better than what one normally finds in retail stores.
