1 out of 5 eggsOKGEAR 18" SATA 6 Gbps Cable

Pros: Sweet looking UV Blue cable

Cons: Was defective on arrival. Was used in setting up a RAID 0 array with two Kingston Hyper X 2K 120 GB SSDs. I have an identical cable on LD1 in the array and figured on purchasing this cable for LD2. After about a dozen unsuccessful attempts to install windows 7 on the array, I realized it was the cable that was causing the issue. I switched cables on LD2 to a generic cable rather than the OKGEAR 18" SATA 6gbps cable purchased from newegg and the array worked fine on the first try after the cable swap.

Other Thoughts: The RAID 0 array was created on SATA III SSD drives, and the first of the two drives does have a functioning identical OKGEAR 18" cable connecting it to the motherboard. The new cable that arrived just did not function properly.

2 out of 5 eggsMeh

Pros: Looked cool and sometimes even worked

Cons: I bought four of these a long time ago and three of them gave me problems, a few connectors broke because the latch would stick, also one went bad.

3 out of 5 eggsDo their job

Pros: Look nice, and work. They click in, but it's kind of arbitrary considering I don't rummage inside of my case all that often.

They reach every area of my case nicely.

Cons: None

3 out of 5 eggsCables glow different colors

Pros: Bought these cables to spruce up an old pc I built in 2004 that only has SATA-1 (1.5 Gbps) connections. Quality seems good and the cables worked fine. The latch clicks nicely when inserted into the hdd. My mobo (Asus P4C800-E Deluxe) connectors didn't have anything to latch onto, though.

Cons: I ordered 6 cables, but only 2 of them were the shade of blue in the picture. They came in a plastic bag, clear front and dark blue back w/ OkGear logo. They glow a nice blue when exposed to UV light.

The other 4 were a different shade of blue (more of a sky/powder blue) and came in a totally clear plastic bag with no logo on the back. They unfortunately glow a distinct aqua color when exposed to UV light. I rma'ed these 4 cables but was sent 4 identical ones, so caveat emptor if you care about the aesthetics of your case.

Other Thoughts: Both types of bags/cables had the same UPC code/Part # sticker on the front. This tells me Okgear needs to do some better QA on their products.
