The Sabrent USB to Serial SBT-USC1K converter is the perfect solution for transferring data from a PDA or digital camera. The USB to DB9 provides a connection between an available USB port and the more traditional RS-232 serial port found on many devices. This adapter is designed for connections to cellular phones, PDAs, digital cameras, modems, or ISDN terminal adapters through your USB port. Simply plug your device into the adapter and the adapter into your PC or Mac. COM ports and Baud rates can be modified to desired set up.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great with Windows 7 x64

Pros: Works in a Dell E6400 laptop. Used it with a console cable to connect to a Cisco switch using Putty.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Download the driver from http://www.sabrent.com/drivers2/USBSERIALwin7.zip
Install the driver prior to plugging the cable in and it will install successfully.

1 out of 5 eggsoverheated, SMOKING

Pros: Looks like it works,
Should be fine in theory

Cons: Plugged into computer. After 1 hour of being plugged in to standard usb port, a puff of smoke came out and it started to melt. Quickly unplugged it.

Other Thoughts: I have had lots of various cables and adapters over the years but I had yet to see any of them do this. Having had this happen, I will surely be more careful about purchasing products from Sabrent.

buy at your own risk.
