Pros: Works great with my DVD burner. I have the DVD drive mounted internally and use the IDE to USB connector to connect it to the computer. However I use the connector from my power supply to power it instead of the included power supply. My motherboard has only one IDE connector, so I can only have two IDE devices. I have one sata harddrive, one IDE harddrive, and one IDE DVD drive. I had an old 30gb I wanted to stick in to add a little extra storage and this allowed me to free up an IDE connection by using it to connect my DVD burner via USB. Which brings me to the cons...
Cons: I have 3 IDE hard drives, a western digital 20gb, a western digital 30gb, and a Maxtor 10gb. It did not work for any of the hard drives. I tried the moving the jumper to every possible setting but got no response at all. I tried it with a couple different CD/DVD drives and it recognized them right away.
Other Thoughts: It allowed me to do what I wanted to do, just not the way I planned it. It works fine like this, but I don't understand why it wouldn't work on any of my IDE hard drives, but works fine with IDE CD/DVD drives. I only payed around five bucks or so for it so I can't complain too much and it does get the job done. Just in an unconventional way. So if your using it for a CD/DVD drive more than likely it will work great for you. If your wanting to connect a hard disk I would get a different connector. I think it's very picky about what hard drives it will work with.

Plug IDE HDD into your USB

Pros: This will let you power up an existing IDE hard disk drive using *ONLY* a 110v wall socket and a USB port... Comes with molex connector & ide-to-usb port adapter. Well packaged... Arrived in one piece even with UPSmash shipping :) GREAT if you keep spare IDE drives around as backup drives... or just need to fish some files off your old computer - no more burning DVD's or bumbling about the network or ripping apart your computers guts just to get a few old files off Mr. *OLD HDD*.
Cons: Would have been nice if it included a laptop 4pin for laptop drives, but wishes are wishes and for this price, i really cannot complain. Dont attempt use this if you arent mildly familiar with the inner-workings of your computer tower... while it's not difficult, this is more a techie's toy. If you have half a brain you can figure it out easily... it really only fits one way.
Other Thoughts: If you have TOO MANY IDE DEVICES [hoarder!], or you have not enough power plugs [buy a splitter instead], or just want to take your hard disk drive with you to your friends house or to your job and back up all your goodies, this is handy to have! GREAT FOR ON THE SPOT DATA BACKUP. If you service computers, this can be a low-cost quick&dirty solution... without all the dirt.
