I shorted out my 3.5 headphone jack on my desk top P.C so I need a replacement would this work for music gaming ?. thanks

It should work. I bought this for my PC on which I installed Mac OSx and I was not having sound coming through built in sound card. The sound is pretty good and works flawlessly on Windows & Mac.

My pc sound stopped and it's not the drivers, so probably the card. Front/rear jacks not working, so will this allow sound if sound card is damaged?

can i use on mac bookpro?

I use mine on an iMac and it works beautifully. It should work fine.
