5 out of 5 eggsworks

Pros: works. Only works on Main/solo drive on my machine.

Cons: Have to hunt down the manual as it's hidden between the paper that is part of the product packaging.
Adapter sticks out a bit, but in a 5.25 bay, it's fine. I have plenty of those for some reason.

5 out of 5 eggsActually Works!

Pros: I have an older IDE REV drive and wanted to be able to use it in the newer all SATA motherboards. Followed the easy instructions, booted up and there was my drive.

This is probably the first device that I've tried (and I've tried at least two others) that worked flawlessly. Just ordered three more!

Cons: None. And hopefully it continues to work.

Pros: Wirks great for what I needed, I broke a sata port and needed another. Don't use IDE, so used it to convert to sata. Now I have three that I can use.

4 out of 5 eggsIt works.

Pros: It worked.

Cons: Power cable quite cheaply made.

Other Thoughts: You get what you pay for. I used it to pull data from a few old IDE drives. The power adapter cable is very poorly made. One of the molex leads came completely detached on drive number two (plugged into drive one, unplugged. plugged into drive two, unplugged and broke). For a device that is not considered by Syba to be a permanent solution, I would expect the cable to survive more than two installation cycles.

Still four eggs because the device itself worked without issue, and anybody buying this probably has spare floppy/molex adapters to use when the included one breaks.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks perfectly

Pros: I used this with a SATA drive attached as the primary boot drive to an old Dimension 3000.

Cons: I did need to use a 4-pin molex to SATA power adapter for it to work, but luckily I had one in my parts box.

Other Thoughts: This should probably come with a 4-pin molex to SATA power adapter to be fully usable both ways.

1 out of 5 eggsNo SATA power cable

Pros: Price

Cons: No SATA power cable included. Now I have to purchase one and wait. If I knew I would have bought on with it. No documentation included.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

This device uses a floppy power feed. This product does come with molex to floppy 4-pin plug and SATA cable.

Since more Power supply units are coming with SATA male connecters instead of molex, we are starting to switch the cables that come with SATA female power cables.

Also note that this product was made for the transition from IDE to SATA and that SATA female adapters were not popular when this product was made.

We will take this feedback into consideration when distributing future products in need of a power feed.

We apologize for any issues that you are having.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback. We value all positive and negative feedback.

1 out of 5 eggsnot worth it

Pros: Good idea

Cons: Simply doesnt work with alot of optical drives

Other Thoughts: Tried this product with ide dvd burner and the bios will not see it. Yes I tried and double checked all of the manufacturers setting to no avail. Would have been better off spending another $8 buying a new drive

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Make sure you also connected a floppy power feed to your optical drive.
This is a common mistake users made. The power feed for this device will not power the optical driver connected to it. Optical drive needs its own power supply.

If IDE device was used, make sure it was set to Master or CS.

It does work with many optical drives and HDD. Over 5,000+ of this product have been sold.
In this case perhaps the product you received was defective. We would happily give you a replacement because the product has a 1 year warranty.

SYBA offers an online RMA form, the user can easily fill out the form and submit it for a quick RMA return and exchange. It is SYBA's policy to answer all customer inquiries within 24 hours (M-F)

Our technical support team is available to help 9am-5pm M-F. Feel free to contact us during those business hours at support@sybausa.com

We apologize for any issues that you are having. As you know we are more than happy to provide our customers with a hassle free exchange when a product is defective.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback. We value all positive and negative feedback.

4 out of 5 eggsLousy Instructions take off an egg

Pros: Perfect for adding a Ide Dvd writer to the new motherboards.

Cons: Instructions are very confusing and incomplete.
I dont like having to use 2 power cables instead of 1.
Watch watch watch the clearance as the adapter sticks out covering a case fan or bumping up against a power supply.I really could have spent 8 bucks more and got a new sata drive.

Other Thoughts: In plain english here is how to take an IDE Dvd drive and hook it to a sata port on your motherboard.
1-plug the converter to the dvd drives ide pins
2- set jumper to master on dvd drive and make sure both jumpers are set to the 1 position on this adapter.
3-make sure your dvd drive is powered with BOTH its 4 pin molex and also the 4 pin floppy power.

While i wouldnt use this as my main boot drive when installing a hard drive ,i feel this is perfect for an optical drive or a storage drive esp if you have an old high capasity ide hard drive that you like to use internally.I have no clue why motherboard manufaturers choose to not have at least 1 ide connector on their latest chipsets tho you can still find older serial and para ports on some.
