5 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Bought this to use my upcycled Samsung mSATA SSD in a desktop computer. mSATA drive is held securely in place by clips. Worked on the first try, got the speeds I was expecting (didn't get a chance to benchmark the SSD in the original laptop so I can't tell if there's any penalty for going through the adapter). Installed Windows after reformatting as MBR no problem. No issues recognizing in A85 motherboard.

Cons: The mounting holes seem a little too small and slightly off-center (or my Rosewill 2.5/3.5 bracket is off-center, not sure) but then again it's not metal so it can't possibly hold screws the same way metal does. I was able to secure it in the case and there's no chance of a head crash anyway so I won't dock it any points.

Other Thoughts: Too bad mSATA SSDs aren't really cheaper than 2.5" drives, or this adapter would be really useful to budget upgrade any system to the blazing speeds of flash RAM. Anyone who recycles or repairs laptops or booktops should be prepared to get these kinds of adapters in the near future to get the most use out of unwanted replacement hardware.

5 out of 5 eggsNo issues

Pros: Works as intended.

Paired with a Crucial M4 CT064M4SSD3, works great.

Cons: Screw holes don't seem to line up on IcyDock hotswap trays.

4 out of 5 eggsDoesn't work in 'powered by USB' Enclosures

Pros: Very good way to attach an MSATA drive to regular SATA hook-ups. Great for troubleshooting and backups! Works flawless when powered by +12v/+5v power line.

Cons: Does not work in enclosures powered by USB port. Drive doesn't register that power is getting to it (quick blink) but not enough to power it. I'm quite sure this should work, but I'm unsure if it is the adapter or the ADATA SX300 mSATA's fault?

Other Thoughts: I haven't found a useThat little plastic piece that snaps over the clips, as it seems to only do that when there is no mSATA drive in the holster?... when you get one, you'll see what I mean.

5 out of 5 eggsLovin it

Pros: Small, Fast, Excellent stuff. I loved so much I bought a second one.

Cons: Mounting holes were a little weird. Only could get 2 to fit. Was concerned it would short out while mounting inside of computer, So I insulated the bottom with proper tape.

5 out of 5 eggsSplendid - but incapable of miracles

Pros: * Works perfectly
* Nice latching retainer lock for mSATA drive

Cons: Starting up with a 240GB Mushkin SSD was functional, but disappointingly did not cause immediate peace, love and brotherhood for all mankind. ...perhaps I need to RMA?

Other Thoughts: If I needed another I'd buy this again, unless one comes out that actually does perform miracles as well as SATA conversion.

5 out of 5 eggsHP T610 Thin Clients

Pros: Works in HP T610 Thin Clients with Mushkin Enhanced Atlas Series, Kingston mS100 and ADATA SX300 mSATA SSDs.

Cons: Not the fault of this device, but Mushkin and Kingston put their activity lights on the side of the card that faces the Syba adapter. So this essentially blocks them from view.

Other Thoughts: Rolling out t610s with 60-64GB Mushkin and Kingston SSDs depending on availability. Installed an ADATA SX300 128GB for verification and it worked perfectly. I haven't noticed any speed decrease from 2.5" to mSATA... begging the question: if this is what's inside your regular 2.5" SSD...

5 out of 5 eggsusing for server drive

Pros: Working great, good speed.. etc

Cons: The screw holes are smaller than standard, will have to go to home depot or something to get smaller screws/nuts that fit

Other Thoughts: This is converting the servers boot device to regular SATA size, working great. I see no speed or performance problems.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended

Pros: Works as advertised, no issues with several mSATA brands and capacities. Currently in use with a MyDigitalSSD 256GB Smart Series SATA III (6G) SandForce mSATA SSD - MDMS-SFIII-256

Cons: There is a little piece of black plastic at the top of the unit that broke off at first use - not sure that it is a necessary part, as it works fine without it.

Other Thoughts: Would do it again

5 out of 5 eggswork with ADATA mSATA

Pros: Easy to use. Works with ADATA XM13 AXM13S2-60GM-C mSATA 60GB drive. Even though the voltage specs aren't exactly the same.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I wish ADATA would test more mSATA drives to expand the compatable drive listing. This works with ADATA XM13 even though the specs fo this device are 1.8watts where the ADATA drive requires only 1.5watts.
